I hear thatâs a good way to get a job and a raise
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Unclear when the âget a jobâ step kicks in though.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
We should start a support group.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Create a generic cover letter/resume combo file and apply for a bunch of jobs through recruitment companies at the moment. Itâs the end of the month so theyâll all be looking to maximise their commission. Aim for jobs that have been up for close to two weeks as well, theyâll be closing soon

Itâs Mickeyâs oodie now.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâm so, so, so tired.
I think gym this morning is the reason. Itâs day 4 of 6am wake up and I think Iâm almost normal.
Iâm eating dinner, kidnapping the cat and going to bed. Goodnight all â€ïž
tombruzzo@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Keep it up and you might be able to make 6am thr regular time. Push through!
oztrin@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Poo. Still positive.
mysticgreg@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I donât think thatâs how youâre supposed to do those tests⊠:|
oztrin@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Gee, so thatâs why the swab made me wince ⊠;)
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Jeez. How long has it been?
oztrin@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Eleven days since I tested, twelve since the symptoms hit. Spoke to the nurse at my practice and she said itâs not surprising as Iâve still got symptoms, and this variant tends to linger, but if Iâm still coughing next week give them a call and theyâll reevaluate.
Baku@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Now this hotel doesnât have very good soundproofing (at this point I donât believe any building in Australia does) and I can hear everything happening in the hallway and the rooms next to me. BUT Iâve got a splitty in my room and I set it to come on if it goes under 19 and this is great. So much easier to wake up when itâs not like 5° in your room
I still couldnât get a very good sleep though. Dozed off again at 5:30 or so and woke up again now. But tonight Iâll have a better sleep
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago

Good aussie tradition that. Burn shit in a drum.

I thought it was 6:50 am tomorrow? Either burn all the bad out of the year đ„đđ„
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
6:50am is an impractical time for campfires though, I hope to be snoring đŽ
tombruzzo@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I think Iâll wear my slippers around the house all the time.
I got the kids some hot wheels cars and one is a stegosaurs. Essentially its a spike trap on wheels. Couple that with their puzzle pieces with little handles on them and there are a few nasty things to step on.
I want to avoid the very dad thing of stepping on one of the kidsâ toys at an unfortunate moment
wscholermann@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
How can people not? My feet would be freezing if I didnât even with socks!!
Baku@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I used to be very anti socks (and anti shoes too, but thatâs a different storyâŠ) and took both off the second I was inside. Then one day I was just sort of too lazy to take the socks off and wore them for about 24 hours or so and was pleasantly surprised with how nice it feels wearing socks constantly, and how warm my feet stay. Now I am only sockless for about an hour a day
I canât stand slippers though
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
My daughterâs at Coles and she texts me to ask if I want anything. So I sent a shitload of texts back in a row. Get donuts. Cinnamon donuts. Or whatever. And biscuits. Any biscuits. I donât care which ones. You want your dad to pick you up. Hello.
Catfish@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Oh joy. Notices of a rent increase and a full day power outage. Must not shoot the Postie.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Crazy tooth pain tuesday night, saw my dentist yesterday, tooth extracted (2nd one in 2 months but it had to go), today is pretty much pain free with like no soreness in my gums or jaw. Iâm glad, but also odd.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
yikes! Not ideal. I had a mate describe a root canal as the worst pain heâs ever experienced. Takes his dental hygiene VERY seriously now.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
This was going to be either a root canal (got quoted 3k for it) or a pull. I opted for the pull as itâs instant and about 1/10 of the price.
Interestingly enough, I brush twice a day, floss daily, avoid sugary shit etc. Sometimes itâs just genetic unfortunately. I inherited my dadâs crappy teeth instead of my mumâs.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I have never felt pain as bad as tooth pain. Last time I was lying down on the floor at the dentist in tears waiting to see the dentist. Fucking awful shit.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Just made myself a cup of tea and ensconced in the oodie. Back to work
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I live in mine now. It just automatically goes over the top after I dress.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
There was a kid in the ER last night with the same name as my kid. He had his hand smashed with a brick at school and he was still waiting after we left. Poor little fella was OVER it and just wanted to go to bed, hope he is ok.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ooooh, ouch
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
that could be nasty , hope he doesnât have any bad lasting injury đ
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
thats what his dad was trying to encourage him to find out. Kiddo was just cooked and wanted to crash.

