My brain is fried. One more to go and things can slow down a tiny bit.

Just pure racism and classism at its finest. You’re on a ‘controversial’ medication and aren’t a white man. That’s it, that’s all it is. I want to slap every healthcare worker (drs, nurses, pharmacists, mental health worker) who hold those views. It’s fucking gross and I’m so angry on your behalf. Fuck.

I’m sorry man, your needs are LEGITIMATE and the problem only lies with those judgy cunts.

      source
    • Duenan@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨month⁩ ago

I’ve had some amazing experiences with nurses and some downright horrible ones that shouldn’t even be working in the industry.

The least they could do is be professional and keep their thoughts to themselves but some just can’t help themselves.

I’m sorry you had to go through that. It’s never nice.

      take care ,

and you don’t need to justify yourself to them, you have a doctor

if you are feeling grouchy you could always tell your doc you are being harassed

I think the interview went well! It was my first ever “dual” interview, so there was another applicant there. But it was a very casual interview with the owner of the cattery. Her dog was also there and just was all over me wanting pats 😂

    I should know by tomorrow!

I ended up walking and chatting with the other applicant, and she was so freaking cool! She’s doing a PhD in archaeology, which I asked lots of questions about haha, and she was so down to earth - I walked her to her bus stop because she doesn’t know the area well, and we added each other on insta 😂😂😂

    source
    • tombruzzo@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨month⁩ ago

A dual interview sounds so weird. A group interview makes sense, but when it’s you and one other person it feels like you’re meant to compete with each other directly.

      source
      • StudChud@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨month⁩ ago

That’s what I was worried about tbh, but it ended up being quite nice! It was more conversational and relaxed than I expected.

I imagine it’s because we had the interview with the owner, who throws herself into her work and just wanted to make it a bit easier for herself - but yeah it was chiller than I expected.

Plus I made a new friend so nothing lost haha

I had mentally allowed myself two days for looking at cars. As it only took a couple of hours I now have a lot of unexpectedly open time to fill. I might do an op shop run and try to finish off my couch.

Does anyone else write off stupidly large amounts of time to do things that are not actually that time consuming? I seem to do it all the time, which often means I put off things because I “don’t have enough time” and then when I do get them done end up with lots of extra free time.

    source
    • SituationCake@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨month⁩ ago

I’m the opposite. I put things off, especially unpleasant tasks, but severely overestimate what I can get done in a timeframe. (I don’t really believe it, I just like to convince myself I will do it later to feel less guilty about procrastinating). Then mad panic ensues. I need to find a way of doing unpleasant tasks.

      source
      • RustyRaven@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨month⁩ ago

I only tend to do that for uni assignments - sure I can write up 5000 words after work on the day it’s due!!

I pick up the car on Thursday. I’m going to add clearing out the small shed I have at the end of the carport and putting it onto Marketplace, I’ll have an extra 13cm of car to fit in and need that space back so the new vehicle doesn’t have her butt hanging out 🤣

        source
    • dumblederp@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨month⁩ ago

Drive to the op shop to familliarise yourself with the car some more? Do you have it have it already?

      source
      • RustyRaven@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨month⁩ ago

It’s coming on Thursday. It will actually make it a lot easier to do op shop drop offs now, tons of room and much easier access! But I’ve got a few boxes of things I’m tripping over that I’d just like out of the way so I’ll do it today anyway.

First visit with the new car is going to be the auto electrician to organise a reversing camera - it has sensors, but the visibility at the back is not great and I’d much prefer to add a camera in. Fingers crossed they can install without replacing the head unit, but it depends on which specific unit was installed in the car and they won’t know until they can look at it. I am a bit nervous about manouvering in it, after 19 years in the one car the change is going to be hard.

Finally made it down the coast. Bus replacement from wyndham vale to geelong made it a lengthy trip. Bit chaotic, no one seemed to know which bus was going where (including the drivers lol).

But it’s always interesting taking that bus through those newish estates out west to see how they’re going. People have planted things, but not things that provide any shade. The amount of synthetic lawn is pretty crazy. Just a massive heatsink. Also the walking tracks are always empty which is a shame as they look quite nice.

