First world problem #475358: seems not all microfibre cloths are created equal. I bought some new ones but they are hydrophobic and not very good at picking up dirt. Annoying. Lesson learnt, Iāll be having a feel of them in the shops before buying new ones to see if I can find ones with similar texture to my older set.

Well damn. Roofer is coming tomorrow but I canāt be home so have to let the LL in handle it.
Burnt all my days that I can take off for the year and wasnāt prepared to take leave without pay.
Less than ideal situation but got to do it.

I heard back today the university job I interviewed for want to move on to references. This is the interview where I had all the technical problems, and they still want to progress.

Friend (might I add, who was super late last time I saw her for no good reason) got her Jetstar flight delayed, and sheās only just arrived at the airport, where sheās meant to get her next flight with a different airline. She also hasnāt slept. Such a shitty situation to be in. Hopefully if she misses it, the airline will help her reschedule.
Iām just sitting here waiting to hear if she got on that plane and the suspense is killing me.

I think Catch accidentally doubled up and gave me twice the amount of dishwashing tablets. I guess I donāt need to order anymore for like 2 years now

Check your bank statement to see if they double charged you.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone āØ2ā© āØhoursā© ago
No double charge. I put in two separate orders close together so maybe they accidentally fulfilled it twice

Can get such a good deal on two pairs of glasses at Specsavers right now, including a pair of polarised prescription sunglasses, but their range is either tack and el cheapo, or obscenely priced for what it is. Iām thinking my gorgeous features deserve better?

Iāve found really good service at opsm , they even changed lenses on old glasses for me

So what is the first song you remember? Mine is The Beatles, Twist and Shout. I must have been about two and a half, maybe younger. I remember the joy of it.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone āØ1ā© āØhourā© ago
Something by Harry Belafonte or Nana Mouskouri. Now that Iāve googled Harryās songs, Iām amazed how many I know, lol.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone āØ39ā© āØminutesā© ago
I used to watch the Nana Mouskouri show every week. She was such a huge tv star, had such a lovely voice and nice personality.

FĆ¼r Elise or the Blue Danube I think, they were in a kidās fairytale audiobook CD (not tape!) that got very heavy rotation. The Blue Danube used to come at the middle/intermission of a story that always gave me very ominous, anxious feelings and to this day I canāt think of it as a magnificent, stately song reminiscent of a big flowing river, just a sense that the baddies are around the corner. I think we had some tapes of The Carpenters (Top of the World was definitely pre-primary).
I donāt remember anything earlier aside from your usual kids clapping songs etc.
chingatello@aussie.zone āØ4ā© āØhoursā© ago
For some reason they played time warp at my kindy before nap time. I used to dread the end of the songā¦ everyone falls down and stops dead
Now itās one of my favorites, because I have the context of Rocky Horror and adulthood.
Iām convinced that the kindy was run by people who wanted to torment small children.

U2 - I Still Havenāt Found What Iām Looking For
One thing Iām very grateful for with my upbringing is that there was a lot of music - the Beatles, Beach Boys, U2, Meatloaf, The Seekers. Weād go on family drives (to other country towns for their pokie joints), but the drive was always great with the music playing.

dumblederp@aussie.zone āØ4ā© āØhoursā© ago
I feel like it was Michael Jackson Bad or maybe The Bangles. I feel like I didnāt hear lyrics in songs until almost my 30s. Probably part of why I liked psytrance.
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone āØ4ā© āØhoursā© ago
Itās a nice groove from 1973. Not in the least bit part of any historical importance or music chart but, itās the earliest I can remember.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone āØ4ā© āØhoursā© ago
Canāt remember the very first - our house had a lot of music but most of it we made ourselves cos we all could play and us kids were all in the church choir. Maybe Cleo Laine in Porgy & Bess? Mum had the record and played it a lot. Didnāt discover āpopā music until my early teens - The Beatles made a huge impression as did Hermanās Hermits.

I was in a hurry the other week and stashed the tyre pump and battery separately. Found the pump yesterday and was like, yeah, I have a vague memory of that and thought hmm, maybe I took the battery (I have a few batteries so wouldnāt have noticed it was missing) back inside.
Nope, just found the battery somewhere I wouldnāt had thought to look if it wasnāt for my putting something else awayā¦

In office today Iām sitting next to someone relatively new (different team).
She had a fairly strong Russian accent and even a polite and innocent sentence sounds like a threat.

My child protection case manager was replaced by a lady with a thick Russian accent, too, and I got the same vibe tbh

So I opened up at work to some people how bad things have been with some higher ups, part of my stress is coming from work and how powerless I am to control a situation that was related to yesterday afternoon.
There was agreement in place to mitigate and manage the situation but that didnāt work yesterday and I was subjected to a lot of stress even with the aid of someone with me.
I had to make it clear that I need to be supported at work because inevitably the root cause of the problem is coming from work and they need to support me better because itās coming from work, I donāt believe that I should be seeking external help when the problem is actually coming from work.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone āØ9ā© āØhoursā© ago
Working in the garden in this humidity has turned me into a soggy mess. Itās not actually raining which is probably good - the weeding I did yesterday was in light rain, which was soggy but cooler. Hopefully I get the remaining plants in before any storms come over this afternoon - it is great for the plants to have lots of water after planting though, so the timing is great in that regard.
Iām hoping I havenāt gotten any sunburn - I thought I replaced the sunscreen in my toiletry bag last year, but apparently not. I went to put some on, found it had completely separated, and when I checked the date it expired in 2016. Oops. At least I have my hat.

Today was a pretty cruisy day. We had to go get new wheels, and then decided to head to the National Railway Museum in Port Adelaide. It was alright, but last year they stopped allowing people to enter the locomotives and carriages because apparently people were stealing shit and vandalizing everything. I get their decision, but that kind of took about 80% of the gun out. It was basically just walking alongside old locos with a bunch of barriers besides them with the occasional plaque about the history of it. Also wasnāt really national, state at best

They also had a little miniature railway. It was rideable, but a little freaky. Itās intended to youngānās, and while age wise, I qualify as a I younān (or so Iām told), I absolutely do not have either the height nor stature of a youngān. Damn thing almost tipped over when I got in š
Then we went to Okami for all you can eat Japanese food. I love Okami (hence why Iām probably capable of tipping miniature railways over), and came back for what was meant to be an early night but is rapidly becoming a late one (due for another 4am start tomorrow. Not sure why I do this to myself tbh)
Also got some cute postcards Iām gonna write up and post out tomorrow
