      Recently had an elderly neighbour die, all his belongings turfed onto the street for collection including Narnia books and other long owned sentimental books/VHS. Had to collect it before it got rained on or collected to go to the op shop that was only 200m away.

    I have made it to Ballarat. Looking at the traffic going into the city I am glad I wasn’t travelling the other way.

    I have hot air coming from my ceiling vents, and hot water comes out of the taps. The internet is internetting. Now I need to do a bit of cleaning and start making the place look more like a home.

    It was meant to be! Salmon was on special. I was tired but I painstakingly picked the watercress, made the salad with apple and a lemon dressing (painful with a cut finger), and heaped some delicious pre-made potato stuff. A fine dinner to the end the week on!

    I can’t help but feel like a prick ugh my aunt has moved to Maffra and is hosting family tomorrow night/overnight to celebrate housewarming/April&May birthdays.

    I have not been able to organise for anyone to check on mickey while we’re gone. It isn’t feasible to bring him (dad driving us, aunt already has a cat, there will be a big dog). I know he’ll be okay, we have done once before one Xmas where I left the aircon on for him and heaps of food around - so I’m confident he’ll be okay and fine. But there’s that niggling fear that I’m a bad fkn owner. Idk just a vent - I’m happy if people wish to pass judgement aita style.

    I’m lucky he isn’t super food motivated, I can leave food around and he won’t scoff it then vomit. I’ll put the reverse cycle on warm for him and make a couple of nests out of the oodies, hoodies, and couch-blankets. I’ll dry food out and around and make sure his water is changed tomorrow morning before I go. He’ll be fine! Fuck!

 today has not been a good day. It’s only getting worse.

    TW vomiting, medical, disordered eating

    For those playing at home I have gastroparesis secondary to h-EDS and it’s also caused enough involuntary weight loss that I don’t have enough of an internal fat pad to stop a ligament pinching the vein to my kidney. I’m in constant pain, mostly bed bound and vomiting because I’m unable to even digest crackers. Completely liquid diet might be back on the cards. My team is going to go back to pushing for a feeding tube but drs resist until it’s the last resort so who knows if they’ll intervene.

    Shucks, well I thought today’s meeting with my supervisor was gonna be a bust because I spent all morning in a funk and didn’t prepare much, but it was much less rushed than yesterday and we covered some really good ground! The model I was struggling with yesterday turned out to be good enough. Plus I got some very positive feedback on the logic flow and reassurance that it was all heading in the right direction (enough for a really minor thesis, anyway) even though I know there’s flaws with the data.

    I got a decent thick fleece jacket at the op shop but washed it repeatedly trying to get the fabric softener perfume out and now it’s looking a little worse for wear :(

    At least I also got a button up shirt and a woven cotton blanket which are like hens teeth now

    Vacuuming and washing the outside of the windows has also been done. I’m just about to start on mopping and then I can spend some time assembling things (and bringing more stuff in from the van).

    I have decided whoever installed the sliding doors here put them in the wrong way. The traffic flow through both the laundry and the living room would work better if they opened in the other direction, and the space for the washing machine (with both the power point and drainage point in the sink) would block the doorway if you actually put the machine there. Fortunately it’s a big area and there is still space for the machine, but I am going to have to run the power cord across to the other side of the sink and hook the drainage pipe over the side of the sink instead of using the built in drainage hole.
