Welp, time to grab the pitchforks and drive Jack to the border.

Looks good though. Itâs only when you receive it do you realise itâs been slam dunked into the bag from the other side of the room. Iâd still call it a parma if I ordered it.

Oh no. What gave they done?
Thatâs sacrilegious!
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Fucking called it!!! Sit down for for dinner last night and the mrs goes âwhat we we doing this weekend?â ânot much, why?â âWell, I got a message from (Couple I complained about yesterday) wondering if weâŠâ ânope! heck no weâre not doing that. Whatever it is, its a no from me.â She stares at me a few seconds âWhy?â âWe talked about this last weekend babe, we are NOT getting pulled into this shit! the other day was exhausting, i need some space from themâ
She goes on to admit the message was very strange and almost like we didnât have a choice in the matter. I pointed out as adults we very much do have a choice. I so saw this coming, I may not have understood it but I was apprehensive enough to bring it up yesterday I mustâve had a 6th sense.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Yeah avoid that dumpster fire. Lifeâs complex and exhausting enough without taking on other peopleâs BS. Especially if theyâre in a situation where they could do something about their drama but wonât due to reasons.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
or worse, they manufacture the bad situation on purpose and the bad situation always makes other people look bad, not themselves
i am so done with that shit
StudChud@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Your Spidey Sense was tingling for sure.
Theyâre also adults, so they need to figure themselves out. Donât burn yourself out with their shenanigans.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I love your comment from yesterday I think, âdonât burn yourself out to keep others warm.â Iâm gonna steal it.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Short answer: Yeah Nah.
Long answer: No thanks, I canât help you at the moment.

Stage one interview done, I feel like it went well. Iâll know in a day or two if I get to the in person interview which would be next week

bacon@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
bit cool next morning
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Holy fuck thatâs cold.
Wish I could explain to the cat that sheâs allowed under the doona:
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Lie on side - raise top arm and possibly knee to create cat tent with doona - she may go under and then you can possibly slowly lower the doona down over the lower half of her body.
It might be more effective with a heat source to tempt her in.
Maybe Melbcat is unusually cuddly for a cat though
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I do not like that forecast. I looked at the predications for the next week and the coldest mornings are all the ones Iâm working (which means 4am wakeup). Two days -1, one day 0, and a pleasantly warm 2 degrees for the other. There should be an extra penalty rate or allowance for early starts in below zero temperatures.
Duenan@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Holy crap. Itâs going to get down to 0?
Itâs already 5.5c here
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Miniest wants me to wake her up so she can experience that temperature. She likes it đ

Lodged my tax return this morning. Took like 5 minutes
StudChud@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
When theyâre like âyou got any investments bro? What about income from dividends? Donât know what a dividend is? Oh, just put down ânoâ then, you poor fuckâ
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâve always loved the question to the effect of, âhave you received any tips?â đ€Ł
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
On the other hand when you have to answer âyesâ it starts opening up a bunch of complicated questions to wade through. I put a small amount of money into some investment funds a couple of years ago and now I get to wade through a whole bunch of extra questions, all over tiny amounts of money. Itâs all stuff like $20 of franking credits, $2.31 in foreign investment offsets and $6 of capital gains. Iâm looking forward to hitting the age I can access Super and can just shove money in there and take it out tax free without all the hassle.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
The last time I did my tax that quickly I realised later I missed something and had to do an amendment. Turns out it meant the tax refund I had already received was higher than it should have been, so I had to repay the ATO 8c.
bull@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Modern tax return stuff is so good how it already knows about all of my dividend and interest payments etc. Most things are auto-filled but I just need to crack open my google doc I keep with my expenses I put in and keep track of purchases I can claim, whack that stuff in there, get briefly mad at how much tax I pay every year and then hit submit. Probably takes me about 10 minutes. 15 with a double-check of everything.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Itâs certainly a massive improvement on the old paper forms. The early electronic lodgements were also basically just the paper form online, all of this automatic stuff makes it so much easier.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Before I came to Australia I had this impression that tax was Awful and Complicated and A Nightmare - primarily from American media - and this was before I was old enough to have needed to file a tax return.
Only to find out itâs a total breeze here.
Duenan@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I has a quick look and plugged in some travel expenses since I started travelling off site at work and some other deductions.
This year thankfully is looking better than last yearâs estimate.
Nath@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
So, Planet Ark are trying to register an account to join aussie.zone. I would normally have rejected their application, as they are giving the vibe of âwe want to spamâ. So, I reached out to them on their contact form. I thought it possible they had a google analytics alert and noticed us discussing their products recently.
But, that was longer ago than I realised: It feels like we talked about that a few weeks ago. So now Iâm back to thinking they want to spam. Gah!
I want answers, but I donât want ads. I suppose Iâll wait to see if/how they respond to my website query.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
man I cant see a good reason why brands need to be on a social media platform of this size, thatâs just my 2 cents.
Nath@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Businesses routinely have alerts on their brands with Google. Itâs quite possible they got an email from Google that we were talking about their products. That part actually makes sense to me.
If they had applied for an account within a week or so of that discussion, and said in their application they were joining the site in response to it - Iâd have thought it completely reasonable.

