Witcher 3 can’t be worse than Xcom2 on the switch. No judgement here.

I play games too much, so I’ll categorise them:
New ones I’ve finished and absolutely loved: Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Star Wars: Outlaws
Not new ones that I’m currently playing and really like so far: Days Gone, Mad Max
Not new ones that I’m currently playing that I’m unsure if I like, be it because of the game itself or technical issues: Enshrouded, Horizon Forbidden West, Satisfactory
Ones I’ve played for some time and won’t stop playing anytime soon (and obviously love): Warframe and Minecraft
Valencia@sh.itjust.works 2 months ago
What’d you like about veilguard? Were you a big fan of the series before? I want to buy it but the changes from the first one put a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
CitizenKong@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Not OP, but it’s a very good game that gets better the longer you play it. It more like Mass Effect than Dragon Age in many ways though, but the final stretch especially was almost on the same level as the suicide mission of ME2 IMO. Characters and gameplay is great, dialogue and level design could have been better and the only element that really sucked for me are the godawful outfits and weapons and lack of variation thereof.
TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 months ago
Mad Max is fun. But it never holds my interest for long.

Kiddos have been playing Space Engine on my account, but otherwise this is what I’ve been playing lately.

I’m old and just started playing Far Cry 5 (haven’t played any of the others before). Very fun.
M137@lemmy.world 2 months ago
I highly recommend the first one, Far Cry 3 and its stand-alone expansion Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Also, the first Crysis game which is extremely similar to Far Cry.
TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 months ago
Im old too. I played the first FarCry. It was amazing. That was a time that driving a vehicle, having moving shadows based of light sources, being able to see far away, and being able to shoot out lights was ground breaking.
Now there aren’t any games that let you shoot or destroy light sources.
callouscomic@lemm.ee 2 months ago
I have played every Far Cry since the first. In my opinion FC5 is the worst. Boring. I think FC6 was a refreshing change.
Personally Far Cry Blood Dragon is the best overall. The Vietnam DLC for FC5 is also excellent, even though short. FC4 is also great, and has a truly unique setting and was a lotnof fun with the gyro copter and Yeti. FC3 is good and fun, but super overrated.
FC2 I think is the best FC in a spiritual sense. For all its flaws, it truly set out to implement a unique concept the other FC’s have forgotten… that is you set out to accomplish something and everything will go wrong. You were supposed to be frustrated and overthink things. The setting was cool, the story was effed up, and the buddy system was kinda neat.

Half Life 2, I got a new laptop a couple of years ago and it was the first that could actually play it properly but I never got to it, then the big update came out and wow, so worth it, loving it.
TES IV Oblivion. Love it, so silly, I love thieving.
Autonauts vs Piratebots, such a fun and cute little programming game.
randomcruft@lemmy.sdf.org 2 months ago
Top three are: The First Descendant, Elder Scrolls Online, and just started Lords Of The Fallen (which is pretty tough TBH).
TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 months ago
I was very very hesitant on ESO. But it’s probably the best Elder Scrolls game we’ll get. Playing with friends is a blast, as well as wondering around doing random quests in each “country”.
randomcruft@lemmy.sdf.org 2 months ago
I’m actually a new’ish gamer. I did a little Final Fantasy 14 but didn’t get into it. I read about this a little and decided to give it a try (it helped it was on a massive sale on the PlayStation store). This will be the game I will probably be playing for a really long time.
The random quests and wandering around are the best parts IMO. It amazes me how much time I can waste walking around going "what’s behind that building (or rock, or hill, etc.).
Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Mostly Spyro (the PSX one) and both versions of Cyberpunk 2077. Alternatively Muse Dash if I don’t have much time (or will) to go for a longer session.
TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 months ago
I respect the love of a PSX game, thumbs up.
What do you mean by both versions of 2077?Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.world 2 months ago
I really like checking out oldies in their original form, even if there’s a “better” remake/remaster available. It’s fun to see what those games had to offer in their prime.
As for Cyberpunk, I’m playing both the most up to date version (2.13 with Phantom Liberty + mods) and the legacy one (version 1.16).
There were a lot of gameplay and design changes in the 2.0 release. Since I played the game before that, I had a constant reaction of some things being… off. I wasn’t sure whether my mixed feelings had to do with nostalgia or if I really liked some of the old gameplay more, so I decided to reinstall the legacy version to confirm (thanks CDPR for keeping it available).
Long story short, while I do like some of the things they did with the game and genuinely believe it’s a better product overall, I’d be lying if I said I prefer the new version. I still have fun and all the technical improvements, free content and access to mods make for an easy choice but boy do I wish there was a way to port those to the legacy version. There are a few mods that restore some of the old design choices which gives me a sliver of hope for a potential larger restoration in the future. For now though, I’ll just keep enjoying what’s there.

