Irl cake day today for me. We are insanely busy at work so won’t celebrate until the weekend. EOFY is weird this year - weirder than normal and people are doing strange things with their money. Profitable for us, but I wonder at the fallout later on.

Maybe when people are finding money a bit tight they do try to get “deals” like buying EOFY discounts and trying to claim things on tax? Hopefully the contrast of busy now and relaxed later will make weekend celebrations even better?

Jammed/sprained my finger yesterday.
Iced it for a bit and definitely less pain today but still a bit swollen and lacking full mobility.
Thankfully it’s the ring finger on my left hand.

Having security cameras is kinda fun - I’ve just looked at last night and discovered Miss Meow has also worked out the dog door. It appears she just stayed under cover and looked out for a bit before teleporting back inside, but that last bit could just be continuity gap from the motion sensors not picking up when she went inside.

Speaking of food, I felt briefly tempted to have a pizza per today’s thread emoji but I think I’ll leave that for the end of next week when I really will need a pick-me-up after my presentation for which I have yet to make the requisite graphics let alone slides but I tend to do presentations best at the very last minute anyway.

I think I’ve done what I can to prep for the presentation tomorrow - gonna do a few more reviews and editing (scientific names for animals should be in italics), and run through it with my partner.
I have a suspicion I may have put more info then they need, but I’ve adhered to the marking rubric so 🤷🏼♀️

I actually kind of miss dating. But I am determined for this year to be my single year where I make no attempt to date.
In the past, things have just happened, and I didn’t really make a conscious effort to put myself out there.
I think I just want more connection, and to feel understood. I want to run a marathon before I date someone again (runs a marathon with no training whatsoever). No rush.

I think my multi-workspace approach at work isn’t working. I tried breaking things up by project but every time I get a teams message it pings me back to the first workspace.
Maybe I try by function, like having website stuff in one space, social ads in another, and something else in another space.

I keep picturing my ideal life - but it’s still being a cat lady 🤔
I’d like to end up somewhere more peaceful and make things all nice inside, and if I can’t have Melbcat forever I’d like more cats or the stability/reliable health to foster.
Maybe when I’m up to it there’ll be a local craft group to grind out basic items for charity and maybe the area will be safe enough to wear my preferred style. On low energy days there will be a lot of video games. Maybe there’s a little space to garden in pots. If we’re getting fancy there could be a garage or shed for painting and the energy to do it.
Unfortunately Melbourne kind of sucks but this is what I would ideally end up with. I hate dealing with dysfunctional people and have no interest in bullshit drama.

My attempts to be lazy and have a parcel from Bunnings delivered have not gone well. They split it into two parcels, one of which was returned to sender for having a wrong address, the other is in limbo having been sent to a LPO for collection and then sent on again from there as being incorrectly sorted. I really should have just done click and collect.