Hot water bottle just woke me up cos sprang a leak. Only by now itâs a slightly warm water bottle which is a relief. And itâs only on its third year of use. Damn. TGF mattress protector. Would not be fun drying a mattress this time of year.
oztrin@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Augh. If you have a microwave, the heat discs they use to warm pet beds are very useful. LMK if you want a link.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Mattress is OK, thank the gods. Just sheets, pjs and me and this is all easy to fix. Time for a new hwb I guess.
Taleya@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I got one of those chargeable hot water bottles. Basically a giant version of those reusable hand pocket warmers. Gamechanger
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
As with so many things in life, they donât make em like they used to.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Retreating to bed cause itâs fucking freezing. Fortunately got the electric blanket on in preparation so beds nice and warm at least. Reckon Iâll leave the electric towel rail on tonight too just so donât freeze my junk off when I get up at 6am.

Got done by a lemon tree thorn a few days ago. Tiny little prick but itâs really puffed up. Headed over to Dr. google and learnt a new word:
Phytophotodermatitis, where when you get done, then expose it to UVA it flares up. Most common from lemon trees apparently.
Little fucker packs a punch. I had no idea.
I will wear gloves next time.

and hugs
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Wait until you get a rose thorn stabbing, and end up going to the doc for a penicillin injection. Which they administer with a sharpened hose pipe into your gluteus maximus. Rose thorns do gangrene really really well apparently. Learned my lesson from that experience and now wear gloves when Iâm anywhere near roses. Never knew that lemons were particularly hazardous - thanks for the info!

I go for the pre training review thingy today. They sent me the link yesterday and reiterated I had to fill out the LLN assessment prior to the PTR, so i wrote back to ask if theyâd received my assessment, and they never replied which is always a good sign.
I feel like this is a bit of a pivotal moment for me, and this is about the point Iâd start making saves if this were a gameâŠ
In other news, I was finally able to go watch that bad men movie on Sunday (3rd timeâs the charm, I guess). I enjoyed it, even though I never saw the other one(s? I think itâs a trilogy). I pieced enough of it together to still enjoy myself.

Iâve received some weird emails recently too. I bet it was that damn property expo I registered for

Such beautiful weather out today! I wish I wasnât stuck in an office for most of it. Tonight is gonna be froooosty, Iâm STOKED that I can roll outta bed late tomorrow. Have a meeting on campus at 2, plan is to try and finish all my work off by noon and quietly clock off after that. Would love to have a stroll round campus after if tomorrowâs as beautifully sunny as today.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
If you change your password, but your password manager fails to capture it did you really even change your password? According to the system? Yes, you very much did.
A password manager that doesnât capture a password is about as useful as an indicator on a BMW.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Last pass?
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
yep! Rubbish until the end hey.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
At least LastPass asks you if you want to update your password after youâve changed it.
Iâm using 1password and much prefer it. But it asks when the password is generated. What if the password field has a bunch of rules I need to follow and have to make edits after?

Moorabbin was once renowned for its springs. I am randomly trying to find them. Unfortunately I am surrounded by goddamn car repair shops so guess what fucking comes up when you search âMoorabbin springsâ so now Iâm digging at hydrogeological data for the entire port phillip bay area to find the aquifersâŠ

I am trying to space out my watching of the Bear season 3 but itâs so hard. You know the show is good when itâs a flashback episode, and you know it turns out ok, but you are still on the edge of your seat the whole time.
bull@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Why am I so tired today??
You ever wonder if youâre just tired a lot or if youâre actually Stage 3 something or other and just havenât gone to the doctor? I think I might have hypochondria.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I washed the woolen underlay I use as a dog blanket a couple of weeks ago and hung it outside to dry. I missed taking it in before rain hit so it had to stay out longer. Now I have a magpie coming in regularly to collect nesting material from it, so I guess it has to stay there now.
SituationCake@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
3 degrees here. Cold air was very sharp taking the rubbish out. I think itâs gonna get colder than the predicted low overnight. Be prepared for a very frost morning.

Gratitude thread!
Booked in for five hours of karaoke last night. I think in the last hour, I sang one song. But it was really nice to spend time with friends who I can be myself around and have fun with :) they accept my weirdness!
(Is that not the point of friendship? Some people I feel like I have to mask around more than others)
Iâm also grateful for reading the responses to these threads! :)

Iâve been listening to Chappell Roans album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and Iâm in love.
lovey mushy goo goo shite
My partner came home from work last night and started playing Stellaris while listening to the album as well. He said we should go see her if she comes to Aus. He says one of the reasons he loves me is that I never judge him for liking Pop music, and I sing along with him to Call Me Maybe lol. He knows the lyrics better than I do.
I love my Pop Boi.
