Good news! Just got a phone call from work, the client found the missing $$$ (and from the sound of it it was $$$) so thatâs a relief to say the least.
Change in the attitude of the carer lead was⊠a thing. But a cordial conversation was had and sheâs taken me off that client, so all well there.
Iâd put in an application to join a union this morning and Iâll keep on with it, as knowing aged care odds are that Something Will Happen.
But now I can do dinner tonight and really enjoy it, not just try and use it as a distraction!

Working in the community can be great, it can also be shit. Glad the dollars were found, but it does make you feel like garbage to have your professional integrity questioned. Union protection is a good idea.
oztrin@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Exactly to all. I forget who said âIâm utterly and abjectly pissed offâ but it summed up my state of mind!
StudChud@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Just join your union anyway, itâs always a good thing and they need the support too, to advocate for you. Forget cmfuckup, and focus on your own union and the good things they can do for you. :)
Iâm so glad this has worked out, and that they know you had nothing to do with it! Enjoy your day and all the beautiful things in your life, you deserve the relief and peace!
oztrin@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I did! I did want to join the UWU for a number of reasons but the guy I spoke to said they wouldnât take me on with a pre existing situation so I went for the HWU⊠weâll see how it works out.
Thank you - contemplating a nice beach walk and a cakey thing, and tonight is dumplings! đ
Duenan@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Fantastic news.
How does $$$ go missing anyway and Iâm guessing they tried to blame you for it going missing?
I hope they issue an apology to you as it sounded like you werenât going through a nice time if youâre also considering joining a union for protection.
I think you should treat yourself to something delicious tonight.
StudChud@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
- Old person hides cash away
- they forget where they left it and search other places
- they decide it was the carer who stole it
- they find it later and call back to say it was found
Old people do be forgetting things lol
oztrin@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Exactly what StudSpud said, though in this case it was a little older and with health issues. And it did look like I was at least under suspicion.
Anyway apology has been extended and an Uber eats voucher has been sent, so thatâs something.
I was going out for dumplings tonight, so now I can go and enjoy myself rather than try and distract myself!

I had an accident trimming my beard last night, the length attachment fell off while using and took a huge chunk of it out. Didnât have any other option but to trim it all off. I kept the mo and some of the âsoul patchâ (had to look up what thatâs called, strange name). I havenât been cleanly trimmed like this for years, itâs an adjustment. Feeling wind on my cheeks this morning was weird and kinda nice. Maybe this was divine intervention to change it up.
bull@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâve been there. That exact scenario. My condolences đ
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
My husbandâs been growing beards lately and he canât get the trimming right near the top lip. Doesnât matter how many you tube videos heâs watched he somehow makes it look weird so he shaves it all off and the growing process starts again.
I donât care if he has a beard or not. I just donât want to see food dangling off the mo.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I used to trim my own and it looked pretty bad each time. Started going to the local barbers, and theyâre fantastic. I go every 6-8 weeks, and in between trim it myself a bit.
Theyâre worth it.
Pilk@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
As a bearded man, this happening to me would break my heart. Iâm so sorry.

I had the chance to be taken back to the op shop because there was a Led Zeppelin shirt I didnât grab. You snooze you lose, probably snapped up 30 seconds after I left by a reseller.
But I did get some Buffy dvds and some art books. I went a little ham because things are getting scrubbed from the internet and Iâm rediscovering the importance of physical media.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago

Itâs so good. I think sheâs got a slightly tender little tummy still but has started the fortiflora.
Sheâs now willing to eat her food with the regular meds mixed in which is so much less traumatic for both of us.

This has been slowly happening for a long time without fanfare. A lot of stuff you used to be able to watch on YouTube is getting more aggressive copystrikes, probably to try and push us onto cable and streaming services.
Also the Internet Archive recently lost a copyright lawsuit that means access to 50, 000 books (and movies?) was lost.
Corporations are getting more aggressive about what gatekeeping what you can access for free and taking stuff down, so a lot of people are advocating for physical backups or copies of anything important to you.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
It happens periodically. Streaming services donât hold on to things forever, and even sites like the Internet Archive (which shares free access to books) periodically has to negotiate a changing landscape of access to materials.
We do not own things we get off Netflix, or even off Steam and such. Access can be revoked

A dually there are five apps on Google play 'FOR LEMMY'
Not sure I get why?
I thought interoperability was the draw for the fediverse, but MASTODON is unable to see the lemmy daily threads.
Is Jerboa any better or does it also have limitations?stepchook@mastodon.au âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago

Ugh, I really wanted to take PT and the Skybus to the airport and save $30 on an uber but⊠in this weather, I donât trust PT to get me to the city on time, and fuck schlepping it in the wet. I got paid today, Iâm taking the uber. AND treating myself to a schnacko at the airport if I get peckish. I can take the Skybus on the way back.
Off we go! No panic and anxiety. There are some things I appreciate having a job that pays money for
Duenan@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Did you manage to get to the airport in time?
I hope you have a wonderful trip!
Weather wasnât so great and you should get there early. I was hearing on the radio all morning that there are some sort of works going on and to get there 30 mins earlier than usual.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Yep, got here about 50 minutes before boarding, plenty of time for a burrito and unwinding before I board. Iâm glad I wasnât dying of anxiety trying to will the Skybus to go faster. I actually missed my flight back to Qld because of Skybus delays way back in 2011 or so and have never trusted it sinceâŠ

Hey Centrelink, if my appointment is booked for 2:30pm, that means itâs at 2:30pm and you shouldnât call twice at 9:23 and 9:36 and get pissy that Iâm not available. âBe sure to be ready at the time itâs scheduled for.â THAT TIME ISNâT FOR FIVE HOURS GO AWAY.
Also Astro Bot is an amazing game. Strong recommend.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I always hated that whole âone rule for me and another for theeâ aspect to dealing with Câlink.
Aradina@lemmy.ml âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Itâs total horseshit.
And it was for a participation appointment thatâs literally just someone reading a participation plan Iâm already aware of and asking if I want to change anything. Itâs something I could easily do in the app and save an operator for someone trying to call.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I absolute despise catching Ubers, but sometimes itâs my only choice for a work thing.
Why the fuck do they drive with that whole âgo fast, sudden stop, go fast, sudden stopâ.
Literally makes me car sick.

Pilk@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I remember catching an Uber early morning in Paris. 130km/h speed limit to the airport, which additionally was treated as a mere suggestion. I was temporarily religious.
