I felt that in my soul
Probably clear the STOP sign. If you’re flying over it, you don’t have to stop, right?
Cops hate this one trick! The STOP sign clearly is out of its jurisdiction above the sign itself.
Yeah I don’t think the stop sign applies to airborne vehicles
Technically true. I doubt planes stop for that stop sign after all.
This is a one in a lifetime opportunity, either way you will regret it.
How’s the roll cage on your car?
you can do it, but only once :-)
My intrusive thoughts go crazy when I see this.
Well that’s certainly one way of getting into the cemetery.
OMG, last week I was on the interstate as passenger behind one and recorded a brief video saying “Should we ramp it? Should we?..”
LOL, I haven’t bothered uploading it yet, but I might later.
Nah, we’re good man. Save the electrons.
Do you want to get chased by Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane? Because that’s how you get chased by Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane.
There’s no cone in front of it for a reason…
Here’s what that looks like. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QxLdb77-Ic
Here is an alternative Piped link(s): piped.video/watch?v=-QxLdb77-Ic
Piped is a privacy-respecting open-source alternative frontend to YouTube.
I’m open-source, check me out at GitHub.
That happened where I used to live Absolutely insane
Hold my beer!
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah! Offspring intensifies
Is this Florida? In which case get a bag of bath salts first.
It’s Southern California. What up Riverside fam?
They leave this lying around every once in a while, just so it’s barely plausible when you see a convenient trailer like this in a movie. Some prop master left this here to tempt you, like the devil.
Send it!
That’s freaky… Do you know that area, or are you pulling out EXIF or something else?
It’s a pseudo hobby of mine to attempt pin pointing a picture on google maps when enough information is visible in the picture/post context.
In this instance, I saw the street cones have “City of Riverside” stenciled on them, and zooming in I can see the street sign in the background says “Fourteenth St”.
So a gmaps search of “City of Riverside cemetery fourteenth st” got me to the right city block. After that it was “cruising around” in street view to find this intersection. I further confirmed with a unique gravestone on the right, and a gate in the background.
Finally, the exif info on this file looks like it’s stripped/scrubbed, no geo info or other hints to give away location. I’m hoping Lemmy by default strips exif info on upload (I know it’s a common practice for other social/image hosting apps).
That’s a bingo!
Hit the nas
Why are we hitting a New York area Rapper?
No hitting or I’ll tell mom.
With a stolen car, yes.
Or a rental car with the extra insurance package
14 hours later - how did it go?
Car still stuck in the power lines
the car would get any further that the cone in the back
Let us know how that works out for you. If you survive
Get those stunt points man!
There’s an invisible power-up at the end of that ramp.
that’s gotta be worth at least 5,000 points
Can’t unseen burnout track.
Is that the freebird solo i hear?
Do it!! We know from the Dukes that no matter how bent your car looks immediately after a jump, it’ll just immediately straighten out and keep driving!!1!!
Do it
YOLO!
Is that thing locked into that position? Or will it teeter forward as soon as you put the car’s weight on the front of it.

To preface this story, miraculously and thankfully no one was hurt:
Back in the day when I was young and excessively stupid and had my first car my buddy and I were driving around the city drunk as fuck. Doing laps on the highways circling the city, we drove through the college campus (like literally through the campus, stairways, quad, etc), and at one point I found some vacant hanger with what looked like a small airstrip.
So we’re testing the poor cars top speed (or more accurately how much can it vibrate before I loose control) and I see a ramp or what looked like a ramp. Obviously I swung around and floored it.
The car survived, but I learned that night to never ramp off anything in a car. Hitting the pavement was the most godaweful sound I’ve heard from a car firsthand.
Never ever ever EVER do anything like that, people. That has to be my dumbest night in my life. Decades later I’m still amazed no one was hurt and still shocked no one even saw us do all that shit. I would think it was a lucid dream if my buddy wasn’t there and talked about it the next day. That could have easily been the last night of our lives, and God forbid someone else’s.
TL;DR No, don’t try ramping off of it.

This ramps straight into a cemetery, though, so kinda a one stop shop, no?

You think of everything, don’t you, smart boy?

I don’t think your story has the intended effect. All you’re saying is that it was loud and scary but no one got hurt. If I was a dumbass teenager that would probably make me want to do it even more.
But yes, that would be incredibly stupid.

Ideally hearing stories is a way of experiencing them. And trying to make sure the people hearing the story understand is faults is a way of telling them not to make the same mistakes as in the story.
That’s how it worked for thousands of years until movies and TV.
If you’re just being pedemic about it though, then no there isn’t any story that’s going have it’s intended effect.

Every once in awhile I’ll see a very low hanging car carrier truck on the road, and I’ve always wanted to try just driving up onto it while they are still moving. I’m guessing you are the kind of person to tell me that’s a bad idea too.
ooterness@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Mythbusters did that once, and it worked just fine.

Depends. Can you make it before anyone realizes what’s going on?
