  I’m a little on the fence, I live where it’s cold and the batteries are a common fail point, plus long nights need larger batteries and more panels to charge them too. So depending on how important it is, it should probably be hooked up to the grid as well. A little redundancy, but a properly integrated system could provide to the grid when there’s extra (long summer days and short nights) and take when it’s needed (long winter nights.)

  Hrmm, this got me thinking a little actually. Where I am, there isn’t much wind, but other provinces do, we were mainly coal and LPG powered, still are. But solar is on the upswing, our city has multiple massive solar farms.

  Anyways, what got me thinking is why we don’t have wind as well, I’m wondering if just due to the almost daily wind spikes being on the east side of the Rockies? How often would the be locked out would make them unfeasible?

  Maybe there’s some study on it I can dig up later.

  If you put everything in the center, so there’s airflow around the entire freezer, but the middle is packed solid, there’s the required airflow to prevent what you’re talking about.

  I never said it was packed solid tight you couldn’t stick anything else in. I said the middle specifically.

  How do you think intermodal shipping works? They repack the containers everytime it changes hands?

  That implies you take your vehicle home? Most places they have a depot to leave the vehicles and they fill them up at night and it’s ready to go when you walk in the office.

  Conversely though, there is ways to use the same tech to provide cheaper “infrastructure” as well though.

  My city they use them to provide lighted crosswalks and flashing stops signs where they are less noticeable. So to have Flock and NOT those, there’s some axes to grind.

  It’s a self contained unit, the battery is in the unit, not elsewhere, and it actually saves tearing up roads to run power to these units.

  Large companies can’t. A company building a hospital, isn’t going to have another job lined up, to start the day the one ends. The first job probably won’t be done on time, now you have two jobs going and only the same amount of employees. The last part of building is always the biggest rush to finalize punchlists and everything.

  Smaller companies, yeah they typically can operate that way.

  The company also has to get paid for the first job, before they can have the equity to be able to even buy materials for the next job.

  Same thing, apprentices are now journeyman and can work on their own, and new apprentices can do the same work for a third of the price.
