Plate of absolutely deliciousness from the Malaysian place around the corner from work. So so so tasty!
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 year ago
India all out for 150. Nothing makes me laugh more than r/cricket when India are losing.
BTW 150 is a shit score
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Hopefully our batting is a lot better than that.
After seeing the ODI we better not replicate that.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I feel very much improved by my swim

Just got home. Closing all the windows/curtains/roller shutters worked. Nice 25 deg in kitchen. The effing houseplants will just have to cope with low light conditions for today & termorrer. Fussy little buggers.
Time to defrost an emergency quiche for din dins. Cbf cooking anything.
Note to self : restock on cheap white plonk suitable for drinking over ice. The current cardboard box is getting a bit light and sloshy.

Picked up giant heavy box from post office, I had to bring a trolley and drag it home. 5 loads of rubbish taken down to the rubbish room so far, 2 to go. Then washing to hang out on the clothes rack ( I washed the rack, it gets grimy from city smog ) , vacuuming, more washing. It’s getting warm here.

Not much uni work done today but at least I’ve ticked off a few more items - dropped off flattened boxes at work, picked up old bike temporarily stored there, printed out pathology referral, dropped off friend’s forgotten item northside, grabbed a bit of potting mix to take back, dropped off the old bike at CERES, rushed back home as I’d left lunch there, back at uni, then popped out again to have my tyres looked at again because of the check tyre pressure light - turns out it just needed resetting.
Back now for about two hours before I just go have drinks at work or something and choof off home. Pretty chuffed that there is movement and progress
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Wow. That’s a lot of stuff done in a day.
Well done.
Hope the weather isn’t wearing you down and drinks at the end will definitely help wind things down today.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I’m definitely a bit dusty but it hasn’t been too bad as I did most of the physical stuff before 11am and been enjoying A/C either at uni or in the car most of the rest of the time. Found good shaded paths to walk for the most part.
I’ve had breakfast and lunch and am starting to feel hungry again though, damn. Will be having a big serving of dinner tonight. How are you holding up in this heat?
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 1 year ago
You definitely deserve a wind-down - have a lovely evening:-)
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I’m pretty glad i got my TV set up last night, don’t need to do anything tonight and can just blob out listening to tunes, maybe start a TV show
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago

I wish I could play video games longer than an hour. Goddamn adhd.
In other news, Fluffball is content in front of the aircon
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Ikr. I just want to get to that flow state I used to have lol
Gibson looking as sweet as ever! 😻
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Same!!! I have it with music which I’m super grateful for. Even have it with work and the gym. Just can’t maintain it with games :(
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
ta da, just finished reading a general text book on modern handwriting and calligraphy. I have learned much. One thing is that it is near impossible to have nice Modern Round English script, the script I was taught at school. It looks crap for nearly everyone and is hard to get to look right with thick and thin lines with a pointy pen.
Books on Italic handwriting scripts have been ordered. 🙂
Today I also watched Young Fronkensteen. I think comedians often make movies with their friends so they can make jokes. Which is great too. 😸 3.5 hobbits .

Dr. Frankenstein: You must be Igor.
Igor: No, it’s pronounced “eye-gor.”
Dr. Frankenstein: But they told me it was “ee-gor.”
Igor: Well, they were wrong then, weren’t they?Slays me everytime, one of my favorite movies

