You need to put them out in the sunshine, warm them up and makes them sweeter!
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Definitely. I do that with tomatoes too. So much more tastier.

Made a thread for tomorrow! Hopefully it’s okay that it’s nice and early, because I am going to sleep. Goodnight all :)

Finally back home and settled.
Everything took so much longer today due to the massive traffic accident on the Nepean highway being blocked in 3 lanes.
Entry to car park of shopping centre was closed and escalator was borked.
Was too tired so I didn’t get to look at some stuff I wanted to and I didn’t get the potatoes. I’ll get them next week.
Anyway glad to be safely home with all the stuff happening.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Getting home definitely feels so much more of a relief when you’ve had a shitty drive - time to kick back and relax and enjoy your long weekend now :)
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Thank you.
You’ve also done such an amazing job with packing up for your move.
You deserve some rest and dinner as well!
Just cooking up some of those green leafy vegetables.
I’m not even sure what they are but they’re used in Asian dishes and have like little yellow flower spouts?
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
WHEW. I am tuckered. The house is starting to look a lot emptier, though!
Today's tasks were...
- uni meeting online - misc admin (the REA still hasn’t arranged what time I’ll pick up the keys tomorrow… truly useless) - Packing stationery - Dismantling the bed frame and vacuuming so much dust underneath - Filling in the holes from the blinds now removed (mostly my friend did it…) - Dismantling the bookshelf - Consolidated op shop clothes, books and shoes (which my friend generously dropped off) - put the clothes and shoes to throw out in the bin - MOVED OUT ALL MY OUTDOOR PLANTS (except for two heavy planter boxes) ;_;
Swung by MKS on my way back to treat myself to some takeaway curries for dinner.
Now my next big task is the kitchen items… need to juggle this against the timing of unplugging my fridge on Sun am.
That’s enough for today though I think. I’m proud of myself and endlessly grateful to my friend.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 1 year ago
You are doing amazing 🤟
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Yeah I pushed myself to pack up my monitors and other wfh items to try and get that big messy area out of the way.
I won’t have everything done by the time another friend comes over on Saturday to help with the main move, but at least that stuff can go.
Now I’m really done for the day! 😪

Nice! I am hoping to replicate your stawbs success but so far I’m being outsmarted. I’m just hoping the chillies take off soon as that will be my sweet revenge.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 year ago
My strawberries were thriving on being forgotten - I had some self-seeded lettuce going to seed in the tubs they are in, plus a radish going to seed flopping over from the garden next to them. Apparently that’s the way they like it because they have been quietly fruiting underneath all that. I’ve cleaned up the area a bit and put some mesh over the top of them, hopefully they won’t decide that’s too much attention.
I’ve also got some raspberries ripening. They are a bit of a pain because they ripen one at a time on each stem, and I have to cover each stem with a bag to keep the birds off. So every day I have to remove and replace a bunch of bags to get a small handful of raspberries. When I move I will definitely be investing in a proper cage so I can cover the whole plant.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 year ago
yum! How are your strawberries ready? I thought we were supposed to plan them the other weekend?
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Thursday. Nearly the weekend. Give me strength.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
The packening begins… in an hour, I am still le tired.
I ate half a bag of chips yesterday for dinner, that was not a good idea.
mysticgreg@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Then have a nap
THEN FIRE ZE MISSILES!
Sorry, had to. It’s the law :D
Also, I see nothing wrong with your choice of dinner!
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 year ago
First time I saw that flash animation, I was 12 or 13 and had found ebaumsworld. That was the site that entertained me before Google was around to collate everything into a search list or whatever.
I watched that bloody animation on repeat cackling like a hyena 😂
^fucking kangaroos^
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Ha, I was waiting for someone to say it! Missiles slowly being loaded now.
And I’d normally be very supportive of chips for dinner but somehow my gut didn’t like it - cramps, burping and farting like a MF. Also super dehydrated. All good now though.
wscholermann@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Mental health wise I’ve been in real crisis for the past couple of weeks but I seem to have come back from the brink somewhat.
Is it weird that I don’t remember large chunks (think years) of my childhood?
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Glad to see you back 💜 I noticed your absence but wondered if you were just lurking 💜
I'ma place this under a spoiler just in case
I also am missing a lot from my childhood, but that’s the cptsd. Trauma tends to cause a repression, though I assume you know this. Please don’t take me saying this, as telling you what’s up. That’s just my experience.
Also, I do think some memories do fade naturally anyway, especially as we age.
I hope things take a turn for the better for you WS 💜
wscholermann@aussie.zone 1 year ago
It’s interesting because a lot probably is suppression but I don’t know how much is just die to old age.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
memories do fade and change with age.
goodthanks@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Most people forget childhood memories. Having photos can trigger memories. Also, if you’re a smoker I’ve found it dulls childhood memory. When I quit and get my sense of smell back it triggers memories. Early life memories are strongly linked to smell.

