As a kid we always had shampoo and conditioner in the shower. Nobody used bodywash or soap. We washed our hair once in a while and thats it. We washed our bodies too, but just water. Anyway I’m in my 40s and still never started with bodywash, it’s seriously something you don’t need. I do use shampoo but that is more because I like it, it’s also unnecessary.

Yeah, the whole changing your underwear every week? I found it out to be unnecessary as well.

LMAO, brother fucking stinks and nobodies bothered to tell them.
We use soap to wash away the stubborn oils that cling to our skin. Water can wash away the dirt and some of the scents, but over time that oil and musk is gonna build up and give you the sort of funk that’s reminiscent of dry aged beef and a crawl space.
You may think you don’t stink, but thats cause you’re nose blind. I’ve met many people who don’t believe in soap, and they all have the same muskiness to them. It varies from person to person, sometimes it’s not THAT bad, but it’s always there.

Nose blindness is terrible when you’re autistic. Or when you just had a vacation with no plans and just spent it all inside killing time being depressed.

Bar soap?

Nothing is good. In my culture people don’t use a lot of parfumes. Mostly anti-perspirats.
It’s always a pain to meet foreign representatives that use aftershave and parfumes like it was a mosquito repellant and leave behind a trail that is still detectable 15 min after they’re gone.

Only a bitch ass baby boy cares what it smells like over being clean. It’s not a permanent solution so why care? What’s more manly, a man who is scared of a scent, or one who can deal with a scent they don’t like for a wash or two?
tomi000@lemmy.world 5 days ago
Wow at the amount of people judging this persons whole personality based on 10 words they typed while in a bad mood.
I personally also hate rose scent and wouldnt want to use it either, but there are def nicer ways of handling it.

Sounds like something a bitch would say.

Instead of getting over himself he chooses to literally smell like a bitch lmao what an idiot
Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 5 days ago
If he wants a raw manly scent, why is he using soap at all?

I don’t think this is toxic masculinity or even abnormal. Some guys don’t like pink, don’t like smelling like flowers, don’t want to wear dresses. We can accept people who have different diverse preferences without looking down on people for conforming to traditional preferences.

yeh but the other person was being a condescending prick about it.

“Some”? I would say “most”. Why do you think that is? Just a coincidence?
secretlyaddictedtolinux@lemmy.world 5 days ago
My whole point is why shouldn’t be shocked or annoyed that a guy doesn’t want to smell like daiseys and roses.
There’s nothing wrong with being who you are. That means we should be supporting effeminate gay people, supporting trans people, but also supporting guys who don’t want to smell like girl scents.
I do not think that gender norms or toxic masculinity is the cuprit. Some dudes really don’t like dresses and do like trucks. It’s not all just because of norms.

When you’re enough of a masculine individualist manly man to not be able to use floral-scented body wash for a day, but not enough of one to get by with hand soap for that day.

not everyone wants to smell like a rose

And if you didn’t know…it’s a real thing. I just learned about it today.