Cat Blues by Lano and Woodley
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
slept really good the last couple of nights, but had an emotionally draining day yesterday. Only thing that seems to help is music. I feel like I could put my head on a pillow and sleep in 3 second.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Some kinds of music really have an effect on my brain - just allows me to settle without realising it. Itâs such a good way of reorganising the gunk
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Whilst Iâm positive about my plans for the future in general Iâm a bit apprehensive about moving house too. Itâs all the little changes, stuff like where the teaspoons are is pretty much muscle memory now, Iâve been in the same place for 18 years now so the little routines are quite ingrained. Plus I have to get used to sharing space again and all the compromises that entails. All while reassuring a cat and dog who will also be stressed by the transition.
At least by the time everything is sorted out to actually make a move it should be Spring, so I wonât have to contend with either freezing cold or boiling hot temperatures.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Plus I have to get used to sharing space again and all the compromises that entails.
Honestly it really comes down to people. The people have made for some of the best times of my life living in sharehouses. But conversely, laying on the couch and finding a condom wrapper you didnt use is NOT fun. Living with teenagers sucks.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I managed to mostly miss the sharehouse situations, other than a year in student residence. The idea of a living in a standard sharehouse fills me with horror. Iâm moving in with Mum which will make it a bit different, especially as she is starting to need help so I will over time end up taking over all the work of cooking etc. Iâve spent many years perfecting my techniques for cooking for one, now I have to cook for two, plus take into account someone elseâs preferences (and dental challenges). A sharp learning curve awaits - along with a major re-evaluation of my kitchen container collection! Hopefully she retains ability to do some cooking for as long as possible though - even if I have to partially pre-pepare meals in advance the idea of being able to go home after work to dinner underway at least occassionally definitely appeals.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
It will be fine.
Pilk@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Crazy how in the other place threads about world events get swarmed overnight when most of us are asleep. Really makes you think.
Baku@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I notice that here too, which really annoys me. I understand it a little bit more on Reddit, but it pisses me off so much when thereâs an article from abc.net.au posted in c/AustralianNews@aussie.zone and half the comments are just Americans being confused.
I guess thatâs the one positive of the week long federation delays with Lemmy World - most of the Americans are segregated into their own isolated cosm for about a week until it federates over here
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
My landlord is actually really good. House is pretty shit but heâs a really chill guy. Feel pretty lucky. I wish I could transport this place about 10kms closer to the city.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I just realised I have had my car 18 years. Am I supposed to throw it a big party or something?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Oooo. We should have a joint 18th. Take them down to the servo, fill them up. Itâll be an expensive night.
dumblederp@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
My 40yo car could chaperone.
mysticgreg@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Kick it out of the house and turn the garage/parking space into a pool room.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
if you like it? get a cut/polish and maybe a ceramic coat. Itâll last longer that way.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Considering my usual standard of care the shock from that sort of treatment might be too much for it. Maybe just a wash. Or more realistically maybe Iâll get around to brushing the cobwebs off the side mirror đ€Ł

Just cancelled my prime membership. In truth, I havenât been buying enough from Amazon to justify it, but it isnât something I think about all that often.
Then they emailed me last week saying âhey, weâll be introducing ads to Prime on July 1stâ
Yeah, nah. I canât justify that. What surprised me was though that it was moderately easy to cancel. I thought cancelling was needlessly complicated and they just got in trouble about that.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Cancelled mine immediately after they asked me to pay like $25 to view the movie I signed up to prime to watch
SituationCake@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I have had a realisation that todays kids will never experience a life where they are not under constant observation. And itâs probably willingly. Social media, tracking aps on phone from parents, data collected on their preferences for any media they engage with, smart watches that monitor movement and sleep, etc.
danwritesbooks@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Why did I book my flight for later this afternoon? Iâd be in Melbourne by now if I went early.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâve got a crusty nose. I donât know if Iâve sandpapered skin off or itâs dried smeared snot.

I bought a tomato yesterday to have on a brekkie roll but I eated it last night
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Woke up overheated. Went outside for a breath of air - there is no wind. Feels quite warm compared to yesterday.
Baku@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I went to sleep at like 7 but then woke up at 10:30 and couldnât get back to sleep. Took some melatonin, hopefully it kicks in soon.
I donât get physically home sick, but when Iâm away from home I always find it difficult to sleep. This is also the first time Iâve been at a hotel on my own as well, which adds to it
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Far out that was a long day. 10 solid hours of work, on green tea only (really not cutting it), plus a lot of faffing around with getting locked in the office building because I stayed so late⊠Itâs too early in my job to start pulling long hours. But Iâm telling myself itâs a once off due to a particular combination of unanticipated things. That, and I want to do half day on Monday for cake related reasons, so itâs Strategic. I will NOT let it be a pattern! I have Boundaries.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone âš5â© âšmonthsâ© ago
My boss is going on leave for four weeks as of today, so I asked my bosses boss of theyâll be my reference. They will, and it was pretty chill
