Here’s a nice thread:

Notice how “Notification Center” is blurred for no reason?
The control center seems to be using some kind of super ellipsoids for no good reason.

What we want: OS updates that make the system more performant, more accessible, easier to use, smarter at using battery power, and more secure.
Apple: Let’s make everything an unreadable mess and tax the GPU to shit just for fucking UI elements, because we’re out of ideas.

Never eat the gas station sushi.
Uri@infosec.pub 1 year ago
Why?
sundray@lemmus.org 1 year ago
You can’t rely on a gas station mini-mart keeping up food safety standards, especially where raw fish is concerned. If you eat spoiled sushi you may get the squirts, aka “liquid ass.”

You know what, you’re right. Go ahead and eat it.

Or, open up a can of man and down that sushi. I have trained my body to handle whatever I put into it. Gas station sushi no longer affects me negatively.

You could absolutely make a tinted versions and print with them.

Hey apple when you are watching a reel on Instagram and you get a phone call, the Insta reel audio continues playing on top of the phone call audio, why don’t you fix something as basic as that and give the iPhone a real fuckin file system and make it easier to interact with no Apple devices instead of stupid gimmicks like this. I’m not holding my breath though, just switching back to Android once this one dies
moakley@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Maybe it’s not about poop. Maybe “liquid ass” is what was “poured into them jeans”?
Let’s have a little optimism on the internet for once.

We had transparent UI elements before and decided they were shit. Am I the only one still alive to remember?
Image
lefixxx@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I don’t remember vista being bad because of the translucency
merari42@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Na that was actually liked.being buggy, slow and having poor driver support at launch killed it. Windows 7 which was just polished Windows Vista was very popular.
UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 1 year ago
You could turn tranperency on or off and it still ran like shit. I only remember Nvidia driver would crash for the first week when released and then they fixed it.
zaphod@sopuli.xyz 1 year ago
I don’t recall this. I recall our corpo overlords taking away the glass from us without asking.
outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 year ago
I liked them.
Thats why i still use them on kde.
thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 1 year ago
I had to stop using them because my old laptop just cant keep up anymore 😪
I might have to replace it next year… good ol gal. She has been the same Arch install for almost 10 years
good laptops are like pets, they only last for a little while but some will be remember for how much joy they gave you
obinice@lemmy.world 1 year ago
It was glorious. I used Stardock’s Windows Blinds to adjust the transparency to what felt just right and that was chef’s kiss
Ahh, what we’ve lost…
cepelinas@sopuli.xyz 1 year ago
When did we decide they were shit?
RedstoneValley@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
Well, they are quite bad from a UI/accessibility perspective. While looking nice and fancy, it can be difficult to read the contents and makes it harder to identify information. That’s totally fine as an optional feature for those who like it, but the default should be a clean and easily accessible design.
Lyra_Lycan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 year ago
It’s expensive but I used Stardock on Windows. Specifically the bundle so I can use Fences and WindowFX. You can customise the hell out of Windows with their software, highly recommend. Free options do not come close.
skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
I’ve been using Fences for like 10 years with roll-up containers. Now that I’ve switched to Linux actually having icons on my desktop again is kind of driving me nuts.
Do you know of an alternative?
