On the unrelated: yep, recent DiDi trip I somehow ended up on the eastern freeway heading east, I live in the west. I was quite drunk but not enough to realise he was going away from the destination.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I watched 2 drivers miss my street and drive onto the freeway lol

More good news on the rental front: the agent takes direct deposit rather than insisting on you using an app that stops you from automating the payments unless you pay extra fees.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I have checked all my shit in, bestickered my suitcase and scooter, and made it through security. They are satisfied my crutches do not contain a bomb
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Safe and comfy travels to you!
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 1 month ago
No poison spikes in the ends, a la KGB umbrellas?
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 month ago
an absolute shame they do contain powerful laser weaponry but good thing your responsible enough not to use them!
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Update from midair…
They give out ice cream. I’m currently holding a coconut-mango Magnum
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Which airline are you flying with?! Yummo!
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Qantas did me a solid
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Plane go brrrr. I’ll touch base on the other side
dumblederp@aussie.zone 1 month ago
See you three hours ago.

Tinyest can now say his name. I was surprised cause lets say his name was Tinyest, we often just call him Tiny. But he knows the full thing as well. He some times just says to himself “Mommy, Daddy and Tiny” which is so cute. Sometimes the pet names too.
He can also now say “Come Here” so poor mrs b is getting summoned a LOT. Daddy is mostly just used for playing cars which means forza horizon on the xbox doing jumps.

this is beautiful 🙂
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Really happy about the Canadian election results. Anti-Trump and pro democracy won. 🙂
Pilk@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Seeing headlines saying the Liberals won has been a bit of a head spin though
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Me too!🙂
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I am holding out big hopes for the USA mid terms
the republicans might get a huge loss
and we here might be influenced by anti-trump sentiment too

I just helped out an excitable dog by the name of Sadie, who had gotten outside without authorisation and didn’t know how to get back in. Fortunately her people were home. I now smell slightly of wet dog and have a few paw prints on my jeans.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Have infection in hand. Taken antibiotics yesterday and today. Am completely wiped out :(
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Today’s the day!
Holiday!

Erin Patterson’s trial begins today, I think it’ll be really interesting to hear how it turns out, what a wild story it’s been.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Is this the mushroom lady?
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Alleged mushroom lady.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Yeah, that’s the one!
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I find it so crazy that she (allegedly) thought it would work, and that no one would consider her suspicious

Early morning movie review
Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
I finished watching the other day and can’t stop thinking about it.
It’s about grief and justice.
4 hobbits
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 month ago
That’s one of my favourite movies, it’s so well done and the acting is phenomenal
DolphinLundgrin@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Martin McDonagh is a fucking legend.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I am not sure how I felt about it in the end. I’m glad I watched it but… yeah. Similar story with Nomadland. Keep thinking about that one too.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I just read the wikipedia article because I’m terrible at watching movies lately and… just… huh?
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I think I think about it because it’s like real life in that life doesn’t make sense to us all the time and questions can go unanswered
that’s the thing, why ask questions, what can we do with answers,
are we trying to change the past, bring people back from the dead and do we believe in the Just World Fallacy , what is justice anyway
a lot of people in law pursue justice as an act of caring toward the victim
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 month ago
The sads
I’m feeling overwhelmed by life and getting emotional about things that are either a no win situation and/or probably don’t matter. I’m just so tired man. I’ve been struggling against so much for so long with no headway and anything good I try to do seems to be for nothing (or gets punished). At least I can get this tooth removed this week. Due to cost I’ve decided to be awake during it so wish me luck.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
so many hugs
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Hugs homey.
Sligth pep talk - I had my last few teeth pulled (one infected, one broken and an old wisdom) without general. Not all at once. These were 3 separate occasions.
Local shots were more than enough. Jaw was sore for a few days after, but that’s all.
You’re sorting things out one a time. You’ll get to where you need be eventually :)
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 1 month ago
My OH also had a broken tooth pulled recently under local and had the same experience. Had to eat modified food for a couple of weeks but is all good now
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Good morning!

Democracy research complete. I have written Nutter next to rather many names. Well meaning ones in several cases but full of crunchy crazies nonetheless. Bring on sausage time!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I think I might vote above the line this year
just too hard to pick which fascist should go last
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I was planning below but stopping when there cease being reasonable options.
Local I have to pick a last from Family First or One Nation. Yuck!
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I do under the line, but stop when I get to the right wing crazies. I have numbered every box before when that was still required, and trying to rank those parties by degrees of fascism is definitely a challenge. I’m very happy to be able to stop at 12.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 1 month ago
There are some interesting candidates out there
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 month ago
There sure are. The guy who is openly running as a joke would get numbered way above many of them.

