And they keep building cars with cup holders.

    • darkdemize@sh.itjust.works ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

“Cup holder” implies that you’re setting your drink down. The drink must remain in your hand at all times, otherwise it’s a party foul.

Ironically, cup holders were uncommon in cars when drink driving wasn’t illegal. lol

Strange rules and no country mentioned. I’m guessing it’s about the USA.

    source
    • ByteJunk@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Most countries prohibit sales of alcohol to minors, and when in doubt, the seller must ask for a form of ID. In the US, this is almost always a driver’s license, since there’s no national id card and state id isn’t mandatory AFAIK - people will use that though if they don’t have a driver’s license for some reason.

Do you guys have some kind of app to verify your age that can be used in most stores?

In the US you can purchase alcohol with the use of a government issued ID card, drivers license, passport, or active duty military ID as all are government issued IDs which display ones age.

I don’t know, man. Based on language alone, at first I thought of Bermuda.

Passport or just an id card work as well.

Why do bars have parking lots?

    source
    • a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

More importantly, why do lots have parking bars?

For real, I need to know this immediately to explain it to my parole officer.

Its where you leave your plutonic life partner while you shop for gender neutral frocks.

Back in the 80s they had drive thrus where you could by alcoholic slushies

    • Siethron@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Pretty sure drive-thru dackeries are still a thing on Bourbon Street in New Orleans

      source
      • ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

They’re still a thing everywhere in Louisiana. They put a piece of scotch tape over the lid which of course is just a completely unsolvable puzzle until you get home with it.

    You dont tho

  • Etterra@discuss.online ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

You don’t actually need a driver’s license if you have a different photo ID issued by the government, typically a state ID.

    source
  • LodeMike@lemmy.today ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

You don’t. You need a state ID. Most people just happen to have a drivers license too.

    source
  • bandwidthcrisis@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

    And drive-thru liquor stores.

If you’re not meant to dabble in addiction, why are there rehabs?

    source
  • stickyprimer@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

You don’t. My first fake id was someone’s old military id.

    source
  • HikingVet@lemmy.ca ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

You don’t though. I’ve never had a license yet I can get booze.

    source
  • stupidcasey@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Technically the drivers license is a field sobriety test, you have to be at least drunk enough to operate a motor vehicle under the influence before you can buy alcohol, they sometimes have you breath in an exhaust pipe if they think you are really sober.
