Perfect half moon.
StudChud@aussie.zone 11 months ago
First quarter tonight, with my period all nicely synced up with it too 🙄🤦🏼♀️
just_kitten@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Can feel the first hint of properly cold air in my oven of an apartment. Summer is over for real!
Last day of daylight savings, too… and I’m relieved because the dark mornings are hard.
StudChud@aussie.zone 11 months ago
So I woke up at like 1pm. One beer and two glasses of prosecco last night and I was out like a light.
I feel good though today, not depressed or anything. I could still sleep, but I’m having a coffee and cuddle with Mickey :) all is well.
On another note, I am so proud of my partner: his first week at his new job went really well! And he discovered that the building his new work is in, his OLD workplace has moved to as well! So he has reconnected with a couple of people from the call centre he used to manage! They’re stoked that they can hang out with my partner during lunch! I’m stoned for him and them!
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I’m stoned for him and them! 🗿

Omg 😂😂😂 I’m leaving it!

Hell yeah! That’s incredible. Good on him :)
just_kitten@aussie.zone 11 months ago
After yesterday’s really lovely day I feel energized today (rare for a sat am, usually I sleep in and feel groggy and need the day off to recover from the week). Already got on top of a few long delayed chores including washing some woollen things sitting around for months. I have nowhere to dry clothes outdoors and no direct light indoors, hopefully they’ll dry well enough…
Gonna try doing my last big cook up for a while - making dal makhani for the first time later today (with butter but no cream - cashew cream instead), use up those Jerusalem artichokes, and do a nice green side dish, maybe stir fried greens. Hmm maybe the Viet groceries on Vic st have something interesting. Craving amaranth…
dumblederp@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Pretty interested in the cashew cream dal update.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Will let you know how it goes. Dal makhani is a bit different to most dals I’ve made as it’s entirely whole pulses not split. Everything’s still got a couple more hours to soak.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 11 months ago
It’s nice to be able to stay up past 10pm and wake up later than 7am lol

Duenan@aussie.zone 11 months ago
That’d make a great prank, put it next to the bed of someone sleeping and see their reaction when they wake up.

Catfish@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Yes please. Does it eat yukkas?
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I’m pretty sure if it ate yukkas it would be worth a lot more. It would make a great business.

Inspired by the aldi camping sale this weekend I was looking up gear because I want to get a basic camping setup (ex had all the gear when we got together and I left it all with him). Aldi was a good start but then I made the mistake of looking on Facebook marketplace and now my internet experience is just tents all the way down…

I’ve had a chance to sort out the photos I took on Wednesday.

Gorgeous photos

Lovely! Was this Cranbourne?
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 11 months ago
The first set was at Sandringham, the others were Cranbourne.

FUCK IT FEELS GOOD TO PLAY GUITAR!!!
It’s been a week. Any question I had about needing music making in my life is answered.
Wooooooooooo!
calhoon2005@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I bought a ticket to see Tommy Emmanuel today. Gonna be incredible.
For example - Here he is playing Classical Gas

They have not been stolen!!

I’m going on an adventure to Footscray. Haven’t been for years. I hope I don’t get killed. 💀
tone212_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
It’s changed a lot, the signs of gentrification all over but the old Footscray is still very much there. It’s a unique place.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
it’s so run down it’s scary and sad
bacon@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Crossing the road at Bourke Street Mall:
- A man in an Australian flag shirt holding an Israeli flag shouts at the crowd waiting for the tram
- Magician busker asks people to stop to watch him perform so he can go home and sleep
- Homeless man shouts UGLY BITCH at no one in particular
- Violinist busker plays Ludovico Einaudi. He is the only one getting any attention.
And that’s on top of all the usual leaflets people
It never gets boring.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 11 months ago
My favorite there was a good few years back - skinny longhaired teenager playing New York State of Mind on transparent vinyl bagpipes. And he did a stompin good job of it too.

The litter of cats have all been fed. I’ve doubled the amount of dry food for the strays, so now they have 2 fairly large containers.
My personal fluffball has had her afternoon treats.
Time for some zonk and hoping the crack head next door doesn’t yell and scream all day and night.

Wow, iron infusions really do make you feel rough. Hopefully it passes soon
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 11 months ago
With any luck the boost in iron will help you feel more energised, too. I’ve been taking the tablets and I’m gradually getting better, so it does seem to work
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I so hate the tablets - had to take them after cancer treatment and they sucked.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 11 months ago
It should pass soon and hopefully you’ll feel like you’ve got some energy!
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 11 months ago
And I get woken up by the screaming junkie.
I fucking hate this place.

I’m so pumped to play DnD again, it’s been forever since I’ve had the time to join.
dumblederp@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I’m in two games that tend to run fortnightly.
Sasha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 months ago
Jealous! I’ve barely got time for one fortnightly game, but today one of my mates is trying out DMing by running a one shot. Should be awesome!

DAE think LinkedIn is kinda stupid? My sister has networked with people through there and had job offers as a result. You do have to sell yourself when you go for a job and LinkedIn is like a digital CV. However, it just seems like a glorified form of social media where people are obsessed with climbing the corporate ladder and flaunting themselves. But the posts, man, the posts.
Pilk@aussie.zone 11 months ago
DAE?? You would struggle to find someone who disagrees with this take.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Some people I’ve met (the ones who make the posts) would disagree.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I use it as a basic digital CV and to contact people in the industry if I don’t have any other way of approaching them. The social media stuff i pretty much ignore.

I made the dal makhani after 7 hours of soaking and an hour of boiling the pulses. Alas, it didn’t really turn out like I expected - granted, it’s not a dish I grew up with or ate enough of to be really familiar with. Neither do i have much experience with these ingredients. Bought the wrong kind of urad dal (no skin) and followed recipes with too high a ratio of urad dal:kidney beans to my tastes. The end result was a bit too mushy and bland for my liking although it was no fault of the cashew cream, which I can report to @dumblederp worked well despite all the other problems. It reduced the slimy texture of urad dal and gave it a lovely creamy mouthfeel.
Ended up adding way more spices and eating it with copious amounts of lime pickle. Would try cashew cream again but need to change a few things if I try this dish again.
Kidney beans I can use in other dishes, but man I have a lot of urad dal to go through.

Flower patch update:

Kinda worked out better than I thought it would. Pretty much hands off, only taken out 1 weed… did it all by itself.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Oh man, such garden jealousy/fomo right now. I really wish I could afford a garden atm! My aunties garden in WA has been commandeered by my manchild uncle so even if I go there for a few months there’s not much I can do. Absolutely love those poppies. So striking!
You would know that famous little nature strip at the corner of Walpole and Malmsbury - owner replants seasonal flowers without fail - it reminds me a bit of that.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Ooh I do know that one!
I tried asking the council if I could plant shit on mine but they said no :( Something about visibility and lead (Pb) which I thought was silly.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 11 months ago
That looks amazing mate 👍🏾
