My split AC unit cost me 1350€ with installation. 8k USD is ridiculous.
SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
It’s probably for an HVAC system that runs trough the entire building. Not just a unit that cools one room.
zqps@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
“starting at” and the thing in the front is a simple unit that shouldn’t cost you more than 2k.
UnrepententProcrastinator@lemmy.ca 2 weeks ago
Yeah mine was like 10k but it’s for central heating.
SirQuack@feddit.nl 2 weeks ago
My dual head split ac (is that correct? Two indoor units, one outdoor) was 2000 eur with installation.
That price is truly ridiculous, but maybe they’ll make a typo in the final invoice in your favour.
jordanlund@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
We bid ours out to four different vendors, lowest was $8K, highest was $13K.
Buffalox@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Australia?
24_at_the_withers@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Nope, USA. The third infuriating thing about this flier.
tiredofsametab@fedia.io 2 weeks ago
I think a/c is mostly (entirely?) a north-american naming convention. It's been "aircon" in the other places I've lived in traveled.
Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 2 weeks ago
I believe the polite way to ask this in their culture is, “Do you come from the land down under?”
meejle@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
My aren’t 😔
muhyb@programming.dev 2 weeks ago
Is you is or is you ain’t my baby?
NABDad@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Deleted my comment because I saw you beat me to it.
muhyb@programming.dev 2 weeks ago
That’s okay though. Sometimes I do the same and don’t even notice it already exists.
ThePrimitive@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
There is no magic quantity of layers obfuscation that will hide the fact that you simply can not resist your obligatory urge to post “This!”.
Kissaki@feddit.org 2 weeks ago
Yeah, sorry, we made a typo. It’s actually $17,999.00.
lunaluster@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
bigbabybilly@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Well, is it!?
MrQuallzin@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
That took me way too long to notice
ceenote@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I was like “Yeah, starting at $8k is pretty bullshit”
argh_another_username@lemmy.ca 2 weeks ago
Yep, I was like ‘so what?’ Ooohhhhhhh….
hperrin@lemmy.ca 2 weeks ago
Is I am ready for the season that’s almost over? No matter where you live, Summer is either almost over or over a season away.
EtnaAtsume@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
It’s even underlined 😭
cupcakezealot@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
i dont think that will fit in a pc case
naticus@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Not with that attitude
finitebanjo@piefed.world 2 weeks ago
Reminds me of the Tommy Lee Jones movie "Man of the House" (2005) where he installs a giant A/C to make the cheerleaders wear more clothes.
Capricorn_Geriatric@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Every now and then, I can’t help but wonder
Is me’s AC ready for Summer?
Shady_Shiroe@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Idk if I prefer spam emails or this, both are not environmentally friendly, maybe emails take less electricity, idk, but seeing mail ads feel less intrusive than most ad delivery methods used today.
ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 2 weeks ago
There’s probably a lot of wannabe crypto bros in your area
guynamedzero@piefed.zeromedia.vip 2 weeks ago
That’s just how you know it’s really trustworthy!
udon@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Hm, not su’re yet!
MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
So that’s what all that onlinetracking is for.
usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 2 weeks ago
Starting at 8 grand?? Seems pricey and I live in a place with expensive labour
bitchkat@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
It says equipment starts at $8k. No mention of labor.
usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 2 weeks ago
Which is even worse, as I’d expect it to be half that installed
b3an@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Upbubpbubpbup! $7,999 and only valid if you have this giant tacky coupon with you 🤣
toddestan@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Summer is ending up here in the Northern hemisphere, so I’m going with this being in New Zealand, so it’s about $4600 US.
deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 2 weeks ago
An ad in NZ would be in ºC that “75” looks suspiciously ºF.
We’d also more likely call it a “heat pump” rather than “A/C”.
Though $8000 does sound about right for South Pacifuc Pesos.
24_at_the_withers@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Nope, Nevada. One of the other mildly infuriating things about this flier.
drmoose@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Still crazy. Airconditioning is dirt cheap these days - a small bedroom aircon is like 300-400 usd these days.
ramble81@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
AC replacements typically run 15-20K for a decent system, install and all. At least last time I had to check.
Psythik@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Then I guess I’m never replacing mine. It’s not like HVAC technology has advanced much in the past 100 years, beyond the switch to R-134A from Freon. Most tech advancements are made on the thermostat-end. The system itself is ridiculously simple; usually just 3-4 wires (A/C on/off, Heat on/off, fan on/off, and sometimes a separate power wire).
Blaster_M@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
…and I’m not sure about getting an A/C from someone that can’t grammar, either
