And more significantly, the Switch 2 is for kids. There’s no sizable youth market for the Steam Deck.
But out of all the handheld PCs, the Steam Deck is #1, so that should give you some idea about the sales on the others. 😉

I was looking at getting a Switch 2 MicroSD card for a gift and shit’s bonkers, yo.
I get they changed the standard for the Switch 2, but $300 for 1TB?

I say this as someone who loves their Steam Deck… Steam Deck sales are insignificant compared to consoles.
6 million in 3 years:

The Switch 2 has sold over 10 million, June to September. 3 months. There has been another 3 months since then.

If the disc exists, yes, but I’m talking about going to a store on launch day and not being able to find the big new release.

I missed “Nobody” until “Nobody 2” came out, both great flicks that likely opened this action door for him.

If it goes all digital next generation I won’t be bothering. I didn’t leave gaming, gaming is leaving me.
Cool, cool, plenty of backlog to get through…

This is about physical sales, not digital.

For physical software, it’s super hard to buy it if stores aren’t stocking it.
The Xbox section doesn’t really exist at Target, Walmart, or Costco anymore, and it’s on the way out at Best Buy. Naturally that’s going to have an impact on sales.
Further, Microsoft doesn’t seem interested in physical sales anymore. I probably would have bought Avowed if it existed in meat-space, it doesn’t. I had a really hard time sourcing Indiana Jones and Outer Worlds 2.
On the hardware side, I already have this generations worth of hardware (PS5, XSX, Steam Deck), and I’m not interested in all the baggage on the Switch 2.
Plus, hardware prices are up.
So the surprise would be if sales hadn’t gone down.

“The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. And I knew we’d get into that rotten stuff pretty soon. Probably at the next gas station. We had sampled almost everything else, and now— yes, it was time for a long snort of ether. And then do the next hundred miles in a horrible, slobbering sort of spastic stupor. The only way to keep alert on ether is to do up a lot of amyls—not all at once, but steadily, just enough to maintain the focus at ninety miles an hour through Barstow.”

That’s not a bad idea. I’ll need to measure the space once the shelves go up to get a better idea. Thanks!

Yeah, the pattern makes it intentionally hard to tell. It’s a vacuum formed plastic square with 4 circles.

In fairness, they are a set that I linked my wife to as a “yeah, something like this…”
Bookshelves are one of those things that can be like $80 each up to “How much would you like to spend?” These are reasonable.

Jar was empty too… I guess my wife cleaned it and didn’t re-fill it? 🤔 Honey is more her thing than mine.

- Comment on Waterstones would sell books written by AI, says chain's boss 2 weeks ago:
AI is a little bit more complicated than that due to the flaws that pop up in generating.
For example, here are some AI comic books that were created. What the author did was write the overall story, then used an AI prompt to create each panel of the comic.
Each panel took dozens to hundreds of attempts, out of which the author made the artistic decision to choose the best one.
“The Lesson” is probably my favorite of the bunch, but they’re free to download, check them out.

Computer based art was being used to sell books in bookstores 40 years ago.

In the 80s, comic book art was produced entirely with computer based art tools. It didn’t raise an eyebrow beyond “Oh, that’s neat!”

Bought the game on the strength of the “Mouse Guard” inspired imagery.
Finished it tonight, it’s a delight and anyone complaining about “wokeness” clearly has not played the game. Demo is free guys, rest of it plays out just like that.
- Comment on the game "Horses" now barred on Steam, Epic and Humble Bundle 2 weeks ago:
Read the plot summary of the play Equus linked above.
Like I say, this sounds like the gaming equivalent of Equus, which, when performed, involves a character supposed to be 17 doing exactly that.
The horses on stage are supposed to be “real” horses, but are performed by human actors. The male actor in these scenes is also typically nude.
NGL, it’s a HEAVY play to read and even heavier to watch, but it also won the 1975 Tony Award for best play…

I can see why some would shy away from it, but banning it is the sort of thing that will keep gaming from becoming a unique art form. 😟
