Sweet, free van!!!
But in all seriousness, hope youâre feeling better soon! Chef must rest!
bacon@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
mortals are not capable of wielding the van
Thank you!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Chef, would you like a hot honey lemon drink with maybe some brandy and some raison toast?
bacon@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Oh yes thank you

Poor chef! Itâs important to look after yourself after tirelessly looking after others.

The man and I have decided to go see Deadpool & Wolverine tomorrow.
17 year old me would be happy in the back row. 27 year old me wouldâve fallen asleep. 47 year old me just wants to get my monies worth.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
yeah this is why I go gold class for this sort of thing. Had Infinity war ruined by kids screaming and carrying on so now if its worth going to the cinemas (and to be clear not much is) I go gold class.
Ntcc661@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I made a snap decision to go see it today. My session starts at 12:30.
As a 49yo who has been comic book reader/collector since i was 16 I want fun, fan service & clear dialogue (I think my hearing is going).
Have fun tomorrow.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâm watching Fantasmas and this is the most bonkers thing Iâve watched all year.
rambling
Despite wanting to have nothing to do with the modern world at times this feels like the most cathartic TV series ever. Like someone compressed all my millennial stray thoughts and anxieties and imagination and feelings into an insane fever dream of interwoven comedy sketches. There is really nothing like this out there at the moment. Itâs the writer of SNLâs most famous sketches like Papyrus and Wells for Boys doing an entire season of wack which is like a dream come true (okay, I see heâs done another TV show that I have to track down). Iâm glad TV like this gets made; and Iâm glad it isnât as insular and navel-gazing and obnoxiously value-signalling as I feared it might be. Thereâs an endearing, lovable heart behind the turbocharged surreal/ironic humour.
Worth a watch if you feel like itâs time for something completely different⊠and want to process life a little differently.
PS Bibo is my favourite character. angrysound.mp3
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Cool. This is definitely on my watch list. đđ
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I have a feeling you might hate it hahaha. But itâs a fairly quick and breezy watch
Taleya@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
so far today Iâve done all the washing, designed and printed IMMENSELY satisfying just right fitting compartment boxes for my toolbox for bits and bobs, run the first lot of distillate and done a 10 walk. Very niiiice

Spring has truly sprung when my elderly neighbour is out watering his lawn daily again.
wscholermann@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Rest assured Melbourne weather will whiplash and smack you with a cold freezing change. Shit Melbourne weather can often go right on till December.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Once spring hits, heâll water his lawn while itâs raining. Nothing can stop him.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Mineâs still soaked. How the F can it need watering?!
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
It doesnât need watering. He just waters it.
Baku@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
After my little mini rage on Monday, they pushed child protection along and got the security upgrades happening. The 4 things they promised were:
- a gate on the driveway (which is currently the only unprotected entrance)
- security cameras around the property
- proper locks on the side gates (currently 2/3 gates are just a simple latch with a padlock hole Iâve put an unsanctioned padlock in)
- a deadbolt on the front door
- replacement door frames to fix all the damage old mate inflicted with his little knife episode
Apparently all except the deadbolt have been approved (theyâre still trying to come up with a solution that doesnât violate the fire code thingies, although I guess technically the screen door is a deadbolt, since it canât be opened by sliding a knife into the lock and prying, which is all I really wanted. A dude came out today to measure the door frames, apparently theyâre going to replace all the doors as well. Interestingly theyâve actually used a local tradie instead of the idiots from mcpeake.
Mcpeake are the previously unnamed idiots that do stupid work that I mention almost weekly. As I understand it, they have the contracts for fixing, upgrading, and maintaining all public housing and out of home care properties in Melbourne. They seem to take it for granted, or the department is locked into a long contract. they donât provide timeframes, they usually rock up unannounced (a problem because Iâm not allowed to let them in, or approve/sign off on any work, thatâs all the property managers job), at least outside of emergency works. They also do shoddy work, are staffed exclusively by arseholes (their google reviews are hilarious btw), and usually donât even finish the job right.
But it seems that people above the property manager have been stressing the importance of getting things done in a timely fashion, and they ended up finding local tradies to do most of the work.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Oh good! You shouldnât have had to rage to get repairs and safety features⊠hoping things look up for you soon
Baku@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Me too. Last night and the night before were difficult sleeps. I slipped into some sort of weird state where I was asleep but it was more like I was just resting with my eyes closed, very shallow âsleepâ. Melatonin did not help, and neither did trying to get some exercise and sunlight in yesterday
StudChud@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
So I got sent a link to view the ct scans of my face, from the radiology department.
I have never seen the inside of my face before, itâs super wild! I can scroll up and down through the âslidesâ and like, move back and forth and up and down these scans of my head.
I feel a tad ick, all the nerves in my face are tingling now that Iâm aware đ but itâs also really cool!
It also confirms what I have long suspected, that my skull is quite empty and cavernous.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Yeah nup, dont like to be reminded Iâm made of flesh and calcium.
StudChud@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
It is extremely unsettling, because we shouldnât normally have that view. But from a science lover perspective, itâs really cool!!
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Almost nearing the end of this retaining wall. my new best friend is a cheapo ozito corded drill. Had to get some screws through pretty thick metal fence posts which the way more expensive cordless one couldnât and it worked. So satisfying seeing the sleepers snap in flush when the screw goes through the post.
Canât believe I havenât fucked it up yet or injured myself (not including back) which is amazing.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
How goods some of those cheap shit ozito tool ey. The heat fun and the multitool especially get a shout out.

