Yeah, solarpunk predates the ad, that is very true. It’s still funny that so much of the modern solarpunk ad is based on the advert

If that’s the conclusion you’re taking from me saying “maybe adopting your political views and ideology from a couple of drawings and a commercial is silly”, then you’re absolutely correct. After all, there’s either solarpunk or doomerism - nothing in between, no alternatives, just those two options.
My god, I doubt that even the artists who draw solarpunk take the movement seriously enough to go for such bad faith leaps of logic as you.

Nothing wrong with enjoying art and media that envisions a future, but when you look at the art and go “hmm i’m gonna make this my ideology, my political identity” with no (or very little) research/analysis on what we currently have, what needs changing, how this change would be achieved etc, then don’t be surprised when some people don’t take it seriously.

Imagine having an ideology thats based on a yogurth commercial

I went through the same exact thing somewhat ““recently”” after realizing reforms aren’t gonna do jack shit, media creating narratives obfuscating reality and this obfuscation of reality being heavily bought into by people both online and irl.
You’re likely getting radicalized leftward, and this emotion and panic is a temporary part of it. It has happened to me and to others in the past, but this intense feeling eventually passes.
What helped me personally in the later stages was getting a coherent worldview, reading and studying some political theory so you can actually spot what doesn’t fit in the news and in the comments, know what’s actually in your interest to support rather than falling for some general moralizations, etc.
I’m down to talk more about it if you need it, this can really be hard to go through alone (speaking from experience).

OSRS is legit on its way to become bigger than it was in 2007 on miniclip days, it broke 250k players recently I believe, there’s also been a WoW streamer exodus towards OSRS too
So yes

Yeah, that’s why they added the GE tax

From what I’ve pieced together, it’s a guy from a MAGA family that was recently radicalized, possibly in college towards left-wingism. There’s not that much evidence to suggest he was a far-righter himself (the groyper claims are literally just “yeah the engravings are a dogwhistle trust me bro” but many libs here are buying it), and now it’s just turning into a war of push from both sides being like “no it’s not OUR guy it’s YOUR guy!”.
In other words, it’s impossible to tell for certain due to how deliberately muddied the waters are by everyone.
- Comment on Why do conservatives define being fascist solely as "being violent?" 2 weeks ago:
I find it funny how this question is being asked on Lemmy of all places, where the definition of fascism has been completely lost (essentially now being some vague notion of right-wing evil)

Thought it was obvious given how “every person in the world” and “practical” was in the same comment lol

Ok but have you considered that if literally every person on the planet did this, climate change would immediately be fixed??
You’re just a HATER of practical solutions…

Yup, though I lowkey prefer it because EU posts tend to attract more Hitlerite takes and comments. There’s just something about other Europeans that make them have an elevated level of nationalism

Not claiming that everyone is overreacting, but how stupid a lot of anti-AI arguments are. Artists drawing art for a living gets painted not as a job, but as some sort of a fun recreational activity ignoring that artists have to do commissions or draw whatever’s popular with their fan base that pays their bills via patreon, which in other words is the process of commodifying oneself aka work.
Also this ignores AI companies stealing blatnatly copyrighted material to feed their AI.
Not saying that you’re necessarily one of those people, but this argument often pops up in leftist spaces who previously were anti-IP, which is a bit hypocritical. One moment people are against intellectual property, calling it abusable, restrictive, etc, but once small artists start getting attacked then the concept has to be defended.
As an artist
womp womp you’ll have to get a real job now /s

B-But you don’t understand, AI DESTROYS le epic self employed artists and their bottom line! Art is a sacred thing that we all do for fun and not for work, therefore AI that automates the process is EVIL!

There wasn’t really a material need to invent concepts such as agriculture, debt and other kinds of concepts we recognize as part of documented human history and development. There’s no need to farm if few humans there are can sustain themselves via farming and gathering, neither do you need wheels for transportation. Once there was a historical need due to higher populations or weather not allowing foraging, that’s when the concepts got invented and allowed us to build on that with other discoveries and concepts that led us here.
