- Comment on 4ish years ago when I bought a house I was convinced not to get a house inspection, would it be crazy to get one now just to make sure it's all good? 1 day ago:
We did an inspection before we bought.
They found a gas leak in the attic.
They also found that while radon mitigation equipment was installed, it was never connected to power.
The roof was 20 years old and only had a 20 year lifespan. No leaks… but… yeah.

When you report a comment it goes to the community moderators, the admins on that community, and if the user is from a different instance, the admins on their home instance.
I believe if you go to their account page and report them, it only goes to the admins of their home instance.

If your domain is your actual name, then it should be trivial to create an SMTP alias for mail@domain.com that is for yourname@domain.com.
Attach that to your email address and inbound email for either will get to you, but only your primary address will be used for outbound communication.
Another fun one…
Gmail ignores periods in addresses.
So firstnamelastname@gmail.com also gets email for:

Problem: It’s a different kind of plastic from the bottle and isn’t recyclable. So it’s going to need to be cut off the bottle anyway. :(

“the last affordable sedan in its U.S. model lineup”
AFFORDABLE sedan. So potential Malibu owners will likely move to one of the Crossover SUVs. Camaro base price is $32,495. The Equinox is only about $1,500 more than a Malibu. Trailblazer is actually $2,000 LESS. Trax is $5K less.
The Crossover SUV has been replacing sedans as the vehicle of choice for years now.

- Comment on Vin Diesel’s New ‘Riddick’ Movie Moving Forward for Fall Shoot 1 week ago:
First of all, let’s talk about the plot, or lack thereof, in the Riddick movies. It’s like they took a bunch of random sci-fi clichés, tossed them in a blender, and hit the “disaster” button.
That’s a common complaint among people who haven’t actually watched them. Look at Chronicles of Riddick for example… it’s LITERALLY Macbeth with Riddick in the role of Duncan. Of course to get that, you’d have to be familiar with Macbeth.
And let’s not forget about the acting, or should I say lack of acting. Vin Diesel’s impressive range of facial expressions consists of a permanent scowl and a look of constipation.
The first time I ever saw Diesel was in his short film “Multi-Facial”, his performance there is DEVASTATING. Clearly he CAN do more than what he’s given. Iron Giant was phenomenal. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Boiler Room but I haven’t seen it.
Multi-Facial can be seen on Youtube, worth a watch:

- Comment on Let π = 5 4 weeks ago:
Well, a r=10 and h=10 doesn’t mean much without units. 10 what? Feet? Meters? Inches? CM?
Let’s take the OG numbers and assume feet, so 5,000 cubic feet. That’s not a useful volume measurement.
1 cubic foot of water = 7.48052 gallons
So 5,000 cubic feet of water = 37,402.6 gallons. That’s a viable volume measurement.
1 cubic meter = 1,000 liters.
5,000 cubic meters = 5,000,000 liters.
- Comment on Let π = 5 4 weeks ago:
Well, with those numbers, it’s easy math. :)
V=510^210
5,000. 5,000 what though?

- Comment on The Sega Dreamcast 4 weeks ago:
People tend to lump in the Sega CD with the failed systems, but it was actually the most successful console add on ever, supporting over 200 games.
This was part of the problem with the 32X. Sega USA ran with the CD and turned it into a success when Sega Japan didn’t want it. When Japan was prepping for Saturn, US demanded the 32X and when Japan said “no”, US said “yeah, well, look at Sega CD, what do you know?” Sega USA arrogance willed the 32X into existance and, well, you know the rest.
Guitar Hero sold more, but how many games USE the guitar? 4? 5?
- Comment on The Sega Dreamcast 4 weeks ago:
The 32X was a disaster and it was bred from a conflict between Sega USA and Sega Japan.
In the US, the Sega CD had been a HIT. Japan wanted to drop it, US said “we’ll take it!” and it ended up being the #1 peripheral with more games for it than any other console add on ever. Over 200 games.
So when Sega Japan wanted to get the Saturn rolling, Sega US demanded a stop gap between the Genesis and Saturn. Japan resisted, and US went “Yeah, well look at Sega CD, what do you know?” and went with the 32X.
From the start, Japan wasn’t interested, did everything to ignore the product and effectively killed it.
In retaliation, US chose to launch Saturn several months too early. I think they knew going head to head with the Playstation was a death sentence, so they dropped it 5 months early to “select retailers”.
This had 2 problems:
- The games were janky and not ready. The first version of Virtua Fighter was so bad they had to later issue a re-mix version for free.
- The “non-select” retailers were pissed to be cut out of the early launch. So when the wide release happened in the fall, they leaned in more to support the Playstation than the Saturn.
- Comment on The Sega Dreamcast 4 weeks ago:
Sega was a victim of the Dreamcasts success. They lost money on every console sold, didn’t make it back on the software, and spent too much money on things like Shen Mue.
