Vacuum cleaner has arrived as well I bought it for my kids to play with, aren’t they lucky I’d upgrade my whole phone just to get them a new toy?
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
In person went OK. We’ll see what happens.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 hours ago
Coming at you from the new vacuum cleaner phone
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 hours ago
I heard that phone really sucks.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 hours ago

The accessories you can get for it certainly do

In happier news, one of my neighbours has an assistance dog in training, and I’ve just witnessed him doing something very impressive.
Abraham (and the L-Plates On His Harness) is figuring out lift buttons. He can call the elevator

Very clever boy!
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 11 hours ago
Alrighty.
1 in person 3rd stage interview
2 first stage phone interviews.
Let’s see what happens.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
Good luck!
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 9 hours ago
What an awesome feeling that is!! I need to get mine done, they’re so close to blocking up. Good luck with the interviews!
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
Highly recommend doing it. It’s awesome!
And thanks! I’ve had one already which was OK. The in person is at 1pm then another call at 3pm.

There’s this American guy sitting in the co-working open plan area today (in a group of 4) and he is literally SHOUTING his conversation. Non-stop talking since I arrived. I will be getting no work done today. I think I’m going to move for the day instead of asking them to STFU, I don’t feel like a confrontation today.
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
Canuks tend to be less cunty like that, sounds American to me.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
True for the most part. There are assholes amongst us, but we tend to be quieter in public.
Yanks don’t have indoor voices.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 hours ago
Canadians are polite, they would never do that.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
I like my new car. It’s fun to drive, looks cute, sounds great.
STOP BEEPING AT ME.
I just wish that it would shut the fuck up. I don’t need to be told every time there’s a speed change. I don’t need to be beeped at every time I go 1km over the limit. Stop telling me there’s a line near me. Why do I care if my door is open for a moment while I check something and the engine is off. Thankfully most of it can be switched off pretty easily, but oh my god it’s so fucking annoying and has to be done every time I start the car. I want to drive a car, not have a car telling me how to drive.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
I really don’t like all of those automatic things. I like simple controls that I am in control of. It was one reason I resisted updating my car for so long, and only did when I realised I could get a van that didn’t have all those extras as standard. It’s not just the beeps and stuff either, too much in the way of sensors in everything make repairs a lot more expensive.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 hours ago
I too like simple and elegant
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 hours ago
The glass plate I made has just turned 7 (according to Facebook)
That was a very enjoyable afternoon class, and the plate is now my fruit bowl in the kitchen. It doesn’t feel like seven years ago. I spent a couple of months long service leave staying at home and doing lots of classes and activities locally, it was a lot of fun.

I love the colours and style!
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
That’s so pretty!! That sounds like a great way to use lsl. I want to try one of those painting or pour sessions.

Someone has stolen my doormat.
…I have questions
SituationCake@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
People are weird.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
Some people will steal anything that’s not bolted down (and sometimes they’ll steal that too, along with the bolts).
I find it easier to deal with such despicable acts if I anthropomiphise to a ridiculous degree - your doormat has just reached an age where it wants more independence and has set off to travel the world. It’s out there somewhere living it’s best life, getting to experience other doorsteps and being stepped on by a wide array of interesting people.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
I wonder what it could possibly be used for?
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
It’s,a good doormat and all, but like…it’s a doormat. A used, generic doormat
Eagle@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
Your building is…interesting.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
Oh yes
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
My mate has a watermelon doormat which has since turned into a Free Palestine symbol.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 9 hours ago
Was it a nice doormat?
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
Not particularly. Generic, used doormat
Catfish@aussie.zone 8 hours ago