I fucking hate living here.

Stomach still fucked but at least I don’t have to go to work till next Wednesday!
Just hope tummy isn’t too sore for the weekend birthday debauchery lol

Apologies I’m not on here frequently enough to see everything, but have you spoken to your GP and this is an ongoing issue or is it defo a virus? Pantoprazole changed my life. Obviously speak to a GP first.

Pulled the longest hair out of my shoulder. Blonde, curly, and about 6cm in length. Sadly did not have a matching one on the other shoulder, so it had to go.

Found a backpack in the front garden today and these are the contents
Most of it I understand and it obviously belongs to someone with not so very good intentions. You’ve got syringes, keys, tools, gloves, hammer, crowbar etc… but a TV remote (and no TV) and a pair socks has me fairly perplexed.
Don’t need this right now but as they say bad luck comes in threes just waiting for #3

Mr Piffles, The World’s First Magic Performing Chihuahua died last week - a day after Toby. I met Mr Piffles in Vegas back in 2016 and he was a very good boy indeed.

So my uncle’s cat, Casper, had to be euthanised a little while back (he was 20yo, and he just got too sick to go on). So they had an excess of wet cat food and litter. Mickey loves it, though I have to supplement with normal wet food, because this food is for cats with urinary tract issues which I think has a lower amount of taurine. This is fine, he gets a variety anyway.
My issue is it’s Purina, which is owned by Nestle. 🤦🏼♀️ Why does the cat have to like the food made by one of the most unethical companies that exist today? 😭

The switch to video feature on Spotify is pretty cool. The way it switches to exactly where the audio track is playing in the video on command. Probably a gimmick I’ll get over but for now, I’m enjoying watching music videos I haven’t seen for ages (or never seen).

Broke out the corset for a fit check before weekend do. I am very remindered why personal maids were a thing. Awk

Ok on the topic of strawbs - if anyone is around the Mornington Peninsula, Sunny Ridge Strawberry farm often sell big boxes of strawberries. Was $10 for a giant box and they were sweet. Most of them are in the freezer now, but very good value if anyone’s ever down that way :)
indisin@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Should I be taking pics of our strawberries at this stage?

Well, shit. My line up manager had been given the golden handshake. And the new line up manager is my previous boss who is probably the biggest asshole on the planet. soo… yeah I think its time to jump ship. the current direct manager stays the same, and I adore them but I’m just not prepared to work for the asshole again.
WHY are they doing this stuff in november ffs?!
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Not the best time to start looking BUT a great time to polish up your CV and such.
Start spamming applications and you might get your foot in early in the new year.
Good luck!
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Yeah but any time working for this prick is a bad time, so nothing ventured nothing gained. Just knowing I plan to leave makes it bearable, even if it takes a few months to land something. plus might be the fun to be a fly on the wall and watch shit go down. “manager” has no business managing. Be that his small team or half the damn department.
