Bought a lil indie game called Tiny Glade. Super fucking chill, no management, no quests, no objectives. Just some basic tools, cute, tilt-shifted graphics, and you build a tiny lil town. It’s adorable and so so relaxing. I was worried for a moment about it being perhaps too barebones, but I’ve built a main street, a lil castle, raised some land and made a flower hill with a lake, and made a silo. There’s a lot they could add, but it’s a bit procedural in a way (increasing/decreasing the size and shape of a building causes it to generate to make sense). Coloured everything I could colour. I have so much more to build for my little hamlet
Duenan@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Also have a look at Townscaper. That might be too basic maybe.
I have islanders but that’s got a little bit of a twist with laying out stuff and makes you think.
StudChud@aussie.zone 5 months ago
I’ll check those out, I really enjoy city Sims, just the building aspect really. I like the creation.
Duenan@aussie.zone 5 months ago
That’s so nice to be able to chill with something like that.
How much time have you lost to it already?
StudChud@aussie.zone 5 months ago
An hour or so, I’m tired but now all I can think about is making more things haha

I can’t believe people are still bothered by daylight savings. I get it if you have kids. That’s a different kettle of fish but gee if you’re a grow arse adult I can think of a million and one other things to be shitty about.
StudChud@aussie.zone 5 months ago
But the curtains! Won’t somebody think of the curtains!? /s
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Fuck the curtains. We need as much sunlight as possible while awake.
Nath@aussie.zone 5 months ago
WA had a three year trial from 2007-2009. It was fine, but they had a referendum and voted against adopting it. But everyone spent three years talking about it.
I moved to Melbourne in 2008. Melbourne didn’t talk about Daylight Savings by comparison, nobody seemed to mention it at all. You just adjusted your clocks and went about your day. It was refreshing. By about 2012, most of the clocks would adjust themselves.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Most Melburnians just get on with it but there were a few complaints on the lesser dt a few days ago. I hate wowsers.

Forced downtime so trying to take advantage and somewhat death clean myself.
Stuff = 1, Moi = 0
Why are there just some things that are inconvenient to store nicely. Yes, I have a gazillion ring-bound manuals. No, I haven’t opened them in forever. Yes, I need them.
Ugh. Cupboards are both the best and worst.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 months ago
I have this same problem, but with cables. I’m talking, boxes and boxes full.
I know if i throw any away I’ll need them in the future.
Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Haha, I hear you. That’s what I recently mentioned as my two week rule. I finally part with something and two weeks later… Yep, found a use for it, but don’t have it anymore.

I wish! Been every other year, but couldn’t afford it this time :(
Are you more interested in the video games? Or the board games? Dice?
I always loved the miniature painting and the team games with the motion controllers they do. And trying out all the board games and card games they have. I also like going to the talks they do, some are so so interesting. And then all the cosplay, people put so much effort, time and love into making amazing displays, and I am just in awe everytime I see them.
Duenan@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Not this year.
I went once in the ages ago and had a good time, went to a few talks like for The Witcher 3, struggling to remember what else since it was from awhile ago.

Had a convo with a couple of colleagues the other day about dark mode. They dont understand how I can work with it. I dont understand how you can use all white in office or outlook and that NOT hurt your eyes? so DT, what do you use? I’m dark mode all the way. Windows, Office apps, even my phone.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Dark mode all the way. Your colleagues are weird.
StudChud@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Dark more, no argument. The only correct answer is dark mode. It’s easier to see, write, and read, and doesn’t give me a headache.
Normal/light mode, I can literally feel my eyes strain and ache, my retina blasted away by the searing white light.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Yep, dark mode whenever possible. I’ve got some beefy 4k monitors so they put out some light when the screen is all white
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Oh that could be it! I’ve got a 32" curved monitor thats probably why it hurts hey.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Light mode just because it’s the default and I’ve always been lazy to bother changing and and adjusting to new thing
bacon@aussie.zone 5 months ago
you can guarantee your phone is safe no one’s gonna even look at it
StudChud@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Duenan@aussie.zone 5 months ago
I’m a full dark mode person.
I hate white lighting but looking at screens with so much white hurts and makes my eyes tired.
Even my watches are all dark or with negative lighting.
dumblederp@aussie.zone 5 months ago
tone212_@aussie.zone 5 months ago
I’m the freak that uses light mode. But after all these comments, I’m going to give dark mode another go. I’ve never had it on for more than 5 minutes once to decide I didn’t like it.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Dark mode and night mode. So much better for my eyes.
Nath@aussie.zone 5 months ago
I’m logging into and out of too many systems/servers etc in a day to tweak everything everywhere to Dark Mode. Ask me if I prefer it, then yes. Am I going to modify this remote server’s settings to Dark Mode (assuming the OS even supports it)? meh.
I am comfortable either way. I will say that my personal computer is configured for Dark Mode, if that somehow answers the question. Oh, my Kindle app on phone/tablet is absolutely set to Dark Mode. That’s probably the one case where I would mind. I wouldn’t want to read a book for several hours without dark mode.