Before leaving decided to borrow both Situationcake’s and Dumblederps ideas. Hoping the steel wool works, but if it gets through…

Behold, the ROTATING BOTTLE ON A STICK OVER A BUCKET 2000™ (that is pb not poo).

Saw a massive black rat climb in under the dishwasher last night. Have to head down the bellarine today and turn the alarm on here. Bugger. Thing would surely set it off.

Never seen a rat in the house before, just a few mice back in the day.

rats seem to be a coastal thing 😬

      source
      • StudChud@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨month⁩ ago

Trust me, rats are everywhere 😂 we just don’t see them too much in built up/inner city areas because there tends to be lots of food sources around so they don’t often encroach into homes. Alleyways where dumpsters are stored, close to restaurants, etc.

Rural and coastal areas appear to have more rats, purely because it’s less built up, so rats are attracted to homes for shelter and food. You’ll see them more, but they are very much everywhere.

I love rats, and mice, but best not to touch wild ones. Most are introduced pests, though there are a couple of native species

        source
    • StudChud@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨month⁩ ago

Can you get a picture of it at all? There are a few types of rats near the coast, some are native but most are introduced pests

      • Bottom_racer@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨month⁩ ago

They’re so fast couldn’t get one :( This one is actually at the place here in Melbs (which I have to leave and head down the coast, but alarm is the problem). I’m really not a fan of poison so plan of a attack is to stop it from getting into the house with a bit of wood under the dishwasher and deal with it on sunday somehow lol.

My girlfriend was saying she needs a way to track things at work better because she’s supposed to be leading the baby room.

I told her what she needs is a G-Shock or something similar. It has alarms, timers, can beep on the hour and some models have a button that can start the countdown timer without diving into menus.

And it does it all in a simple and privacy respecting way that’s sufficient for a childcare worker.

I bought a cheap Casio watch one time she’s using to try it out, and if it’s working we can get her an upgrade

    TW medical

I had my first iron infusion today. -_- Really hoping it helps. I’m so tired of struggling to get up or move. At least it was delivered in a bonus bag of saline so I didn’t have to get iv fluids from the hospital. (Been dodging the er no matter how dehydrated I get because reasons.)

    Complaining about money

Trying to buy some basics for the community pantry because I haven’t been able to get there in a while and I’m appalled at the Colesworth costs. $10 for a bag of powdered milk, get fucked ya greedy cunts. $8 for a bag of oranges. Generic milk bricks don’t cost much less than brand. I’m hitting up the cheap basics that stretch far like pasta and sauces, noodles, oats, tinned soup spaghetti and baked beans, milk bricks, sugar, tea (also bar soap, toothpaste and menstrual products) but there’s not anything fresh. I regret being so low income myself. And my tiny garden isn’t stepping up hard enough. It’s probably costing more than the produce would in the shop. Unfortunately I’m not able to shop in person and Aldi isn’t always cheaper on everything… but maybe when I’m less slammed with tests and appointments I can ask to go there and suss out what the best value items are. I really wish they had kept the old ‘shopping list’ feature so you could compare prices on items before going.

Wow okay, so I’ve been watching yt (just trash stuff), and the political campaign ads for the election have started cropping up.

There’s one that I always skip, that feels like utter fear mongering - it seems to just focus on how awful the greens are, talking about inheritance tax and migration and alleged sexual abuse survivors talking about their time in the greens party (alleged of course, because I haven’t seen much news about sex abuse in the greens party, just the liberal party lol). But because I always skipped it, I didn’t know who was sponsoring it… It’s Advance Australia party 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Of course they don’t talk about their OWN policies, of course it’s all about how “terrible” and “scary” the greens are 🙄🙄

I rolled my eyes so hard I’ve sent them into orbit. At least the ads for the greens and for labor talk about THEIR OWN policies. Of course a racist bullshit party can only drag other parties through the mud and never have the courage to lay out their own agendas.

    Fuck I hate the right.
