Feel like if it was another country they’d be sanctions or something already.
They respect other nations sovereignty plus there is a mad man with his finger on the nuke button who is very jittery.

Uhhhhhhh???
Might’ve meant (the rest of the world) by “they”.
Must have missed a “dont” on his keyboard.
Because it’s your own fucking mess.
I could be mistaken, but I don’t think that they’re a US citizen asking for help.
As a US citizen, I would expect the rest of the world not do anything - the fuck have we done for them? And even if things had been done at some point, why rock the boat now?
Let the US collapse, boycott our exports, ridicule Trump when he travels. Fuck this country, let it burn.
oh, no, you misinterpreted OP
they’re not wondering why nobody is helping. they’re wondering why nobody is cutting them off
Gotcha. Well, in that case, I think everyone should be cutting off more. I want to see the US economy get decimated.
(I realize I’m coming off super aggro, but I just don’t see how else everyone here is going to wake up)
The US is already sanctioning itself through tariffs, and the rest of the crap is domestic problems.
The rest of the world has been trying to do something and has received threats from Trump in return.
What can anyone do? The USA has the strongest military force in the world.
And they are being “sanctioned” by tourists avoiding going to the USA
Also the USA has nukes. No one’s going to invade us, because doing so would be a destructive act, and the final order of any armed state is to nuke its attackers. This is the same reason North Korea gets to remain its defiant self when their army could be obliterated in a few bombing runs. This isn’t even counting all the non-nuclear weaponry we have. Think of that annual budget of hundreds of billions of dollars in military spending that keeps getting raised every year…
US "allies" haven't gotten the memo yet, US enemies aren't going to interrupt America while it's killing itself and non-aligned nations don't give a shit. Human rights abuses are almost never the real reason for sanctions, just like the US didn't invade Iraq to spread democracy.
Seems like Canada is making an impact.
It may not be official sanctions but If there’s any credence to the news, it seems like there are movements to fund more reliable trading partners. It’s tough to make an immediate impact but we’ll see over time how much we’ve screwed ourselves. Will Canadian snowbirds come back? Will China (or anyone) buy our soybeans? Will manufacturers, such as for automobiles, be able to stay in business?
Will Canadian snowbirds come back?
Unlikely. The USA was already quite hated in Canada for the arrogance and exceptionalism of its citizens but this whole thing has sort of sealed the deal for most people here
The US was already mildly disliked for that general civilian arrogance but most Canadians overlooked it say 15 to 20 years ago. Now when American arrogance is recognized, its seen as unequivocally contentious vs. being harmlessly obnoxious.
I’ve met several Americans that seemed to think the financial might of Wall St or the sacred reverence with which they hold their constitution somehow made their existence more meaningful, fulfilling or even valid. They had the genuine belief that everyone wanted to be in their position even though their specific material circumstances were often worse and their priorities were warped in many ways.
From a Canadian perspective I might have put my hand on their shoulder and said “Cool”. Now I’d put my hand on their shoulder and say “You’re stupid” which is many ways more grace than some deserve.
Why didn’t the world sanction Russia over Chechnya or China over Tibet? It has to have a certain impact on everyone before they’ll do anything.
We’re not going to liberate you. You brought this upon yourselves.
I think part of the issue being brought up here is
They did. Are you guys not a democracy?
There are bigger and worse threats than the USA out there, and it’s more beneficial to trade with the USA than to not trade with the USA. You could rationalize that the USA might be more likely to fix itself while sanctioned, make them realize their mistakes, but you would at the same time be severely lowing the West’s military capabilities in a time of eastern aggression.
Making Trump realize his mistakes? Yeah, somehow I dont see that happening…
The insinuation is that the USA citizens would learn and then somehow magically overthrow the world’s most powerful military.
I’m mostly surprised that there’s been little response to the boat blasting.
Letting them rot in the outcome of everything they do now. I say that is a fair amount of doing something about them.
Never interrupt your enemy while they’re making a mistake.
Nations operate under a a zero sum game. They’ll never actually act unless it gets them something in return. Considering the potential risk in directly acting against the US it’d have to be a big return.
Not acting “for free” does not mean zero-sum game.
I am no expert but I don’t think nations need to (or do, in general) operate on a zero-sum game. Actions can benefit both sides.
Because there’s nothing to do anything about. Why would they be sanctioned?
Most international markets run thru NYC, and thus America.
So while other countries can sanction, everyone that could make that call has money in rates in NYC and would risk personally being sanctioned.
It’s a huge fucking deal, and silver lining is other countries are most likely taking steps to become more independent.
Which is a good thing over all.
It’s kind of like the Fediverse really…
Current market is basically Facebook era. Everyone is using NYC, so if you get “banned” you lose access to a lot of stuff.
The Fediverse splits the load, and if banned from an instance you just lose the slice that didn’t like whatever you did.
I got a assume that other countries are doing it, since even now Texas is doing it:
The Texas exchange hopes to benefit from companies that are frustrated with regulations like Nasdaq’s Board Diversity Rule, and increasing compliance costs that come with listing on the exchanges, the Journal reported.
investopedia.com/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-…
So the rest of the world is freaking out Conservatives control the American market, and conservatives are also freaking out they control the American market…
Why? US foreign policy hasn’t changed since manifest destiny so threats to attack are literally nothing new, it’s still ““aiding”” a lot of western countries with stationed soldiers in case some countries outside the western bloc decides to attack, nuclear tests is a bit more iffy after the cold war, but can easily be justified by wars breaking out…
There’s genuinely no reason to cut ties with US for any country, doing so would just shoot it in the foot since you lose one of the largest economies for trade.
The corrupt politicians of the world want to enable his idiocracy to make their own poor behaviour seem more socially acceptable internationally.
US "allies" haven't gotten the memo yet, US enemies aren't going to interrupt America while it's killing itself and non-aligned nations don't give a shit.
