Saturday before Easter… 17 or 18 year old kid was going on and on about how he couldn’t wait to get home so he could play Call of Duty all night, and this and that… lots of swearing, lots of talk about shooting and destruction.
Me: “I dunno man, don’t you have to be in bed early so the Easter Bunny will come?”

For point 1, this sounds like a class action waiting to happen.
You buy a Nintendo console, Nintendo says you broke the rules and bans that console, now non-Nintendo games won’t work on it because it’s banned from reaching online services.

“2124-4508”
I’m going to spoiler tag all the Nintendo legal-ese because it’s A LOT.
It boils down to this console us banned from logging in online. So a couple of questions:
-
Do you HAVE to be online to play Switch 2 games?
-
If the ban is correct for user violations, why ban the hardware? Why not ban the account?

- Comment on Microsoft's real problem was never PlayStation 1 week ago:
I kinda had the opposite experience, I had been a PC gamer for years before the Xbox came out, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Aliens Total Conversion, Hexen, Rise of the Triad, Quake, Unreal…
By then I had kind of burned out on FPS, so when I heard about Halo I was like “I dunno… another FPS…”
Then I played a demo in the store and was like “Shut up and take my money!”

Speaking of consoles here.
- Comment on Microsoft's real problem was never PlayStation 1 week ago:
Valve really operates in a different market from Microsoft or Sony, but what hurt them was a couple of things:
-
Repeatedly skipping Ganescom essentially told Sony “Yeah, we don’t care about Europe.” And the sales numbers show it. Sony owns Europe.
-
No differential between console and PC. Launching the same game at the same time on PC and Xbox doesn’t incentivize people to a) buy games on Xbox or b) develop games on Xbox. Why bother if it’s on PC the same day?
-
Focusing on digital vs. physical takes games out of stores. On a recent trip to Target they had a nice big Playstation section and a nice big Switch section. Hey? Where are the Xbox games?

Every piece of news on the Switch 2 made it sound less and less impressive.
I’m the opposite of you, I pretty much buy EVERY console and I’m skipping the Switch 2 for now.
- Price is too high.
- Game prices are too high.
- Cartridges aren’t games, they’re download keys.
- Demo that should have been included is a paid demo.
- Features are pay gated after 1 year (camera).
If you absolutely need to entertain the 7 year old, get a Switch OLED. It’s a better deal.

- Comment on Did nightreign flop? 2 weeks ago:
From the Wiki:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elden_Ring_Nightreign
“released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on May 30, 2025. It received generally positive reviews and sold 3.5 million units.[1]”
So, first, it doesn’t matter how many concurrent players it has, it sold 3.5 million so it’s not s flop.
Second, it was released on 5 platforms, you are looking at concurrent players on Steam only.

Yeah, I gave up on Discovery when they went 1,000 years into the future. I did enjoy the first two seasons though!
Strange New Worlds has been more my jam.

Generations happened before the Kelvin timeline rebooted everything, so there’s no reason to think those events still happened. :)

All of the Assassin’s Creed games… AFTER the first one.
The first one was notorious, if you so much as got a toe wet it was instant death. LOL.

I can’t imagine a point and click RPG like Baldur’s Gate or Fallout 1 and 2 being remotely playable on a Steam Deck. You pretty much have to have a Mouse and Keyboard for them. The Glide Pads will only get you so far.
- Comment on [deleted] 3 weeks ago:
That’s exactly the problem… there are thousands of games but nothing stands out the way Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon do on a Nintendo platform.
I still look from time to time on my Deck. I picked up Borderlands 2 the other day because it was free.
But what I usually see browsing are a bunch of games I can already play on other systems, plus porn games, anime games, and anime porn games.
There really isn’t one game that stands out on the Deck.
Vampire Survivors?
macOS, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5En Garde? PC Exclusive, decent game, but limited and a little boring if I’m being honest.

There are limits as to what runs well on the Deck and what does not run well.
When I got my Steam Deck I was asking around to see what the “must have” game is with the caveat that I already have a Switch, Xbox Series X and PS5. So what’s a must have game on the Deck that I can’t already play?
. . .
The answer I got back was “Well, emulation, piracy, and streaming from the Xbox and PS5.”
There really isn’t a killer app on the Deck, and that’s fine. I bought mine to better explore the Steam ecosystem as I had no gaming PC at the time.
- Comment on [deleted] 3 weeks ago:
There are millions upon millions of Mario, Link, and Pokemon fans.
There are not millions and millions of… what’s the killer Steam Deck game again? Oh, right, there isn’t one.
If Valve came out with Half Life 3, made it Steam exclusive and a pack in with the Deck, then it would start putting up Nintendo numbers.

You’re confusing Blu Ray (which requires nothing like that) with BD-LIVE which does.
But, honestly, I haven’t seen a disc with BD-LIVE in ages.

You’d think, right? Best Buy and Target don’t sell them anymore. Walmart is hit and miss on anything other than new releases.
For national availability it’s pretty much Amazon these days.

$15 for a 4K disc that can’t be taken away from you. Physical is the answer.
