Been at my new place of work for just over three months now and they have the new batch of people sitting with me, watching me work, and asking questions etc. also a manager (not my direct one, but same role) spoke to me yesterday about having my mind on my future with this company, as they need good people and are expanding in Melbourne. Feels quite good 😊

Well done hot stuff!!
bacon@aussie.zone 1 month ago
You certainly want a future at this company but like all good workers you would be extra motivated if they show their appreciation monetarily.

The humid-less breeze is beautiful. I’ve got the windows open to let it in the house.

I love that goblet wine glass.
I might have to go looking for one myself.

I do too. 🙂

Time for a few days of solitude down the beach. Only irl interaction will be 'ellos to randos on the beach and their dogs (and the local IGA for goon, love those peeps). Cannot wait.
Absolute zero risk of anyone popping ‘round.
Just redid the ol’ girls drug / drop schedule - calendar after today’s appt… Still full on but seems to be working well so far and logical. Keeps changing after every appointment as there are a few docs involved. They can’t communicate for shit. Crossing off shit that another has prescribed. I’m in a very privileged position to know very deeply, that kindergarten kiddos with a few cans and some string could do better here with respect to communication it’s like herding fukn cats.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 month ago
That’d be nice, not having to speak to anyone or anything.
bacon@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Would you like to discuss your boat’s extended warranty?
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 month ago
You know that feeling when you’re too hot and tired to feel hungry but you know you’ll regret it in bed if you don’t eat anything… yeah that’s me right now.
I’ve worked 23 hours over yesterday and today. That’s ridiculous. I really hope I sleep in on Wed morning. Maybe make myself an omelette for breakfast. It’s a bit silly now how much I’m avoiding cooking in this kitchen. Right now all I need to do is soak some rice noodles in hot water, drain and rinse, and stir through premade vegan larb. C’mon, I can do this. It’s not even cooking.

Right, so Nellie is up for renewal. Ought be one more email. Shall I or does anotherbody want this year? numbat
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Nellie is special. Would you like a contribution to the cost?
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I’m happy to cover the basic. It’s possible to bump it significantly, but one of us would get the physical stuff and I don’t think anyone except @Nath is located in a useful spot for the tickets.
Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 1 month ago
DAISO…
I don’t understand. You sell all these binders, but no inserts?
What is this?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 month ago
It’s one of life’s little mysteries I suppose. Like Why are the younger generation scared of ads? and Why does my spring onion have snot in it?. Some things can’t be explained.
Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 1 month ago
😂
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 month ago
minimaru sells them
Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I’m in the CBD. Was hoping to find something cheap to store my postcards.
It’s the inserts that DAISO don’t seem to have. Ugh. Annoying.

anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Sorry you’re feeling like that. Can you watch a sad movie and get it out of your system?
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I’m sorry you’re feeling like this today. We all have our ups and downs.
It’s ok to let it out even if we don’t know sometimes why we might be feeling that way.

Bit of a rant coming up.
Went to my GP to get a referral for a minor procedure. Referral was sent to the surgery clinic (Western Health), I was told it takes about 5-7 days for the surgery to send a confirmation text and set up an appointment. It’s not urgent but needs to be done.
After about 2 weeks, hear nothing, call the surgery clinic, turns out they didn’t receive the referral. As GP to send another one, and now have to wait another 5-7 days to actually find out it was received.
So either the referral wasn’t faxed the first time OR it was misplaced at the receiving end.
I’m not really interested in investigating any further (like asking for sent receipts from my GP), but it’s pretty frustrating.
Private is not an option due to lack of insurance and costs unfortunately.
dumblederp@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Monash Health never responded to my referal for surgery. It wasn’t until bitcoin went up and I decided to pay for it privately and they realised I’d been ignored for 2.5 years did they jump to action. My advice now is don’t trust referrals, pester them all the way through, they cannot be trusted. Anyone waiting on surgery/referral for over three months, go back to the gp and complain about symptoms, shit even try a new gp.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Solid advice. I know I’m in the ‘queue’ now but will keep following up with the surgical team.
If I get nothing in a week, I’m going back to my GP with ‘worse symptoms’.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 month ago
turns out they didn’t receive the referral
Yup, their communication leaves a lot to be desired.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I’m kind of disappointed that my GP doesn’t have a follow up system themselves to ensure things are received.
Seems to be sorted now, but very frustrating.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 month ago
whole thing feels so 80’s its nuts. Meanwhile they charge more and more for this shit experience.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Yeah. I get human error. Happens and I get faxes are more secure than emails and such. But I’d be happy to wave my privacy rights for this occasion to ensure that the damn thing was actually sent and received.
Just got a message from the surgery clinic that this referral came through and I’ll hear from them shortly to book a consult and such.
Then the girl I spoke to earlier (and yesterday) rang me to ensure I got the message. I got her name and will email the clinic with glowing praise for her.

