I paraphrased a rough translation in another reply if you want to take a look.

The video says they are handling “banking info, health data and personal records”

Paraphrasing from the video: it’s a small town (2k people) in the Loire region. They claim that the transition to Linux wasn’t as hard as anticipated, meaning it wasn’t as hard to teach town officials to use it as they thought. Users are happy to see their machines run faster on Linux than on bloated Windows They are looking forward to saving money on SW but also on equipment since they don’t have to buy new machines for the Windows 11 planned obsolescence madness. However, the main reason the town switched was for privacy. They handle confidential info and are betting on Linux track record as less of a target of ransomware and other exploits, hopefully protecting their citizens data better.
10/10, who ever the mayor or city manager is, I applaud their clear mindedness and courage to make this transition. Hopefully, seeing the benefits, more towns will follow suite.

Thermal vents under water will keep you alive but it won’t be your energy source for industry. Also, how do you invent the steam engine under water on a thermal vent that cannot move around?
- Comment on Do you buy PC games from third party key sites or from Steam? 4 days ago:
I’ve used Kinguin a couple times to get keys for games so I could buy them at sales price during regular price season. It worked twice for me but don’t know if they can be trusted, do your homework

It was also pretty disgusting to clean. Always a mess of wet gunky hair in the brush and dirty water bin. It sadly didn’t clean super well but was better than not cleaning.

That’s a scooba. Rare obscure product no one bought. It had a water tank and scrubbed your floor while vacuuming up the dirty water.

Neat part here above is that you can go through the steps without flipping, meaning it’s a bit faster.

- Comment on How has Apple tricked so many people into believing that they "just need to get another Apple product"? 1 week ago:
I think you need to understand how powerful Apple’s marketing is, especially in the US. People just like a system that is simple and just works. Their use cases are limited. They don’t want to spend time to figure out which distro to install or which instance to join, they just want to start their browser and go on twitter.
I will disagree with your statement on iPad displays. The iPad has been one of the only viable tablet out there for graphic artists. The pencil is great, the color accuracy and consistency between Apple devices is excellent, the device is just functional for that type of workflow. Now if only it were repairable and not subject to planned obsolescence…

- Comment on What’s your favorite video game that most people didn’t like ?? 5 weeks ago:
No Man’s Sky. I don’t like it that much either. I just don’t hate it as much at other people. It’s ok. Easy to get bored after a while. Feels like a AAA blended with a phone game it’s weird, but sometimes smooth brains like me need some simple games to play.
- Comment on Valve raises Steam Deck prices by more than $200 1 month ago:
I think that’s it’s a slap in the face to remind us all that Valve is a for profit company.
They are supporting Linux, they make repairable hardware, proton is amazing, but they’re doing it so they can own the full stack and not have to deal with another party’s transaction fees when selling games.
They aren’t going to sell a product if they don’t make a profit. They want to make more profit. They have the potential to enshitify at any moment. We can all be excited about Steam hardware but how is it different than Apple locking its customers in a walled garden?
What happens if they decide to make all the games you bought unavailable for licensing reasons? What happens if they shut down and suddenly all your games are gone? What happens if they lock their hardware?

- Comment on My quest to get a steam controller has failed 2 months ago:
Very interesting. The data shows that they stopped importing most controllers about three weeks ago.
Is that because it takes that long for a boat to cross the pacific?
Or was it their first batch and Valve is now waiting for the next one?
Trying to figure out how long they will be out of stock
- Comment on My quest to get a steam controller has failed 2 months ago:
Don’t jinx us… we’re in the middle of a war, there are new tariffs every other day. I’m sure something could happen to the controllers supply chain.