Any ideas on where to go out tomorrow night for drinks? Usually I’d go to a bar or live music but wondering if anyone has summer evening suggestions
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 year ago
in this heat? arbory afloat
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Excellent!
indisin@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Yeah in this heat those sound like decent suggestions other than Arbory being stupidly priced, I’d only add Riverland or maybe Boat Builders but more of a walk for something even more casual.
Otherwise you’re looking out for well cooled rooftop bars that are further out. There are some in the CBD like the rooftop cinema but others are a specific vibe.
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I think you are East? Possibly a bit too far but I’m fond of Hail Lilith
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Will suss it out. There’s nothing here so I’m used to travelling
indisin@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Replied to another comment but also if CBD is an option you could try Cigalo. Cigars on the rooftop terrace with cigars and cocktails is fun.
I remember that you vape, and so I hope you remember that I’m a bad influence.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Completely forgot that the Queenscliffe music fest. is on over the w/e.
Been hearing them do sound checks all day.
Brought up the line up… only name I recognise is the wiggles sound system.
Not exactly slammin’ Drum and Bass but I hope they play this Certified banger with none other than DJ DOROTHY
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Dorothy could do with a tip from Heavysaurus I love that there’s heavy metal for children in Germany!

Has anyone here ever had real event OCD? Asking for a friend.
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Haven’t heard that term. Boyo has CPTSD and needs rewiring for neuroplastic pain. Some of the external signs are what pop culture calls OCD.
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Seen it on tv if that counts.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Isn’t that PTSD, or is there a difference??? I’m asking cos I just don’t know.
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 year ago
There’s a difference. OCD is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The most well known symptom is being compelled to do a certain thing over and over until it is “right”, such as turn off a light switch multiple times until you get it “right”, or washing your hands until they bleed because you can see “germs” still.
PTSD is when a person experiences and extremely traumatic event, such as war zone combat, victim of an assault, etc. the brain will rewire and enact pathways to “protect” you from the event/memory. This leads to the brain not storing the memory in long term memory, but always in short term, so flashbacks (essentially being teleported back to the traumatic event) occur frequently as the brain thinks the short term memory is a new event that is happening.
CPTSD is similar, but it’s Chronic or Complex. This means a person has experienced trauma over a long period of time, or multiple times. I have this. This can be caused by being stuck in an extremely abusive relationship (be it romantic or familial), and the brain has a plethora of short term memories not stored correctly, so the triggers for a flashback are numerous and esoteric. The flashback won’t just be one event, it could be multiple different events.
That’s a simplified explanation.

no sorry

Last chance day for cupboard sales, all the leftovers are going out on the naturestrip. There should be a buyer picking up one this morning which means only two left over. It’s been a bit tedious getting rid of them. but it is good to get the space back. Now I just need to move the tent - I’ve sold it three times already to people who never showed up.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I guess if they were loveable you wouldn’t be abandoning them on the side of the road
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Very true.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I have to visit a sort of lecherous client today (long story).
Then that’s basically it. Just free roam around lol

5/10 - a couple of lucky guesses, but more unlucky ones. Story of my life.
mysticgreg@aussie.zone 1 year ago
7/10. That’s it, I’ve peaked for the day, time to pack it all up and go home.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 year ago
6/10
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
4 / 10 today
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 1 year ago
5/10 can’t just blame lack of coffee, sadly
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I only managed 4/10, and that was largely guessing
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Late night wine fueled brain thoughts.
Cat is a lot and I miss the dog. Games are great but so damn frustrating. Collecting supplies but my creativity seems empty. What is easy is not satisfying, what is difficult just makes me cry. I’m tired.

Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago

Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
No, I ordered nothing, other people’s stuff on my doorstep.
wscholermann@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Got omni spinfit ear buds tips for my pixel pro buds.
Noise cancellation vastly improved and the buds actually stay in my ears. I had to get the xl though for the most secure fit. Although there’s only 1 mm in diameter between the sizes. Hopefully I’ve picked the right size and it won’t make my ears ache after prolonged use.

I dunno if DJ dorothy the dino is tearing up the decks tonight at the queenscliff musik fest. but the neighbours dogs are having none of it.
Must be a fair rig though can hear it from 2.5km away.
Reminds me of approaching park parties, slightly muffled bass… getting louder… louder… then you made it! And then after a few hrs you realise oh shit now I have to try and make it back home.

Melbcat does not like being brushed. Last night she tolerated gentle finger combing and the fine toothed side of my own comb, but I just lost her trust again by going in a bit enthusiastically with the slicker brush.
