I got the anxieties about starting work next week. I’m trying to reframe it as “excitement”, focus on the paycheck, work my wage, it will be gooooooood. I’m fine!

Try and refame it. Its not anxiety, its your body’s ignition sequence for something you’ve never done before or haven’t for a while.
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 day ago
That is w good way to reframe it! It’s just creating adrenaline in preparation!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 day ago
yup, think of the rewards 😸

Not struggling to pay almost 2k in rent, a driver’s licence, I can buy name brand coffee again! The future is limitless

Ouch! LittleOne was lying on my chest when the auto feeder triggered. Springbok feet to the throat. Thanks shithead
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Oof! Mickey loves to sleep on my chest and then suddenly launch off my boobs at mach 5. It’s a unique sort of love but I take what I can get from the apex predator with a Napoleon complex 😂

Went for a walk. Perfect walking temperature and a nice breeze.

I’m loving these cool breezes

Running to the library to print things, and I’m remembering why I don’t run

Geez. The great ocean road hogged all the rain and we got none. I don’t think the outcome is good for either party.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 day ago
the deforestation hasn’t helped none either

That’s been a wild turn of events today!

Urgh, car wants my money. Rear main seal and brake master cylinder. Probably do the clutch while the gearbox is off too. It’s like half the value of the car.

The Ugreen charger has arrived. It has been named Bernie after the robot from Wall-e due to its mild resemblance and we need to explain to the kids it doesn’t made sounds or actually do anything.
It’s also smaller than I expected but it makes sense, it is a charger after all

I talked so much at work today I have a sore throat. Accidentally lay down on the bed when I got home and now I am stuck…must…make…dinner…

What is your ideal weather pattern?
Mine is a nice sunny 23°c day with a weekly 30°c day to dry the sheets quickly, all year round. The occasional balmy night for drinks outside. Strictly no pollen or harmful UV rays.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 1 day ago
10 degC overnight. Daytime 20 degC up to 25 degC. Fine during the day, any rain coming at night. Occasional hot day to 30 degC for laundry purposes. Wind - not bothered except that hot northerly winds should be VERBOTEN!
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Pretty much my ideal set up. I do want some rainy weekends with a max of 15, peppered in there. Cozy days for chilling on the couch.
tone212_@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Sunny days between 20 and 27.5 degrees, not too much wind. Overnight low between 10 to 15 degrees for comfortable sleeping. This year round with occasionally balmier / beach days (around 30 degrees), and some occasional rainy days for moodier times and for the gardens.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 day ago
I like just mild weather, even slightly cool. Sun is nice but I can’t handle too much
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 day ago
I like random and weather that can be challenging at times. Reminds me I am human, reminds me of the power of nature.
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Sunny days between 20°C and 25°C, with rain/storms from 11:45PM to 3.30AM. an occasional warm day of 30°C, preferrably on a Friday or Saturday as it’s nice going out when it’s warm and there’s no work the next day lol.

I have leads to follow and quoting to do!

Nothing better than actually knowing what you’re supposed to be doing at work

Lawyer consulted. I do believe a DIY solution will be taken. Fee schedule is absurd.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 day ago
If you are well organised and patient many legal tasks can be DIY.
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Agreed. The basic issue is enforceable. Since this is a hopefully never need, I think we’ve got a solution.
calhoon2005@aussie.zone 1 day ago
I know I said this recently but… Man, Arrested Development (talking about the group here, but the show is good too) is still so good. Same vibes, grooves, 90s feel - new albums sound fresh though somehow… Also reminded me of that 8tracks mixtape app. So I went to reinstall, and it’s gone…it was so good…
Looked it up, and…Citing difficulties with funding and maintaining royalty payments, 8tracks ceased its services on 31 December 2019.[5] However, on 19 April 2020, 8tracks was relaunched under the new ownership and operation of BackBeat Inc. As of December 2024, the service is inactive.
I’m disappointed.

No one has noticed my fashion faux pas of black trousers with a blue shirt. Do I keep working here because I can get away with such crimes, or do I move on because I can’t possibly work with animals such as these?
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 day ago
They’re talking behind your back.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 day ago
I knew they were talking behind my back, just like I know everyone’s saying I’m paranoid
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Hey depending on the shade of blue and the intensity of the black, it can look ok. You probably look alright!
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 day ago
They’re slightly faded black trousers so it almost looks like a dark navy. Not as bad as black leather boots with jeans instead of brown boots
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 day ago
I have no idea what’s wrong with this combination. Looks good to me.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Once you have a suit guy educate you on good drip it’s hard to unsee
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Hardly a crime at all compared to pink shirts
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Maybe a pink shirt on its own but dark blue jacket with pink shirt underneath is peak male look. I have a Suit Guy in Fairfield that advised me as such
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 day ago
You may not need another charger but look into the Ugreen Uno range of chargers/powerbanks/cables. They have screens on them to give them little robot eyes and the charger looks like a robot wearing headphones. It even comes with a magnetic prong cover that makes it look like it has shoes

This year we have a whole lot of our friend group turning 50. I don’t feel like we’re that old, although i still have a few years to get there. We also have lost a few over the way, which reminds us that advancing age can be a blessing.

What’s up with cashiers in coffee shops not listening when they ask for my order?
I wait for them to ask, I announce it loudly and clearly. They interrupt. I confirm. I go on to item two. They confirm. I confirm.
Then, they apologise and try to guess item one again. They get it wrong. I correct them. They’ve got it.
Oh yeah, what was item two? Yes, that’s right.
Also, what’s the deal with not waiting even for a split second between me saying “flat white” and “with two sugars”?
I understand that coffee shops are loud and hectic, and I might have to repeat myself once in a while, but damn Melbourne, every time?

Anyone have any tips on how to deal with this fucking halo of hair I get when I put my hair up? It’s too short for the pony tail, and too numerous and close to my scalp for clips.
I wash it every few days, with Pantene keratin shampoo and conditioner, and use the conditioner that came with my dye as well.

Boyo and I nearly had our first fight because I was keen as hell to make a pasta bake which he was gungho about until I let him know it had mushrooms in it. I still made the dish, he had toasties for dinner. The pasta bake ruled, his loss, not gonna hold it against him no matter how much he protests “I swear I just wasn’t hungry!”
Taleya@aussie.zone 12 hours ago
He shoulda pulled the fucking mushrooms out and left them for his partner like a normal person.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 21 hours ago
miss seagoon has some food can’t eats and won’t eats
I don’t cook the can’t eats and always discuss ingredients
I want eating to be a happy thing
If I like something other people can’t or won’t have I make that for a lunch for myself . No drama and I don’t miss out.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 21 hours ago
Boyo hates salmon but occasionally I’m like SALMON IS LIFE and we make it work. This is a communication issue with a 30 second delay.
Catfish@aussie.zone 22 hours ago
Mushrooms are tricky. For me the flavour is fine but the texture vile. Sometimes eating around them works, others it doesn’t.
You warned, he declined. Don’t weaponise them.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 21 hours ago
Worse comes to worst, I have another 4 servings of a meal I found delicious and he made himself his dinner so I don’t mind!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 22 hours ago
🤷♀️
he couldn’t pick the mushies out?
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 22 hours ago
Nope. And I get it, which is why I prewarned him because if he’d seen/smelt them… IDK, I guess I wish he’d just tried the dish. But I also understand why he didn’t and am glad I still had it because it was so delicious. Thank you again, Nagi!
