I have found myself in a Reddit disagreement where I cannot at all follow the logic of the other parties. I expect they would say the same about what I am saying. It feels a bit like trying to debate a flat earther, there appears to be some sort of fundamental disagreement about the rules of the universe. It makes my brain hurt.

    • SaneMartigan@aussie.zone ⁨8⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

There’s a lot to be said for simply dropping your side of the conversation in that situation.

      source
      • RustyRaven@aussie.zone ⁨7⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

There is. It can end up like poking a loose tooth though, you just can’t stop yourself. It feels like you are so close to understanding that just one more snippet of information will bring illumination, but it just keeps failing to happen.

Alright I’ve finally gotten to play it.

Holy shit it’s amazing with high gain!

My hands feel weird moving around with the extra string. I keep making little mistakes, over or under extending my fingers.

It’ll take some getting used to, but it’s absolutely worth it.

    source
    • tombruzzo@aussie.zone ⁨11⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

Is that a 7 string? They feel weird at first but then you get used to it. Some people get so used to the 7 string they can’t go back to 6 strings

      source
      • Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone ⁨10⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

Yeah it is. Just the placement of the thickest string relative to the bridge feels really weird. So my fingers automatically go for the 2nd string and not the 1st.

        Muscle memory huh lol

It’ll Defs take some getting used to.

ā€œno one cares who I was until I put on the maskā€ oooh yeah it’s CPAP trial time. Have a full mask to start because thats what I tried at the hospital study and it worked ok. It’s pretty cumbersome so I might use the trial period to try others šŸ¤žšŸ»šŸ˜“šŸ˜“

You know that feeling of revulsion you get when you hear a sound like nails on a chalkboard or teeth against metal? It’s called ā€œgrimaā€ (from Spanish)

Bring Her Back, an Australian horror movie released recently will give you this sensation. Body horror combined with supernatural elements make it into my top 20 favourite horror films list.

Well that’s this work week over, i haven’t counted down the hours this much in a long time.

Looks like it will take 5-7 working days for both the ATO and super fund to get their stuff organised and both parties are all ā€˜this is weird it’s never happened before, this needs escalation (10 minute hold)’. oh well, this is why people get accountants even though this really should’ve been very straightforward. I’ve done what I can for now.

On a vaguely related note, really glad that mandatory payday super is kicking in next year. Kinda BS knowing how much is just sitting around not earning interest for 3 months.

I have to finalise my campervan/campsite bookings tomorrow and then it’s just a matter of waiting till the end of the month and going on my veeeeeeery badly needed break.

Sometimes you can do everything perfect and the person still isn’t in a space to receive it or come out of that spiral. Love isn’t a substitute for therapy, medication or whatever he needs, so he has to think about what would help him.

Make sure to look after yourself. You can support him but make sure to spread the load and ensure you’re not trying harder than he is. You can’t do it all

Just checked the train replacements on the Mernda/Hurstbridge line. Bus replacements until last service SUNDAY 20/7!!! Must be one hell of a fault at Clifton Hill. link I reckon it’ll last longer than that though.

My significant win this week is that my hair is looking…actually good. Simple chunky bob for the win. šŸ’‡

    source
    • SpinMeAround@aussie.zone ⁨18⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

Nice hair can make a big difference to how you feel! My hair is butt length and an absolute PITA, but when it’s shiny and behaving, I love it. However, now that I’m swimming 3 x week, I’m thinking about lopping it off.

    • Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone ⁨13⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

      The bob is underrated

Reminder for people with moles and just any spots on their skin to get a skin check or at least check your skin regularly! Even a pimple looking thing that doesn’t go away could be something.

I was giving death stares to a person taking a very long phone call in the open plan area pacing around, outside of their office so as to not bother their staff but instead bothering everyone in the open plan area including myself (make it make sense). Doesn’t use the phone / scream booths right in front of him. Anyway, he finally got the message from my death stares and said ā€œsorryā€ and went back into his office to finish the call. That’s my win for the day.

Just read that because of Mecca’s new store in Bourke St grand opening, they are shutting down trams going through the Bourke St mall from Russell to Swanston st for four hours on Friday 8 August. I find that pretty appalling they’d do that for a shitty retail store opening

    source
    • LowExperience2368@aussie.zone ⁨14⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

Mecca is the epitome of teenage to 20 something year old girls buying an overpriced lip balm because someone on Tik Tok said it was good. Avoid like the plague. I remember when Mecca was tiny and now there’s a new brand there every few months.

They also have deals with certain brands so they’re ā€œMecca exclusiveā€ in Australia, so people from here miss out on the sales the brands have in other countries.

      source
      • Force_majeure123@aussie.zone ⁨13⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

I remember also reading about their sales regularly having expired products for sale 🤮

    • Pilk@aussie.zone ⁨13⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

I’m not sure appalled is a proportionate emotion? Though it’s been a rough week for commuters.

I hope everyone will be choosing their waterproof mascara though, could be quite cold and wet.

      source
    • just_kitten@aussie.zone ⁨13⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

Yeah, gutting that public amenity and infrastructure once again takes second place to private corporate interests. I kinda think the public should find out what Mecca paid in compensation to shut down a section of PT for their own profit.

They can go down to 9 these days. There’s ones that have even more range sometimes too

      • Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone ⁨13⁩ ⁨hours⁩ ago

It allows for a much lower in tone tuning which works really well for heavier music.

It sounds like an odd mix of percussive and melodic.

Got today and tomorrow off work to spend with Minipeelers. Also I have a parcel to collect 😃I think my balaclava/hood things have arrived (I love those things; I wear them in scarf/snood mode during the day to keep my neck warm and make my apron sit correctly, and pull up the hood if it’s extra cold or raining. It’s been a winter game changer for me). What to do? I know they want to go to Melbourne Central and an art supply shop. Art supply shops are expensive tho, and I usually wing it with $2 shops where I can get small canvasses and acrylic paints for a fraction of the price.

I got the email to say that my certificate will be ready in a couple of weeks, and that I’ve met all the requirements (paid up, passed all modules, etc). Then I can include it with my applications instead of just saying ā€œI passed! I swear! Pinky promise!ā€

Workforce is on to me though, and wants me to find a job service provider. I’ve heard so many horror stories I don’t even know where to start. And I’m still limited by only having my learner’s license, I’m still saving up to buy a bunch of bulk lessons. That’s all a morning problem though lol.