Two hours of absolute brain frying over R and stats and plots with my supervisor on coffee and an empty stomach, hunched up on the floor in a tiny room… and that’s just the beginning of a very packed day. I just want to go back to sleep 😭
Late breakfast, then help mum with the shopping, then do a small bit of work that has to be done before 2pm my time, then no more screen time: help with cleaning up, lifting stuff, family friends coming over and then an early exit to go see my brother for dinner (which will involve some Big Conversations too). I have to quarantine my brain from all the cognitively taxing stuff before my head asplode. Python will wait till tomorrow
PS chatgpt has admittedly been very helpful with breaking the inertia of getting started with basic coding. I feel like I’m getting dumber every time but needs must!

scary stuff out of Europe. In the event of a prolonged outage would be scary. Especially if I’m in the city when it occurs. Seems like my campers gas fridge might work but my solar cuts out when the grid goes down and no battery. To say nothing of water as well.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I find it hilarious that the things people viewed as insecurities like blushing and undereye circles, are now being more romanticised. When I was in school, people would make fun of me for blushing, and now those same people are putting a fuck ton of blush on their face. Or with undereye circles, they’re leaving a bit unconcealed so they can have an “in-built smokey eye”
Beauty trends are so freaking dumb. 😍

Had planned to do a bit of garden work this afternoon, bit of leaf sweeping and fill up the green bin. It started to drizzle as soon as I started, so I went inside and made a coffee. I will obey the will of the universe and have an indoors afternoon instead.
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Slept through the night, but plenty of flu_nightmares. Lots of jaw clenching and teeth grinding has given me a headache 💀
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Still decluttering. This time I’m going through all the kid’s toys that have been in storage so i can donate. She had a habit of writing her name on everything.

I received access to work’s marketing automation platform today. Wow, it looks so much nicer than Marketing Cloud. I almost feel like it can’t be as powerful because it’s so easy to use, but I know that’s not the case.
I’m looking forward to getting stuck into this program and learning it inside out. I feel like I’ll be able to do so much with it since it’s so easy to use. Just sending an email in Marketing Cloud felt like such a battle, so this should be a dream by comparison.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
sore back today so takin’ it a bit easy
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Finally received my order of a hoodie of a cute dog I follow on Instagram – nearly missed it as it’d been sitting at the post office for over a month with no notification that it’d even been sent. Post office lady told me having an Aus Post account would have helped. Oh well, I’m just glad I have it in time for the cool weather and the quality is better than I hoped! And it’s flippin’ ADORABLE!!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
good night everyone, sweet dreams 😘

My body clock is convinced it’s like, nine thirty. It is not
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
rain 🙂
I’m not used to such frequent rain, Carlton is in a rain shadow and very dry
tone212_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I got some business cards printed through Canva and holy crap the quality is terrible. The “premium paper” is so thin and flimsy and the print quality is no good. I can export my Canva design and use another online printing service, any recommendations?

I have been approved for a home! I shall not after all be homeless.
It is in a new estate, so comes with the standard building noises during the day I have become used to, but should not have the regular demolition sounds. There is a dishwasher. There is heating. There is cooling. There is a walk in pantry and double glazing! Now I have to order a dog door insert for Mr Woof, organise the removalists, and figure out what goes where.
I guess this means I’m officially no longer a Melbournian, I am an official Ballaratian. Or is it a Ballaratbag?
bacon@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Ballaratatouille
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Yay! You’ll need that heating, Ballarat nights are nippy.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 month ago
And I’m moving just in time for winter. Into the suburb of Winter Valley. ❄️🧊🥶
The garage connected to the house will also be very good for that, less ice scraping from the windshield.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Congrats!! Yay!! And definitely Ballaratbag (as a former Bendigonian)
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 month ago
OK, I’m late to this party, but I thought Ballaratbag only applied if you live in Wendouree. Or has that vibe expanded with new settlement/immigration. I last lived there in the late 70s, so my info could well be out of date.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I’d love to move out that way.
Hopefully I can get fully remote by the end of the year.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 month ago
aim higher. Get a place in nambucca heads for like 600k and live like a freakin king!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
That’s awesome . 🙂
And it’s Ballaarcunian. 👍
SituationCake@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Congrats! Sounds like it will be a comfortable place.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Congrats! That’s great news! There’s good gallery action there if you like that stuff
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Hurrah! Enjoy the serenity of the Rat. I am well acquainted with some of the new developments around Delacombe. Quite affordable for the space and facilities as a rental. Will it be a long commute to all your usual things though?
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 month ago
16 minute commute to work, which is the main reason I leave home. Most everything else will be a similar distance or closer. I will be much closer to cows and forests.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Congrats 🎉
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Yay! That sounds perfect 😊 double glazing is a big win near Ballarat