My late afternoon tea might have actually been dinner. Lemon meringue tart, delish.
Iâll have some veggies tomorrow I promise.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I need lemon meringue pie now.

underwatermagpies@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Yes you do. It was great.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
every time I think of these pies now, lemon, lime or peach, I think of that pie shop in Shape of Water. And Iâve had those American style pies. Weird.
( unlike real pies made with real ingredients , like fruit and sweet ricotta, real cream and home made sweet pastry )
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Lemons, sugar cane, wheat, all veggies ⊠and eggs & butter for protein. Youâre golden.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Hayfever or some kind of communal disease? Hmm I guess Iâll find out tomorrow.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâve been getting an itchy nose and Melbcat has been sneezing and heavy breathing. (We might start up again on her puffer.)
I think hayfever is hitting already :/
SituationCake@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I suspect my doctors has now got an automatic pre-recorded message you have to listen to before reception pick up the call. They always used to answer pretty quickly, but in the last year literally never pick up. Automated âWelcome to blah blah. If itâs an emergency hang up call 000. You can now make appointments online at blah blah blah details, opening hours, useless infoâ etc and it goes for a full several minutes before someone picks up. I think they are trying to minimise answering calls. Look I know how to use the online bookings, if Iâm calling itâs because I have a question. Annoying.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâd say my days gone to shit, but lets be honest it started there so performance has been consistent. Does anyone know where i can buy a mars bar slice in the CBD? Feeling like that might be the start of turning things around.
danwritesbooks@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Hopefully you find that mars bar slice and your day turns for the deliciously better.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Thanks. Sadly no because Melbourne is a city that lacks true culture. So i settled for a couple of cookies and an orange juice.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
need to find a diplomatic way of saying âIf you hadâve actioned this when I called it out +12 months ago you wouldnât be in this mess in the first place. This isnât my job and you cant keep asking me to do shit cause yaâll cant be fucked doing the work yourselves or even trying to figure it outâ. Didnt even make it to 10am before I gave up today.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
âIt is my recollection that the last action on this item was sitting with youâŠâ and of course attach the pertinent emails/documents.
Baku@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
âas per last yearâs emailâ
Tbh Iâd unironically do it đ€·ââïž
wscholermann@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Hey Melbourne Metro if you could turn the heat down on the trains that would be super, because I didnât feel like sitting on the surface of the sun today.

