“It is what it is. They don’t think it be like it is, but it do.”
Is this from The Greatest TV Show Of All Time?
It doesn’t really sound like Deadwood, but I guess I should rewatch it again to be sure I didn’t miss something.
“It is what it is”
“And there is only thing we say to Death. Not today Why are you coming after me instead of Curtis?”
“Because I refuse to raise the stakes for the white folks at the top of the call sheet by killing a marginalized person. It’s a tired trope, and Curtis is going to get it after you and Jennifer.”
“Ohh, like Night of the Living Dead or Scream 2. Makes sense.”
:dies:
“Aww, fuck! Here we go again!”
“you gotta add something to make the alcohol gooey otherwise it’ll all burn off fast and then it’s just a fire glass rag grenade”?
“okay again that’s true but not the appropriate aphorism. i’m not sure that’s even an aphorism tell me about your mother and this time i’ll listen”
Therapist: … ??? … what are you doing?!! … where did you go??? … HEY!! COME BACK HERE!!!
Me: WE’RE GONNA DIEEEEEE!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!! THE END IS HERE!!!
Hyping yourself up and giving thanks to your mother/thinking positively about family in the same sentence? Wonderful. 😅
Honestly, “it is what it is” and “this too shall pass” can help you talk yourself into productive calmness in the vast majority of cases!
“Called it.”
Preceded by the when-I’m-happy of “this won’t last long”
what is the therapist meant to recommend instead?
Crying about it in a nicely furnished room and then paying them $500
Ah shit here we go again
This aggression will not stand, man.

Yeah, if your therapist isn’t on board with this then get a new one, lol. Humor and gassing yourself up are great life skills.
