- Comment on How abnormal is it for a mother to be her son a fleshlight for his 18th birthday? 2 days ago:
I cant say if it’s because of the sex stigma in the usa or because it’s just weird
Context could make it better I guess - like maybe the sons a sex/porn addict or something along those lines.
But you said this particular context makes it worse (and the only worse context I can think of right now is she had it molded to herself) so I would have to say it’s pretty abnormal.
my mom bought me playboys back in the day somewhere around my 14th/15th birthday and I was pretty weirded out by that relatively ‘benign’ act.

Yeah I wanna say the majority of people have less holidays off these days already. Hell even paid holidays (where the business doesn’t close but you get 1.5x pay) seem to be shrinking.

‘Best’ case scenario for refusing to be a prisoner slave is you would lose all “privileges”.
No yard time, probably placed into solitary. No commissary access - so things like soap and toothpaste would be withheld.
Food is also restricted to “basics” along the lines of bread and water.
Of course the reality is they will straight up torture you for not playing by their rules. Aka complete withholding of food and interaction and cleanliness as they either ‘forget’ you in solitary or just have an ‘accident’ with you.
- Comment on Harris Yulin Gave 'Deep Space Nine' One of Its Greatest Performances 1 month ago:
I’d classify Garak as Military. While he isn’t a soldier per se him being a Spook (Especially a Cardie Spook) means he was directly involved in tactical ops.
Marritza by contrast was doing a decidedly civilian job (file clerk) and most likely only ever participated in combat during training.

I just rewatched that episode about a month ago. Such an amazing episode.
RIP Harris Yulin.

I may be misremembering, but I think it got the Firefly treatment with out of order episodes too.

It actually does lol.

I’d like to give an honorary shout out to the From Dusk til Dawn series.
No Selma, but still offers quite the feast for the eyes while actually being an enjoyable remake of the movie.

Just watched Paradise over the last few days.
I initially slept on it because it sounded generic in the most boring of ways. But holy shit it was good.
Besides for some bits in Sinatra’s episode I was riveted the whole time.
Everybody involved with it deserve a round of applause.

- Comment on Jurassic World Rebirth | Official Trailer 2 2 months ago:
Ok one thing really in the trailer that really grinds my gears is an exchange bewtween 2 characters. C1 - “you don’t see that everyday” C2 - “or ever” in regards to fucking dinosaurs 7(?) movies deep.
- Comment on No we can talk here 2 months ago:
Its not really stolen from Discworld. I mean I could argue it was “stolen” from Myth-adventures as much as it was “stolen” from Discworld.
Pratchett takes the piss on a lot of ‘norms’.
Yes there is a vampire temperance league and there is a side character who is a vampire who talks like that, but it’s just background pretty much.

Just watched the 1st 2 episodes of Murderbot.
I like it. It’s humorous, but not overbearingly so.
- Comment on ‘The Pitt’ Emmy Submissions Revealed With Noah Wyle Up For Lead Actor & Writing 2 months ago:
Very realistic. And visceral. (Maybe too much for some - I was certainly surprised they actually showed a baby being born.)
I consider ER to be a soap opera, where everything else takes 2nd place to the drama.
The Pitt recognizes the importance of all the background stuff.
Things are said and done at the appropriate time. No technobabble, defib being used correctly - stuff like that.

I’m really enjoying the show more than I thought I would. I almost dropped it in season one, glad I stuck around.
- Comment on Why ‘Suits LA’ Was One and Done 2 months ago:
Suits LA is pretty much the opposite of Suits in that respect. It feels a lot more lighthearted than Suits or Pearson.
While there still is macho man bullshit it is nowhere near the level of Suits. And there’s a ‘softness’ to most characters that is displayed a lot more than Suits ever showed.

Dissenting opinion.
I enjoyed the Gorge. The story needed some more work, but other than that it was a lot better than I expected.
I thought it’d be a cheesy B movie, but it’s more solid than that.

I felt the same way about “From” however we do actualy start to get some answers in season 3 so I’ve become cautiously optimistic.
That’s not to say that the final answer won’t still fall flat at the end.
