Alternative: Ménière’s disease, so you just can’t hear it!

I don’t even sleep with a fan for the noise, I love the sensation of wind in my face and also being warm under the blankets while the room feels freezing.

I leave one foot out. Warm foot and cool foot. Perfect balance.

Mummy sleeping bag in a tent feels great as well after a long day. Bit of a chilly face makes the rest feel that much more comfy

I wrap myself up in blankets but make a small tunnel for cold air to hit my face. Feels great.

I need my fans in order to sleep. Their worship is what sets my mind at ease. If I am not lulled into slumber by their jubilant adorations I will wake with a great and terrible vengeance to wreak havoc upon this earth

    • prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

Well yes, of course, that’s why the hedge_lord accords were written into the fan laws.

      But for everyone else …

Wait, can people sleep with the noise of a fan in the background? I like complete darkness and complete silence.

    • Ibaudia@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

      I have tinnitus so I can’t sleep without a fan or noise-maker.

      • HappyFrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

Me too, but I don’t really feel that bothered by it.

I can’t sleep without the noise of a fan in the room.

    • HipsterTenZero@dormi.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

That would be ideal, but a problem arises when there isn’t complete silence in the background. Noisy neighbors, housemates, cats running around in the hallway at 3 in the morning. The fan noise mutes it to some degree, and then you begin to register the fan as silence-adjacent.

Because this is not an option for 99% of people. Even if you are in the sticks you get the bugs making noise.

I absolutely need the fan noise since it’s steady and keeps me cool

      My wife. Drives me nuts.

  • Mr_Fish@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

You’re really not a fan of that idea. You just need to chill out about it.

I don’t sleep with a fan, it blows air on me and that sucks becaue I’ll wake up with eye boogers and my eyes will feel weird. I don’t understand how people would prefer that

I can understand the noise aspect though, even if I don’t personally like it. My parents have used a little noise machine for the past 10 years.

    • KuroiKaze@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

That simply doesn’t happen to me, had a fan on my face my entire life

      source
    • HipsterTenZero@dormi.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

The trick is to point it at you feet, not your face. Faster temperature regulation when you have to stick exactly one foot out to not be too hot.

    • thejoker954@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

I just make sure the fan isnt blowing directly at my face. Keeps eye issues at bay.

Honest question: I always have my fan, even in winter, because of the noise. I haven’t found a video that sounds the same, they end up sounding like static or something. Maybe flat? Anyone actually know of one that sounds like a good fan?

Have you tried a brown noise generator? Not a fan, but works for me.

      source
      • 2ugly2live@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

I haven’t tried brown noise. I’ll give that a shot, thank you. 😊

They sell white noise machines which might be what you’re looking for.

      • 2ugly2live@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

I’ll have to check some out. The ones I’ve tried always sound static like.

Can I still use the AC though

    source
    • Zeth@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

Sure you can. But the fan can’t spin. Good luck!
