  Clock reading was covered in kindergarten and cursive writing taught in 1st grade. These were some of the first wrinkles pushed into our little growing brains in the early 80s by school. That these things are no longer being taught so early explains why so many people are willing to immediately accept the Google AI overview as gospel and are wearing Crocs everywhere they go.

  Empanadas is one I might disappoint you on. I frequently cheat and use plain old pie crust, sometimes homemade, but often store bought. Once built, I chill them to not quite frozen and fry them in my fish fryer. Baked empanadas are just hand pies, by my reckoning.

  Porridge is more like wetter oatmeal, but doesn’t have to be oats. Cream of wheat probably classifies as a porridge. I prefer barley porridge.

  Stew (and gumbo) is thicker than soup, the liquid being more like gravy, so potpies are kinda like a pastry full of stew often made as single servings.

  Shepherd’s pie can be that wet but isn’t always and has a roof of mashed potatoes and no pastry. It’s really not a pie at all.

  If calzone and pierogi are dumplings then so are pastel and empanadas. Personally I’m fine with that.

  If I’m wrong about any of these I would enjoy being corrected, but these are all things I cook with some regularity so my opinions are deeply held.

  Recording has been my only hangup, but I’ve been too lazy to do what I need to do, lol, I just diverted to playing my acoustic instruments. But Blender and my slicing software just worked.

  Saw a guy do this on one that had been put in the intersection of a couple of country roads in North Georgia for some odd reason. Car hit it at speed, came off the ground nearly a foot, absolutely destroyed the undercarriage when it landed. Legend! Oil and coolant and likely fuel everywhere. I did not check the driver before rolling off as he came out cussing a storm about who put that there?