I just finished Ace Attorney Investigations II and I am at that stage confused for where to go now after finishing a game (is not that I do not have a backlog lol).
Anyway, I continued Pokémon Omega Ruby yesterday but I have that one, TWEWY, BOTW (both for Switch) and Chrono Trigger for DS sitting in the middle of a playthrough and I don’t know where to go now.
I just went to Pokémon because I never finished the GBA version and it is the easiest IMO, TWEWY I beat the DS version multiple times and I consider that one better than the Switch one (gameplay wise) maybe that is why it hasn’t caught up my attention so much.
BOTW is MASSIVE! And the joycon drift demotivates me lol And Chrono Trigger… I am pretty sure I am about to finish the 1st ending… But I am kinda lost in the plot lol.
TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 months ago
8bitdo controller. My joycons died during BotW too. I haven’t had a single issue with the 8bitdo controller I got immediately after.
Also, Tears of the Kingdom is like three times larger, when you get to that one. Very fun.

Did it change anything from the release? I know I beat it on my first try but I also remember that I was lucky with something because of something. This was in the first week of the release.

Satisfactory, Black Ops 6 (yeah yeah) Zelda echoes of wisdom

How far you into Satisfactory? We just got our turbo fuel powerplant at about 30% capacity, enough for Ficsmas!
Gerudo@lemm.ee 2 months ago
I’m in the last tier, nuclear power, but I am extremely choked on computers right now. I’m a spaghetti mess and considering a restart to be more organized.

Honkai: Star Rail and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. Took me multiple chapters to get into Ys IX (very unusual for me, I love the series) but I’m finally starting to enjoy it.
Also started a replay of The Witcher 3.
callouscomic@lemm.ee 2 months ago
Heh. I love Ys, and yet EVERY SINGLE TIME I am initially disappointed, and I have to stick with it, and it eventually gets insanely good.
Just how Ys games are I guess. With Ys X I went intonation knowing this and really overlooked a lot.
I don’t hate Monstrum Nox like so many do. It’s refreshing they will always try wildly different things.
Ashtear@lemm.ee 2 months ago
That’s me with Atelier. Usually I’m good to go right away with Ys right from the start, even with the ones I don’t like as much. Ys VIII was especially good as soon as the island landing.
Zahille7@lemmy.world 2 months ago
I’ve been getting back into boomer shooters and dungeon crawlers.
I’ve been playing more Selaco, and I’m excited for the next chapter to be released. Also Burger Flipper has taken my spare time in that game while I’m playing it (it’s the idle clicker game-within-a-game).
I reinstalled Lunacid to jump back in and hopefully finish that at some point soon. I’ve been playing fun demos like Mohrta and Hark the Ghoul too.
And of course Project Zomboid.

A ton of Darktide.
Katana314@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Playing Another Crab’s Treasure - a Soulslike with a humorous tone. I had the game on Xbox, but abandoned that and replaying on Steam. I think having a calmer, more analytical mood to the difficulty is helping me make progress faster.
There’s a region where you need to stick to the path lest you awaken a gigantic and threatening enemy bearing an instant-kill attack. I just returned to that area and killed it.

Balatro, Octopath traveller 2, AC Valhalla, Baldur’s gate 3, Crosscode, Tales of grindea, AC Odyssey.

Hehe you’re right kinda.
I take my phone data offline after about midnight and if I can’t sleep I’ll do Solitaire or crosswords.
If I’m really wanting a good game, Zen Pinball is my poison.
