Yeah, that was my thought too. What a dumb way to censor by search input instead of censoring the output.
It probably went like this at Meta: Product Manager: Hey we just got this word filter list from HQ to be implemented ASAP. Devs: Sure thing boss.

German news magazine Der Spiegel wrote they had talked to a Meta representative and they said “This is definitely an error and we will fix it fast”
My personal take: An incident like this illustrates how vulnerable we are to being censored and silenced when using social media and communication channels owned by billionaires. It’s time not only to leave those platforms but to educate your friends and family why this is absolutely necessary. No more excuses.

Just tested in in the EU with a friend’s Instagram account. It’s real.

I completely forgot about this one. These clowns also think they are very clever in using thinly veiled Nazi symbolism in their publications. Like using the number 18 in their recent “Abschiebeticket” campaign (1 = A, 8 = H in the alphabet and is common code among themselves for Adolf Hitler) And when asked about that they smugly pretend being absolutely innocent.

If you need some context, Musk is actively trying to influence German elections by advertising for the far right party afd. While doing something similar in the UK with the the right wing Reform party, and calling for a neo nazi to be released from prison.
So there’s that. It doesn’t even matter if this was a nazi salute or not, because it was clear that he is a fascist before this incident.

Probably a "supporting firefighter group vehicle“ to be exact.

Hilfeleistungs-Löschgruppen-Fahrzeug is a very odd composite word for Germans too. It’s not commonly used, this is probably "Amtsdeutsch“, a bureaucratic way of naming things as accurately as possible. Mostly used like that by government institutions and Microsoft help documents in german.

Shudders. This is why I (as a native German speaker) prefer english documentation.

My current PC used for gaming is a self built one from 2014. I have upgraded a few things during the years, most notably GPU and memory, but it did an excellent job for over a decade. Recently it started to show its age with various weird glitches and also some performance issues in several newer games and so I’ve just ordered a new one. But I’m pretty proud of my sustainable computing achievement.

Sooo, does the crocodile face to the left or to the right?
- Comment on Hurry 3 weeks ago:
My guess is grading. When you’re grading you need to supply a different amount of power to the arms depending on the angle. But I’m no expert in this. Seems to be the standard euro configuration and I was looking for this to setup a simulator

It’s for configuring joysticks in a simulator…

As a non-native english speaker, I don’t know what “pegging” means and now I’m too afraid to look it up.

They could be sentient without us knowing. But they live on a different time scale. Everything we do to them would happen very quickly in their perception. So don’t worry and bon appetit.
- Comment on English may be a hot mess but at least we don't have to worry about this nonsense 11 months ago:
It’s a little bit worse than that in fact. “Programmiererinnen und Programmierer” or “Programmierer:innen” or “Programmierende”. And if you get it wrong you are not a grammar nazi but more of a regular nazi.

The problem with this: Option b is not realistically an option. The whole point of Hamas hiding in civilian infrastructure and mingling with civilians is disguise. Or to put it another way: to make option b completely unfeasible. How would you identify Hamas members? Do they wear their bright orange terrorist uniform? Can you spot them by their mean facial expressions? And there is another problem with option b. Civilians in the building naturally do not see the IDF as their saviors from Hamas oppression, so there is a high chance that some of them will suddenly turn into non-civilians. Which leads to an out of control scenario and resulting bloodbath.
Disclaimer: This is not meant as a justification of option a. I’m just pointing out that option b is not a realistic option.
- Comment on Almost all remote-work news is negative now but was positive in the beginning of the pandemic. Have you noticed this or am I going crazy? 1 year ago:
I’d say it’s not all black or white. In my industry (software) most of my friends and colleagues have strong opinions about staying remote. It’s mostly along the lines of “either let me continue to work from home or find someone else”. Also most of the headhunter messages I get on LinkedIn offer up to 100% remote jobs. Of course this is all anecdotal and depends heavily on the field of work. But maybe it’s worth considering that you have the power to shape your own future. If you do not want to work in an office, you’ll find something else. Don’t let those corporations fool you.

It was meant to be a word play with a neocapitalist concept by that name. It’s literally trickling down on the users.
