“We tested the aerodynamics of dogs in search of answers.”
“What was the question?”
“The results are that some dogs are very aerodynamic.”
“WHAT WAS THE QUESTION??”

If we move a dog up to 200 mph, they are very aerodynamically efficient

Even in the most basic research having an hypothesis is important, even just to say “I was completely wrong, but in the end extremely lucky and found something I didn’t expect nobody cares about”.
Hypothesis Aerodynamics experimentation does not damage internal organs of dogs.
Conclusions: Our findings suggest that wind tunnels are not dangerous to the well being of dogs. Such findings open new research opportunities in the field of dog aerodynamics.

How are mongolian dogs able to withstand the harsh mongolian steppe winds without falter ?
Possible applications in biomimetism :
- building tanks and airplanes shaped like mongolian dogs for steppe warfare
- ??..?

Wtf there are so many things we could learn from this; if their tail can be used to adjust and how much, why the lunga are in front, idk it’s absolutely not the most useless experiment I have seen

A reminder that science is never about usefulness - that comes up unexpectedly after we learn new things.
Ohhh… we could use this weird fact to build an entirely new industry

A project I was working on recently involved HPC systems and we had to submit test jobs.
We were using very expensive compute that others get scarce credits for time on, but we had carte-blanche for development purposes.
One of our guys that was a HPC expert had a background in science.
He showed us how to configure jobs for stupid shit, and we ran them.
Eventually we enjoyed simulating the collapse of a star compromised of different things. The peanut butter neutrino star was my favorite.
I wish we’d done some more fluid testing seeing this