H-O-T T-O G-O Flinderâs full of P-S-Os!
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
A friend brought me some xs menâs trackies. They are a bit big but they fit more reasonably than the womenâs /shrug
Melbcat has been refusing her wet food for a few days (still eating treats and biccies). Iâm going to have to give her meds directly and then feed the wet food separately. Also a bit worried about her breathing and might have to return to the twice daily puffer.
It feels way too early for hayfever to set in but seems it has
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâm not overly fond of the colours womenâs trackies come out in, they tend to be weird seasonally trendy colours which I donât like, whereas in the menâs section itâs all black, grey, navy, khaki. Much more practical.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Yeah, I prefer the more classic colours
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
In an effort to lift my mood Iâm looking at visiting my aunty in WA over the AFL PH given that she has her birthday that week too. Flights are never cheap, but theyâre less gross than usual atm⊠I havenât seen her in quite a while and Iâve got just enough leave to make it work. Could do with a bit of mutual TLC.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâm so annoyed at myself. Was supposed to do a fasting blood test this morning but I stupidly didnât put a reminder to not eat on my phone⊠And I rarely eat breakfast, but Iâm WFH today and well, wouldnât today just be the day I go âoh! Leftover pasta, Iâd better eat thatâ and I remember the blood test RIGHT as I finish eating⊠fuck. now I have to wrangle getting tested at 8 before heading back to work.
Also very annoyed at uni who in their infinite wisdom have centralised all standard extension requests (NOT special consideration), and noooo a drs. cert isnât enough, they need to file a fucking special form outlining exactly how the illness hampered your ability to study. Itâs enough for my workplace that actually pays me money but itâs not enough for a course that Iâm paying to do?? Fuck these guys man, I will be glad to never deal with them again once Iâm done with this course
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Melbourne Pathology has âsupercentresâ that are open from 7.30 am. I use the Northcote Plaza one, but there may be one closer to you.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Do they bulk bill if the referral document has another pathology providerâs form thingo? I once went to a different pathology chain than the one on my referral and got stung with out of pocket fees⊠Iâll call and ask maybe. Thanks for the heads up.
Baku@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I had to take one of those once. I ended up fasting for too long. I thought I wasnât meant to eat 12 hours prior, so ate 13 hours before the test, but apparently it was actually8 hours prior, but not over 12
danwritesbooks@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Was the leftovers good at least?
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I think it was a bit off as I had a bad bout of the runs after (though I think it was partly in response to the coffee I then had). So none of it was worth it :(
Catfish@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Faark! Elec bill just under $800.
Not buying cheese this week.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
And I was shocked at a $90 bill for the last month⊠But like you, usage consistent with previous years, just that costs have shot up.
Far out Iâd die from a heart attack with that kind of bill.
wscholermann@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I donât understand how your bill can be so high?
How big is your house and how many people in it? What kind of appliances do you?
Catfish@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Uninsulated 2bed, 2 people. Landlord specials.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Holy shit! Thats more than double mine and we ran the heater almost every day with basically 0 solar input.
Worth having a look at whats using all your juice. And that your power company is not sticking it to you. Ovo was cheapest last time I looked.
Catfish@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Itâs the old as shit radiator. Consistent usage with last year, but price increase. One of the reasons for needing to move.
Taleya@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
yeah ours is looking that way. I regret jack and shit, weâve had the house to 20c all winter. I got fucking chillblains every year in teh old place, fuck. that. noise.
Catfish@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ha! Even with both heaters I could usually only get a section to 13 and fuck the rest. This house truely sucks.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Alarm went off during a nightmare, one where you knew something terrible was going to happen but it hadnât yet dropped yet. Certainly puts a downer on the day.
Baku@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I had absolutely wild dreams. First part of my dreams consisted of evacuating a high rise when the fire alarms went off, but I said âyeah nah fuck off Iâm 47 stories upâ and took the lift. Second dream consisted of being in Frankston for some reason, and there were SES people putting out a fire and removing a downed tree from the road. But they found illegal fireworks, and they took them home and set them off that night. But they screwed it up and blew up the entirety of Frankston. Third dream consisted of random bugs killing each other, it was really weird and uncomfortable, but not a nightmare
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Mine was about a fire too I think, or something was going to explode. And you knew everyone was gonna die but its like it was stuck on rails and you couldnt change the outcome. Deeply disturbing.
bacon@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
i love orange juice
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Went to Soi 38 for the first time after work. Itâs a Thai restaurant in a parking garage thatâs been around for ever and is super popular. I feel like I got punched in the face with flavour ⊠so sour, salty and spicy. So delicious.
Baku@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ooh, today is new bank card day. They sent it with priority, so thatâs nice.
Whatâs not nice is this new design. Previously I had a nice white one, with tasteful colour splashed around, and the numbers and my name hard pressed into it, but theyâve changed to an obnoxious yellow front, with nothing on it except a chip and a logo, then the back has all of my info on it. And itâs not pressed into the card anymore, itâs just written on, like a Myki card :(
danwritesbooks@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Urgh, what happened to the nice weather these past two days?
In between reading adult books, I tend to read some Goosebumps or Fear Street as a palate cleanser and also remind me of my childhood and also get me in the mood writing that kind of horror for kids.
Currently reading one of the Fear Street books and the main character wakes up thinking someone is trying to break in because of the news saying thereâs a prowler breaking into houses. She screams, her parents come in, turns out itâs the classic tree branch tapping on the window. So then the Dad takes her into their bedroom, opens the bedside table and shows her the gun he has to protect them from any intruders and how âitâs always loadedâ and âright hereâ and I know itâs blatantly Chekhovâs Gun but as I read it, I couldnât help but laugh and think âthis is so America.â

I need to give my manager a daily summary of the things Iâve worked on everyday. Things are a little light on today so this time will be an exercise in creative writing
oztrin@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Had a new client assigned yesterday and one shift proved it wasnât going to fly.
The co-ordinator was so quick to agree that I shouldnât go again (and wanting to know what happened in detail) that I suspect this isnât their first rodeo with her.
As I said to a friend, Iâm too old and not getting paid enough to deal with that BS.danwritesbooks@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
How does this sound for the title of a cricket themed/haunted mansion story: Caught and Ghouled (a play on caught and bowled).
Otherwise Iâm stuck with the temporary title of âThe Haunted Mansionâ which is overplayed.
Baku@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Lol, the ABCâs doing 1am Wednesday quizzes now.
Are you smarter than a year 9 student?
9/10, I got the 24hr one wrong. But in my defence, itâs 2am and Iâm in bed about to do sleepy-doos. Apparently Iâm in the top 36% of quizzers, which I guess says a lot about the average person taking a random quiz at 1am on Wednesday morning. Also, seeing as I barely passed year 9 and didnât take the NAPLAN, I count that as an absolute win. Go me.

Temu order update: Package arrived. Shoes were ungrated. However the grater was not great. It was very flimsy, bent out of shape and has been refunded.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Test is negative! đȘ©đđŒ And I can taste more things! I didnât realise until I bought some mixed donuts for the Minipeelers and Elder asked what the yellow ones were and I took a bite and said, âpineappleâ lol. Spent most of the day cleaning in the lounge room, which hasnât had a decent clean in a while. Four long haired people in a place really take itâs toll in terms of fluffage in the carpet and upholstery. Now Iâm going to make some schnitzels and maybe a quick curry. Iâm back baby đđŒđđđŒ