My car insurance renewal came in with an increase of over 25% so I’m getting to spend the morning getting quotes for alternatives.
Youi just crossed themselves off my list with a bait and switch process - the online form says they will email you a quote, then asks for a phone number just to send you a PIN. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, gave the number and it goes straight to them phoning me instead. Lying to me to get personal details is not something that makes me want to deal with a company.
Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I’ve seen Suncorp offering better deals on cars than RACV recently.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 month ago
RACV got their asses kicked by AAMI for us this year. to be fair, AAMI also crushed Budget Direct. The real irony being a MY23 ~$45k SUV was substantially cheaper than the MY~10 $8k Hatchback.
I mean, I know the safety tech and all that, and the hatch is a known p plater car. But seriously. You guys are gonna screw me on a market value of it anyway, meanwhile you’d be stuck buying me a brand new SUV if i managed to write it off.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 month ago
They are currently the winner - I can get comprehensive insurance through them cheaper than the RACV third party. Weirdly RACV are quoting me a lower price for third party fire and theft than just straight third party property which covers less!
dumblederp@aussie.zone 1 month ago
AAMI was the cheapest for me. I just want enough insurance to not ruin my life if I tap a $150k car. I’ve got front/rear dash cams too.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I just did AAMI quotes, and they are now winning as well. Weirdly I think it will be better to go with comprehensive than third party only with them too.

The dishes are rotting in the sink and I’ve spent all day in bed. Feeling like shit in a way I can’t seem to climb out of.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Made it down the bellarine.
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been down here and my heart sank when I saw all the weeding / mowing I have to do over the next few. This was never going to be an actual break. On the plus the chillies have enjoyed themselves with this weather so that’s something.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Are you doing any tomatoes this season? Heard from my colleagues that theirs have exploded in size with the recent weather
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Have 5 plants in and they seem pretty happy! Haven’t had much luck in the last few years with tomatoes so not going to jinx it :)
Baku@aussie.zone 1 month ago
They still haven’t taken my parcels (now 3!) to the post office yet. Not quite sure what they’re doing with them. After sending them to Truganina for the night, they sent them through the airport this morning, then at 3pm they were marked as “in transit” at my suburb (which doesn’t have a post office, the local post office is in the suburb over). I think they may be holding them hostage
I just want my ABBA vinyl 😭😭

It’s too hot. I want a glass of wine but have “bills” to pay instead
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 month ago
I have successfully re-hung the mozzie net over the bed. It fell down late last summer when the sticky ‘removable’ hook peeled off and I never bothered to re-do it. But it’s done now albeit a few days too late. One of the major delay points is that it is very very difficult to buy just one cuphook. Packets of 25 or so, no problem, but just one? Impossible. Especially in Richmond or in the CBD. Not even Kmart sells them. So I’ve improvised with a long screw and a small butterfly nut filched from work put together arse end first. Might even be better than a cuphook as less subject to the mozzie net hanging ring sliding off in the breezes.
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Entire balcony scrubbed and tidied. Outside table wiped down.
Too hot to do the bathroom right now though; the lightbulb blew, and the only ones left are the heat lamp ones. So fuck that!
I’ll leave it for my partner to do when they wake up lol

warm day, hot to do housework but it must be done

And for the second time in two weeks I’ve had “your interview was fantastic, we really loved you, but we’ve gone with an internal candidate this time.” Arghhhh

Bikini, soap and bucket. Are you gonna wash my car Seagoon? Yeehaa
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 month ago
Uh oh, I continued working after coming home from a 9h day in the office and only just finished at 12:20 for like a 14h day… this is the danger of having a nice cozy wfh setup. And stimulants after a 2 day break. Too easy to lose boundaries :')
At least the overdue stuff is all done, but I’ve got three more things to start and finish by the end of tomorrow so they don’t get overdue. Stupid pre-xmas rush and poorly timed leave. So glad for the flexible hours.
Also some slightly disgruntled feelings over finding out a hack who left my former workplace basically straight-up copied some of the work I did there… not cool, not cool at all. Basically slapped a new logo on top…

I had a nap and I had a dream. Some older lady attached herself to my husband and kept referring to him as her “jungle boy”. I am so confused right now.