Have made a Dr appointment for tomorrow. I’ve got these weird things which came up on my arms in a few spots in the past couple of weeks. Thought they were ringworm or similar fungal thing, was treating them with OTC topical cream. Was wondering how TF I got it. But the cream didn’t work and they’ve flared up hugely as a result of my treatment 😳☹️ The same thing happened with my feet a couple of years ago; I thought it was tinea, treated it accordingly and the whole situation got instantly massively worse and it turned out to be eczema.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Might be stress-related psoriasis. I have that in my hairline and the outside of my elbows, and its a pain to deal with. Cortisone cream works quite well. If the things are scaly patches that flake off leaving a red sore mark. Might be worth raising this with the dr.
StudChud@aussie.zone 5 months ago
I have psoriasis, behind my ears. It rarely comes up on my face but doesn’t stick around. I’ve tried so much to treat it, and I really think it’s stress/mental health. So annoying. Been there since I was a kid, but usually migrates every few years slightly.
I have a new cream to try though, so we’ll see how that plays out.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Thankyou I will.
Taleya@aussie.zone 5 months ago
His lordship’s had a massive eczema flare as well and he’s usually not prone. Must be something in the air
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Ikr I’ve never had eczema until the foot thing, and then not at all since.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 months ago
I come out in hives that could be anything from stress to chemical sensitivity to a virus or mast cells.
Be careful if you try cortisone cream - maybe patch test it first before slathering it all over. As I find it just causes redness and stinging for me
bacon@aussie.zone 5 months ago
got my first round of eczema earlier this year (which i ignored and used the wrong stuff on until i finally saw a GP a few months later for something else), a ridiculous amount of moisturiser every few hours and a little cortisone did the trick
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Tinea cream can make eczema worse and vice versa, and the skin breakdown from eczema can mean fungal infections take hold more easily, too. My dr suggested mixing a little of both treatment creams together, if either single treatment wasn’t working.
It might be contact dermatitis or something like that - have you been using any new products lately?

No presents, sunshine or shopping today?
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 months ago
TGIF. Not much to do today except make some tutorials out of some meetings I had last week.
Then dinner with a friend, getting some new glasses (finally) and maybe an amp to make my current setup stereo instead of just mono.
Enjoy your day everyone ❤️

Aussie women’s T20 on tonight at 1am against Pakistan.
I’m going to try and stay up for it again.
I think it’s available on Amazon Prime if you have a sub with them.

Well plans changed with my having to help family with their stuff and also with me making a stuff up so I ended up not having much to spend on myself in the end.
I’ve limited myself to a coffee so far.
The cafe I’m sitting at wanted 15 dollars for a chicken schnitzel roll with a layer of lettuce, 3 slices of tomato and it didn’t look too big.
Maybe I’m just being too critical.

I really struggled with the playlist today so I’ve started with an hour of oldies then we’ll play the rest on the fly. It always starts nice and demure with something like Dion and ends in something like Disturbed with flashing lights, more shots and heavy bass.

For the metal heads in here, a new Blood Incantation album just dropped. It incorporates their prog elements with their metal side of things really well. First impressions are I really like it and it just might be my album of the year.