Hey now. We are also highly inefficient.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 hours ago
think I’ll go into the city and get some walking exercise and do a few errands
I don’t deny the news lately, life lately, has been tough, and it’s hard to get motivated
SituationCake@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
Incidental exercise is great, walking around the shops all adds up! But I hear you on the motivation. It’s an ongoing struggle for me, and external events don’t help. I’m envious of people who are always full of drive and energy. For me it’s having to push myself through the day, every day. I don’t have any solutions.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 11 hours ago
By the time I fall asleep, it’s probably 1am. When I wake up, it’s 7am. Make it stop :( I just wish my body would get tired earlier
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 10 hours ago
Meanwhile I crashed at 8:30 so hard I woke up at 11pm thinking it was morning and struggled to get back to sleep!
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 10 hours ago
I have the other side of things where I fall asleep at 9pm and wake at 3am. I think we’re both looking for that elusive 11pm to 6am golden window.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 10 hours ago
I’m struggling with a 6-630 wake up cause mornings are dark again.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 9 hours ago
More like 10-7 for me but even 11-6 would be better than 1-7
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
I used to have sleep patterns like that. I found when there wasn’t anything forcing me to be up at any particular time I’d keep about a 26-28 hour day, going to bed and getting up a couple of hours later each day. The rotational shift work I’m doing worked fairly well with that, doing two 12 hour day shifts followed by two 12 hour night shifts, then four days off to reset.
I found that the patterns changed as I got older though - I went through a period where I stopped being able to stay up overnight and changed to doing all day shifts, and have now moved back again to the rotating shifts which are working ok again, but I’m finding it harder to sleep during the day than I used to.
I always found the most important thing is to not stress about when I ‘should’ be sleeping, or how much sleep I should get. I also cycle through periods where I seem to need around 10 hours sleep a night and others where I only seem to need 5 or 6. I try to just let my body do what it wants as much as I can within the constraints of work etc. and not stress about it too much. If I start to think about it too much it just adds another thing to be circling my brain and stop me from getting to sleep.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 7 hours ago
Yeah I think not thinking about too much it is the way to go :)
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 11 hours ago
Didn’t see the moon last night. I think Gru and the minions stole it
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 17 hours ago
It wasn’t a good one yesterday.
spoiler
I reached out to the rescue contact and explained the trapping difficulties, said I could try and detain the cat in the house for a chip scan and maybe foster. But the pressure to keep him was intense and she even straight up said he would help me get over Melbcat. I was halfway through setting up a quarantine area but got overwhelmed at the situation and had a bit of a breakdown over it all. Then I missed him coming by because I was sleeping.
spoiler
I was dreaming of paying for more operations for a still living Melbcat, taking shady abusive jobs and pretending she was another cat for discounts to afford them. Yeah I’m really not mentally okay.
Then just now I tried to pile the neglected dishes into the mini dishwasher I never got around to selling. Who cares if they’re covered in soap after, I’m not very hungry. I just want them cleaned and put away.
But it threw a E4 error, drained, and now refuses to function. There was possibly an issue with the sensor leading to overfilling. I was hoping to either use that in emergencies or be able to sell it to recoup some money but it may be broken. Add repair or disposal to the to do list.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
I hope today is a better day. You’re allowed to be firm with the rescue person. They probably mean well and don’t know how stressful this is for you. ‘I can’t right now, and please don’t pressure me further’ is perfectly ok to say.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 13 hours ago
hugs
about the dishes, when miss seagoon stayed she wanted Fairy dishwashing tablets, said they worked better , and rinse aid
here’s the thing, I rinse all the gun off dishes before hand, she doesn’t
I have been using eco brands that have no perfumes
I was really put off by the strong perfumes in the main brands
so you are not alone in this and not OCD, it really is unacceptable how strongly perfumed every thing is
and black cat is ok, he is still figuring things out, Bill hid and wouldn’t let anyone touch him for six weeks. Now he’s devoted to everyone and we to him. Black cat will be ok. As will you. 😘
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 10 hours ago
Most of the time I’d rather smell the odour than the perfume.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 13 hours ago
The dishwasher threw an E4 error and won’t stop making a pumping noise even after off and on, probably overfilled due to a sensor error. Maybe flooded something internal. May not resolve and I don’t want to risk trying to repair it myself. I probably can’t sell it now and third party = warranty nightmare if it’s still valid.
I don’t know what to do with him. I’m busy cleaning but will print the posters and ask for help sticking them up. I may assemble the enclosure just to have an emergency spot ready if he gets injured or cannot stay out there, but I need to slow my roll and likely can’t keep him.

Yeah so unintended side effect of quitting vaping is I need to learn to control my singing voice again.
Frustrating.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 9 minutes ago
This is good tho , isnt it?
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 minutes ago
Long term absolutely.
But I have re adjust how I form notes in my throat. That’s the frustrating part.
Doing what I normally do is off pitch.
