Miniest is on school camp and I’ve never been separated from her overnight before. I feel a bit lost tbh so I’m stretching and folding sourdough bread dough to keep me occupied. It’ll be good for her to have this time to develop as a person, but I miss her so much. She’s one of these little people that seem to fill up life. 🍞🍞🍞

Is it too late to tart part in operation UNKAOS? I just bought a new vacuum and it’s actually working vs my old one which struggled with… everything.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I love a good tart.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Don’t we all…
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
UnKAOS is going well. 👍
Eagle@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Who’s calling who a tart?

Thank you CEO for the recommendation of Gumption cleaning product.
It removed all the hair dye I got everywhere …lol

You are welcome

that’s another 3 bags of books to take to the opshop 👍
SituationCake@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Based on your reviews, I bet there’ll be some interesting finds for op shop book lovers!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
mostly antique books on 19th C grammar

I just saw a bird flying sideways. This could be the basis for a new wind strength scale…

Picked up the laybuy for the kids’ birthdays and christmas today. On the way out I went through the self serve and the camera picked up the laybuy in my trolley. So it’s good to know that tracking stuff is in use already, if I kept my trolley out of view it wouldn’t have seen the stuff still in there.

Nobody gives me HDs anymore, Wah! No I’m not insomniac and reading old papers for endorphins or some such shite. It didn’t work, but revisiting for matrix fonts is enlightening

When pushing hard means winning, peace amd quiet feel like losing. It’s been on my mind lately.
Goodnight all ❤️
SituationCake@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Interesting. I’ve always felt the opposite. Peace and quiet is winning. Constantly fighting means loosing.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 10 months ago
That had never even crossed my mind. We must come from, and live in very different circumstances.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
this is true

Waiting for the crazy weather - I’m getting more wind now but the sun’s out, it’s not too bad outside.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 10 months ago
It’s one of those things everyone seems on edge waiting for it to happen, so it feels like it’ll just fizzle out.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I was looking forward to sitting inside watching the rain. I got rained on as I was walking home then it stopped as soon as I got inside.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Wind’s a bit wild in Ballarat. There is a lot of banging and clanging from mysterious things blowing around, but my fence repair is holding up well so far. No rain, but not much sun either.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
back pain very tiring :(
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Gentle hugs 🫂 It must be very frustrating for you.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
thanks for the hug
i end up feeling guilty I have to rest :(
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Pain is exhausting. I hope there’s something to give even a little relief
Catfish@aussie.zone 10 months ago
So far it has been slightly moist. Might do some laundry.

Mmmmm, fruit toast

I had some fermentation flies take up residence in my compost bucket and kitchen, so I made a trap for them which has worked very well. I have a jar of drowned flies and haven’t seen any flying around the kitchen today. The trap is a funnel on top of a glass jar, and the bait is vinegar, sugar and yeast mixed with water.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I think you’ve just solved the mystery of what flies are in my house! Always thought they were thrips, although they didn’t exactly match. I’ve found a glass with vinegar and a few drops of dishwashing liquid to work pretty well as a trap, too
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I blame the weather for how ratty this office is today.
Though I’ve also noticed that I’m also reporting how ratty the office is, so maybe it’s just a ratty office. I’m the self appointed cheerleader though.

Happy Wombat Day everyone.

Why are the new Myki readers so awful? I’d argue them to be worse than even the first-generation readers with a bad read.
The entire device basically gets locked out on a bad read for about a minute. If your Myki doesn’t read properly, or your phone is acting up, a few retries could lock out a big chunk of the ststion gates.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 10 months ago
The whole myki contract from the first machines has been a clusterfuck awarded to the lowest bidder.
I worked for a place ages ago that had put in a bid for a decent system but the government wanted to save cash.
T156@lemmy.world 10 months ago
To think we could have almost had the Octopus system Hong Kong uses.
Pilk@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Hmm the few times I’ve used them they’ve been really quick and easy. I anticipate the barcode/QR camera or card payment for entry are going to be a colossal disaster though.
T156@lemmy.world 10 months ago
They’re nice when they work. Problem is when they don’t.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Trying to sort shit out.
Windows 11 machine is completely full so using a Mac to download the classic Linux Mint and waiting a hundred years for the iso to download so I can sha the damn thing and make a bootable thingy.
Tried to drag a bunch of files onto a 32gb usb off Windows machine to free space and keep them safe but there’s seriously not enough room so I might get an external drive just for that to have on top of backups.
Then I have to download everything off Flickr and Dropbox and make sure the last gmails get changed over on any platforms they’re still connected to (or emails they’re recoveries for).
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Yay. Welcome (back?) to the Tux team! I realised how many old photos I still have stored on Facebook the other day. I think un-cloud-ifying is going to be one of my long term projects too. So I look forward to hearing how you go.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I’m going to have to do it fast because starting from December I’m going to lose access :(
I’ve tried Linux before but not as my main. This is basically to test out and see if I can switch over for most things because I viscerally hate Windows 11
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I am impressed at your mad IT skillz
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Thanks. They’re actually extremely patchy because I’m mostly self taught, I can follow curly tutorials and use the command line with a guide but a lot of the fundamentals have been missed
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
goodnight everyone, sweet dreams

It was so windy! Great day to be in the city :)
SituationCake@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Was windy but I was expecting worse based on the warnings.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
So windy today an orchid plant was blown out of it’s pot!
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Well there goes my trip into the city.
Borderlands 2 and music it is!

I’ll have whatever Witchy wants to order for me, and Witchy can have: a walnut, apple and brie toastie with an Irish coffee
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 10 months ago
Witchy will have what SHE wants! Chef, can I please order a generous serve of humble pie for Force, with sriracha if he would like that with it, and some super sweet raspberry vinegar to go with.

The break room at work smells strongly of garlic, so now I’m craving garlic bread.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
why change BOM page, why?
SituationCake@aussie.zone 10 months ago
The radar map is different. Nooo I liked the old one.

Was late with the antibiotics so gave them right after the midnight meds… bubs threw them right back up so I gave her some anti nausea meds and repeated the dose.
Dealing with a spilled milky drink on the carpet too. -_-
I wish there was a carpet cleaner that doesn’t absolutely reek of perfume to the point they set off migraines and cause asthma attacks. I use the bacterial enzyme concentrate but that’s more for breaking down biological stuff like pee, and doesn’t do a good job of actually cleaning.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I had to stake down the strays paper plates with wooden skewers because of the wind.
Felt like McGyver lol
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 10 months ago
it’s so gusty here too
