I heard France has laws that require supermarkets to donate food that barely over expiration date.
It’s ridiculous that within 24h food goes from totally safe to totally unsafe.

I think I saw a report many years past that engineers make a bigger than expected proportion of radicalized people, in the context of middle east insurgencies.

Unions also fund legal fees for individual employees problems, with the goal of challenging future unfair decisions by employers against isolated individuals.

In pre-slavic society, you don’t eat worm. Worm eats you, then commands you to reproduce so worm has more you to eat.

Plot twist: now I’m a porn hub contributor
Plot twist twist: I get famous even if for the wrong reasons ( I’m not sure what the right reason would be anymore, but I’m not judging)
Plot twist twist twist: I get a lawyer to licence my content and now I’m an artist, living from royalties and tv show appearances.

UK lower cost!?! Living from dividend? This is full of bs
- Comment on Is there any point for current US-based "skilled immigrants" to stay in the US? 3 weeks ago:
Yes, there are other options however it’s a balance of how hard it is vs what country is most convenient vs how many visas get granted.
I went from South America to Australia. The time zone and air travel distance sucks big time and matter when getting in touch with family. South American presence here is minimal so restaurants and culture are hard to find. But I’m not afraid my son will get killed while getting mugged. And that tips the balance even a bit more than my ability to have stable finances.

State Rep is corpo bitch. Better take the complain to porn hub, they would then order state bitch to fix it.
- Comment on What is the argument for making poor/working class folks shoulder the burden of taxes? 1 month ago:
And that’s the definition of capitalist vs working class. A top surgeon makes a lot of money yes, but they are still working class because their main income is from salary.
Earning a big salary or buying some stocks don’t make anyone a capitalist. Being the owner of Johnson and Johnson, hiring an administrator and not working a day in your life does. And that’s the kind of people who get richer with any crisis, holds the biggest part of Johnson and Johnson profits, and pays no tax at all.

In most fields " so fast that’s instantaneous" is pretty fast, but in nuclear and quantum physics that’s a whole new level.
What is the order of magnitude of your " too fast ”? I will invert that to state the bandwidth in Hertz.

Oh mate I love sleeping in hammock, it takes some technique but it’s the best. I haven’t done that in 20 years so I may need extra research to be able to stand up now.
Unfortunately I can’t hang one where I live, the fence is not strong enough and I’m renting.

Totally
Same with backyard. None of my neighbors are ever in their backyard. How do I know? If it’s not raining and it’s above 20c very likely I am in mine.
- Comment on I'm a reasonably well educated human living on Earth. What's to stop me from replicating starship parts until I can make my own Starfleet? 2 months ago:
Just because it’s post scarcity and money is not pursued is not enough. You still need significant economic activity to put everything together, and big part of that is human labor.
About representing humanity that’s a politics side, does most of humanity recognize you? Piss off the federation president and get sent to found your own colony where you get to represent.
- Comment on Cool People Doing Cool Things 2 months ago:
It’s the hero myth that came to life at the time of Beethoven, of a misunderstood genius. Yes that guy was pretty good at what he did, but it was simply that he got progressively deaf and couldn’t socialize with people anymore.
From that to marvel movies stereotype of one man prodigy and media idolizing individuals with sob stories.
Look at Nobel prizes in science, they’re often multiple names, and behind each names there’s countless decades of graduate students contributions and their teams.
