There are people who study this shit in an academic setting.

I loved it. Blew the first game out of the water. Found absolutely nothing about the narrative to be confusing and I’m not even sure how that would be possible.
Everyone was just pissed at the events of the beginning of the game (trying to avoid spoilers), but I honestly thought it was brilliant and an amazing way to keep the (far superior now) story going.
Joel was a piece of shit who deserved to die, it really doesn’t matter that you played as him for 40 hours or whatever. In fact, that makes it even better imo.

Check out the film Matawan. Based on real events in West Virginia. And that was just one event, and I believe the beginning of years of bloody clashes.
There were essentially wars fought within this country between unions and union-busting agencies (often backed by the US government) like the Pinkertons and Baldwin Felts.
Check out The Battle of Blair Mountain, it’s wild stuff: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Blair_Mountain
It’s a real shame to see what states like West Virginia have become. Their union forebearers would be rolling in their graves to see what they’ve become. It’s shameful.

They spend time squabbling about the worker that barely get by doing the bare minimum but knows the rules. Meanwhile the really hard workers get fired for one time mistakes
I don’t believe you that this is a thing that you have personally experienced in a union.
Meanwhile the really hard workers get fired for one time mistakes
Usually literally contractually impossible based on the contract that was negotiated by the union’s collective bargaining bloc.
Unions are ultimately groups of people. If you don’t like the priorities and direction of the leadership, then you vote for new leadership.
Everyone gets paid more, including the ones who work really hard. They just don’t get to steal their coworkers job because they had a rough month at home and didn’t meet some bullshit made up quota. No, you support that coworker, because they deserve a living wage too, even if they’re going through something.
Even if that thing is opaque and is appears to others as “laziness”. Shit ain’t your business beyond ”i hope things get better for them, and I am so glad that the leave they need to take will not permanently ruin them financially and force their family to move back with their inlaws in goddamn India or wherever.
Like Jesus, have some common fucking decency for your coworkers.
News flash: working harder than you need to does not get your more money in non-union positions either. You just end up with more responsibility and less free time.

It takes a long time and a concerted effort to morph a healthy union into what’s basically organized crime (see: police “unions”).
Otherwise, unions are just groups of people. People can be corrupt, and healthy unions have mechanisms and safeguards for excising that corruption.
The F.O.P. isn’t created overnight. It’s built on generation upon generation of corrupt cops covering for each other. That is not a union, that’s a gang.

- Comment on Amazon thought it would be a good idea to not include subtitles in a film made entirely with sign language. 2 weeks ago:
The worst is when you’re watching something with subtitles (in your own language because it’s hard to hear sometimes), then someone on screen speaks a different language with the subtitles hardcoded into the video.
Great, right?
Well no, because Amazon’s (or Netflix etc, they all do it) subtitles have a big “[Speaks German]” up the entire time, blocking the hard coded subs entirely so you cannot see what they say without temporarily disabling subs.
It’s so fucking stupid and infuriating. How have they not addressed this shit?
- Comment on Pizza Party and Casual Fridays 2 weeks ago:
They successfully got rid of Roe, and now you’ve got half a generation of boomers with no real ideology. They’re the dog that caught the car.
So they have it spoonfed to them by Fox News, et al. without even a moment of reflection.
And now for many of the ones who might have once had a chance of listening to reason, they’ve gone into the ultimate sunk cost territory. That is, they’ve caused not only fascism to destroy their country, they have ensured that the planet will not be livable for their grandchildren.
So they must lean more more into dispensationalism and Armageddon theology.
I mean, what else can they do, admit to themselves that they’ve ultimately made miserable (and drastically shortened) the lives of their own grandchildren.
And for what?

Once it clicks, it’s like riding a bike. Started a second playthrough a year after beating it, and I beat Genichiro first try.
Peak game design.
Best From Software game in terms of movement and exploration. Best From game in terms of plot and presentation of that plot (it’s not completely opaque).
Not only the best combat in any From game, but the best combat in any third person game, period imo. It’s perfect, and the feeling you get when you finally get the timing right and beat a boss, is second to none.
Because you know that it was all you. No cheese builds, no OP weapons. You get better because you get better. And it makes every single win feel like a legitimate accomplishment.
I’d love to see a sequel

20 “When a man strikes his slave, male or female, with a rod and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be avenged. 21 But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be avenged, for the slave is his money.
They Old Testament were rules for the Hebrews, and in it there are rules for how to treat your Hebrew slaves. Huh.
“Now these are the rules that you shall set before them. 2 When you buy a Hebrew slave,[a] he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing. 3 If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. 4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out alone. 5 But if the slave plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,’ 6 then his master shall bring him to God, and he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall be his slave forever.
