Normal people dont clap and just get off the fucking plane.

Why couldn’t he clap like normal people.

You must be fun at emergency evacuations

I start clapping as soon as the plane crash lands.

I mean if you survive you just got paid.
EggInDisguise@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 months ago
No, I’m with them. It’s weird to clap. Nobody who had a hand in your safe landing can hear you. The pilots can’t really hear much from the passengers in most aircraft, and are likely focusing on tons of other things.
YawningNostalgia@thelemmy.club 2 months ago
It was a joke Courtney
AliOski@feddit.nl 2 months ago
The stewards will hear it, and they could relay whether the passengers clapped or not to the pilots. It is still a form of feedback that may arrive to where it needs to be
Burninator05@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Probably not because the jerk flight attendant made me leave my party bag on the burning airplane because EVeRyoNE NeeDs TO lEAVe tHeIR bAGS evaCUaTe.

Come on, would the slab of beer really take that long to get down the slide?
Agent641@lemmy.world 2 months ago
If enough people don’t show their gratitude by clapping, the pilot will put the fucking thing into the side of a mountain

He was too busy immediately leaving from his seat in the back row to stand up
doingthestuff@lemy.lol 2 months ago
I know that looks dumb but I find it painful to sit for long periods of time and they don’t let you be stand around on the plane. I always get an aisle seat so that I can stand as soon as it lands. I know I’m not going anywhere for awhile but I can’t sit any longer.
nickiwest@lemmy.world 2 months ago
The aisle seat idea is pretty smart. I’m at a point in my life where, depending on my total travel time up to that point, it can be very important to stand up to let my hips straighten out for a while, even if we’re 15 minutes away from leaving the plane.
craftrabbit@lemmy.zip 2 months ago
I love window seats so much because you can just sit and wait until there’s space. What good does sprinting out of the plane do you? More waiting time at the baggage claim?
PabloSexcrowbar@piefed.social 2 months ago
One Christmas, returning from a trip to Florida to visit my parents, I ended up sitting on the plane longer than I’d have liked. My legs tend to hurt when I have to sit still for too long and I was really looking forward to having a chance to stand up. After a while, I did manage to get off the plane (clearly), but of course assumed I would then be forced to muscle my way through the roiling throngs at the baggage claim just to catch a glimpse of luggage belonging to strangers. However, I was mildly pleased to see that I was the first prospector to plumb the mines of Samsonite, and would not have to do battle in the Arena of the Carousel. I was still dejected at the idea of waiting still longer to retrieve my luggage and return to my hovel.
A minute or two later later, the alarm sounded, signalling that the sluices were opening, and, lo, first out of the curtains was a bag that looked suspiciously like mine. It couldn’t be, though. Things like that only happen in fairy tales. As it rounded the bend, though, I saw my initials emblazoned across the side, and my uneasy contentment turned to childlike joy as I seized my bag from the very front of the line. Had I not had a witness with me at the time, I would scarcely have believed it myself.
So anyway, that’s why I jump up and headbutt everyone in front of me as soon as the plane lands now.

I had a very similar experience once where the plane door opening and me sitting in the train home with my checked bag were about 15’ apart. Even though I took my time inside the plane, but also it was booked out very poorly.
Also, mother of mercy, what kinds of deals did you have to make to get to be able to spend this kind of flowery vocabulary on internet comments?? I envy your words.
TrickDacy@lemmy.world 2 months ago
You check luggage? Not everyone does. I just took a three week trip with a backpack that fits under the seat and a carry on. Waiting for luggage is so awful. What good is getting off the plane quickly? I mean how are people so okay with flying several hours then waiting minutes more just to stand. I want to be moving and stretching, to get home and shower. Last thing I wanna do is sit 10 more minutes because people are slow
Rooster326@programming.dev 2 months ago
After having the airline lose my bag, I will do literally anything to avoid going to baggage claim
I never have a bag to check
I will ship my luggage if I have to.
TrickDacy@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Man I had no clue that people have a problem with this. I guess I’ve been annoying to people by hunching a couple minutes so I can get off the plane quicker?
wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 months ago
Checking luggage is like gambling where the stakes are all your shit and the potential payoff is you get to keep all your shit. That’s the best possible outcome: you don’t lose all your shit. The only way to win is not to play.
craftrabbit@lemmy.zip 2 months ago
Fair enough, I haven’t had to make that experience yet. Guess I don’t fly enough for that, going places by train is way cooler anyways :3
TrickDacy@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Out of all the dumb shit people do on planes, we’re focusing on people standing too long? How about the assholes that rush forward to get off in front of you? How about the people who act like they’ve never flown before and take a fucking year to get off the plane? I feel like standing when it’s seen as pointless is about the least annoying thing done on a flight.
EggInDisguise@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 months ago
I mean, as long as you’re standing out of the way that’s perfectly fine to stretch your legs. Just don’t stand in the aisle while people are trying to get bags and move toward the front.
TrickDacy@lemmy.world 2 months ago
That much seemed obvious to me. The comment I replied to was seemingly mad that people stood up too quickly.
Kekzkrieger@feddit.org 2 months ago
Better stand up fast so you get to leave much earlier than everyone else.
BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world 2 months ago
I’d rather deal with the people who are standing and ready to immediately get off than the lazy ones who won’t stand but then want to hold up all the other passengers as they lazily grab their shit from the overhead compartments
