The contrast of her black fur against the pink lining almost looks 'shopped. Look at that cute bundle!

Thank you all for voting in the f&c vs. home salmon competition. Your input was greatly appreciated in assisting with this monumental decision. Strong start for the f&c party but some very compelling arguments for home salmon later in the day. I was changing my mind every 5 mins. My entire ethics and personality were at stake…
However, i regret to betray everyone’s enthusiasm and inform you all that out of nowhere a third, unexpected candidate appeared about an hour into my salon experience and increasingly gained on the others despite a complete lack of campaigning. In the end, for the reasons outlined below, I went with this reliable third party.
The winner: fish curry and calamari masala from MKS Spices.
please find below my reasoning for this upsetting result
* Haircut got delayed by halfa. * Google maps showed a 30 min plus drive back and the f&c wasn’t going to stay fresh. * Didn’t want to eat at the shop and get full whack of traffic. * But also increasingly convinced I didn’t want to cook tonight after waiting so long. Wanted to eat as soon as I got home and not have to brave my local overstimulating shops. Did not want to clean up oil etc after frying salmon. Got started on an ebook that I wanted to get back to straight away. * Developed craving for spice due to unexpected pangs of comfort-seeking. * F&c is everywhere but MKS-style food is few and far between. Unlikely I’d go for weeks. * MKS was just a 4 min drive away and didn’t add much to my overall travel time. * Remembered I needed to buy frozen green chillies anyway. * Bought like 3 meals worth of food (sans rice) for like $25 * Had leftover rice at home * Bonus: got to buy some fresh string hoppers to eat over the weekend (definitely not easy to get anywhere else near town).
thank you and please enjoy your respective dinners. 🍽️ 🍛 🍲

This is the equivalent of if Pauline Hanson unexpectedly won the federal election somehow at the last minute
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
No, it’s the Greens goddammit! Pauline wouldn’t put up with curry. She’s the original f&c proprietor

I feel cheated!
Glad you were able to stock up though. 🙂
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Yes, I grabbed some frozen cluster beans as well (I always have a craving for this but you can’t ever get it fresh here). All in all a good outcome. Next two weeks will be busy so f&c remains an option then.

I broke the connecting strap of my little shoulder bag 🙁
As today is a chill day before footy tonight, I’m venturing out for a new one

Trying my hand at digitising the slides from Nepal from 1998/9 on the cheap.
Basically 1970’s high end german projector (with its original bulb!) showing slides on a white wall in the living room… piccys / slides originally taken by a 1980’s olympus analog cam then taking a photo with my pretty ordinary dslr.
Actually surprised it doesn’t seem like the worst idea.

New attitude makes work a lot better.
While I’m there I’m in the zone. Then I’m done.
Nice and easy.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 1 year ago
That’s great to hear. I am glad. I hope the new joint is working out better too.
I’ve had a couple of long days and have done four days in the office but that’s actually helped my put it down after work. And finally starting to feel that work life split again. Stopped and stared at the water for a bit on the way home. Baby steps.

right, that’s it. today’s over. Everyone go home.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 year ago
The bed and bedside tables have now been picked up. The dining chairs and Miss Meow’s new cat trees are in the van as well, I’m going to pack as much other stuff as I can around all that to take up tomorrow.
The mop to go with the mop bucket arrived today, so I’m all set to give the floors a quick once over to remove whatever dust has settled. The carpets can get a quick vacuum on a later visit.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
good luck with rest of the move

Long ass day.
The extended cat family and the fluffy freeloader have been fed.
Maybe I get to eat now?
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago

I wonder what the food’s like in the conclave. I’m thinking a choice of 3 pastas, 3 sauces, carvery, soft serve etc. A bit like Smorgy’s.

i think they probably get food delivered to their private rooms
they must have huge kitchens at that place, like a palace , it’s both a workplace and a home to hundreds

Tv dinner it is.
Pilk@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I was thinking this last night. Do they keep it super simple and palatable? Lots of countries and palates to represent … not sure if they get a ham and cheese sandwich and a juice box for lunch?
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Not on Fridays. They bring in spag marinara on Fridays.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Maybe lasagne and garlic bread on the side. Everyone loves lasagne. Also they must ALL eat the garlic bread.
Whatever it is the nun’s will be busy.

Ants 🐜 🐜🐜
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I have a love hate relationship with ants
I do not want them in my house and spent the first 2 weeks in the new place battling invasions
but I do want them in my orchids as they have a symbiotic relationship with orchid living funguses , a symbiosis that nurtures growth and flowering

blue heron was there 🙂
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I don’t know if it’s still the case but you used to be able to redeem partial bills in Australia. Who knows, a bank might give you $6 for it.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
it’s pretty beat up got a rip and ink has worn off too
I’ll keep it as a beach find 🙂
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Got home from work yesterday and had an absolute meltdown on boyo, so took it as a sign to have today off and apply for some more jobs. Beach walk, yummy brunch, some applications done, following along with Erin Patterson’s trial.
Also bought Expedition 33 last night!

It sucks that happened. I hope you can find something else and maybe French Persona helps you blow off some steam.

Hugs 🫂. It happens. I cracked it over grated cheese last week. The message got through but not my greatest moment.

Miss Meow fully approves of the new L shape scratcher. So far she has been indifferent to the corner scratcher, I’ll have to wait and see if she feels like investigating it after a nap.
I’ve also put plastic guards along the front of the couch and armchairs, which is her preferred scratching area but not mine.

What the hell bro. There two of the same number trams one after the other. I decided to get on the second one because way more empty. Second tram driver signalling at me like crazy to get on the first one instead?? Why. They still stopped and let me on but why you gotta be like that

Got a new vet today and he refused to perform cystocentis due to Melbcat having had 2 recently (?). Sent us home with pain relief to get a sample the traditional way despite how hard and unreliable it is with her.
Cut to Melbcat being very sooky and unwell tonight, getting a sample hours after closing but being unsure when she did it, and having to uber the dodgy sample in tomorrow while exhausted with no supports on. I’m going to ring the clinic on opening tomorrow and ask that antibiotics be dispensed when I bring it in because she absolutely has a uti.
If he had just listened to me she could have begun treatment tonight 😒

Chilling in Pender Park before my haircut. This is a pretty cute little park, great trees, gorgeous in the autumn sun.
Help me decide, should I get f&c nearby the salon after my haircut or should I go buy some salmon to pan fry with some air fryer chips? I’m a bit loathe to cook and clean but it might also be good for me nervous system to do something with my hands and I can probably get more salmon for less $ if I do it myself. Otoh, I’m not that tight for cash atm and I kind of like the dopamine hit of the f&c. I have plenty of time to bulk cook this weekend.

I have a few sets of spare towels. 1 set are old and used for drying the dog and the odd water spill etc. 1 set are ornamental, new, never been used but are still functional. 1 set are new Sheridan towels that may have come from a fancy hotel.
Which ones do I keep for emergencies and/or drying the dog and which ones do I donate?

I’ve taken the old work laptop home and I thought I’d try Bazzite on it. Apparently Fedora based distros don’t play well with Dell so if I still can’t get it to work I might try PopOS instead. Failing that, Mint Debian edition.
