great day for kids 🙂
melbourne_wanderer@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Have had a contemplative sunday. Am recovering from surgery, resting in bed, thinking about hiw/why I havent really spoken to my very elderly mother in years. Is this the painkillers talking, or sensibility?
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
so many hugs
hope you get better real soon 😘😘😘
melbourne_wanderer@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
that’s the problem - I’m not sure who’s not talking to whom/who is drawing (in)appropriate boundaries. But thank you for your well wishes - much appreciated
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
walked home along the beach
the colours were so beautiful
I love the rocks under the waves at high tide, this is where I usually go for walks
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I love this beach life for you SO much. Thank you for sharing it!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
thanks, I’m just 200m to sand and water, it’s nice , very accessible
I go at night too, to see the lights around the bay , the ships are all lit up and I can see more than a few stars
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I’m in the landlocked northern suburbs and am loving the beach pics, too

Now for the drive back to Melbourne. The boys are feeling better so I hope it’s better than the trip away

Spent the night playing guitar, and it was worth it. The new pedal is absolutely incredible! Managed to write a new song for open mic in a few weeks. Was it worth the insane price? I tell myself: yes! Yes it was!
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
How many hours are you getting out of it? X$ might seem large to begin with but compare it to any one time fun cost like cinema and I’ll bet you’re well ahead
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
That’s a great point! It cost 33 movie tickets and I’ve already gotten 15 movies worth out of it lol
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
this is the way
I find estimating cost on a per day basis to be a good way to think of big expenses
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Glad the pedal is working out!
I always amortise the cost / use in my head for big ticket studio stuff. Makes me feel better and helps me sleep.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
That’s a great way to deal with it lol
I mean, at least I’m making something with it that gives me emotional catharsis then it’s worth it.
Even though it’s only 2 effects, the algos are incredible and many have multiple effects in one which helps.
I have one more on layby:
Wmd geiger counter pro. Look it up man. It’s insane lol

If sunday isn’t for sitting in bed, reading and napping then when is?

Damn, every time I leave this place I delete the memory of how disgustingly huge cockroaches get, and then every time I come back I get a rude shock. 🤢 Loathsome creatures…
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
And the white stuff that comes out when you thwack it with your thong shudders
just_kitten@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
My mum is vehemently anti-killing to the point that she won’t even relocate bugs off her treasured curry leaf plants that are constantly under attack - I’ve never seen the insides of a roach and don’t think I’m in a rush to 😬
At my old place I’d catch them under a cup and throw them outside. My mum puts kitchen gloves on and grabs them just like that which freaked me out massively as a child and as an adult
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
In Sydney I had ones that had been poisoned so many times they stopped dying and grew curly wings 🤮
dumblederp@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
My friends had ones that learned to run upright on their back legs to keep the poison offa their mouth-hand-legs.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Oh god, flying cockroaches are the end boss nightmare. Ewwwwwww
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Reminds me of Super Mario Bros where there are those flying squirrel things

Calling it an early night here. I’m going to try and switch back to Melbourne time as much as I can. Didn’t get any work done today and started noticing my historic irritations with my mum creeping in as she’s getting better, don’t need that polluting my mindspace and going back to teenage memories, so an early retreat and an early start tomorrow where I can focus on what I need to get done for the life I have back home.

Medical
I need to take phosphate supplements due to my levels being very low post iron infusion and having now dropped further which is a risk to my heart. But they’ve given me supplements with artificial sweeteners which I don’t tolerate. I’m seriously struggling with being able to take them. The resulting stomach upset is wasting fluid I can’t afford to lose (dehydration) and causing extra pain but at the same time I can feel something definitely is wrong. I do need to replace the phosphates. I’m really weak, dizzy, and dropping things from my numb hands. I’ve been searching for any alternatives and rung a support worker who is going to check out some possible options. If I can’t take them by mouth it will have to be done via iv which means hospital. I’m hoping I’ll be able to access it through an urgent care or a privately paid service but maybe not.
Taleya@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
You absolutely can get tabs without sweeteners, was on them during chemo. Also fizzy berocca-like form. Speak to your pharmacist.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I have the fizzy tabs - they contain aspartame and are causing issues that mean I can’t manage the amount and frequency. I’m trying to get hold of my doctor via email and will call tomorrow seeking an alternative
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
so many hugs
do you have anyway to relax after taking your tabs? A tv show which completely distracts you? Something to take your mind off the discomfort?
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
It doesn’t really work like that. I try but it causes diarrhoea that depletes my fluids when I already struggle with dehydration and kept landing in the er for iv fluids.
I’m sorting other solutions because this one is not working
just_kitten@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Man, I’m so exhausted after a 3 hour cooking marathon (not including half an hour of popping over to the shops) plus another hour of cleaning up. But I think we are good for food now for the next 3-4 days. Taken me a while to recover but now I feel ready to at least start writing some work to-do stuff down… If I’m lucky I’ll get some things done today.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I’ve worked hard today. I’ve had 5 coffees and roughly 99 trips to the dunny and I’ve discovered a new nerve located close to my hip that likes to give me a zap every now and again which is fucking fun.
Drbreen@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
I’ve had that for years now, so annoying.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
there’s a nerve in that general area that when it zaps takes my breath away
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Hot cross buns are fine but my fav Easter treat is the Greek almond crescent shortbreads. So good with a cuppa.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I have finally finished my sofa. I finished the cushions a while ago (although it took a long time, all those long edges take forever to sew) and today did the webbing to replace the springs. It took quite a long time and used a lot of staples. Sitting on the couch properly instead of sunken in with the old squashed cushions and stretched springs should be good for my back.
I expected Miss Meow to get freaked out by the noise of the staple gun but it didn’t seem to bother her. She even came over and walked all over the webbing midway. Now that it is finished she has indulged in some zoomies, attacked the end of a roll of tape I haven’t yet put away, and is now holding on to a small piece of tape she just captured with a dramatic pounce. Who would have thought she was into upholstery?
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Are we going to get pictures? 🙂

Doing some work on a Sunday (boo) - client issue came up just before the long weekend and needed the calm of a weekend day to work through it. Email prepped and ready to send out tomorrow morning. Now I can relax.

Final day of Cyclethon and Pokemon Community Day! Yay! I know I’ll cry when they cross the finish line.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Packing continues today. I have “packed” my strawberries into new tubs, all divided up, topped up with soil and a new layer of mulch on top.
I’ve got 5 or 6 more big rectangular tubs (the old recycling tubs, for those who remember the pre-wheelie days) and a bunch of pots to put other things into. It’s the perfect time of year to be moving plants, which is why I chose now to move. I just need to find somewhere to move to…

This cold is kicking my ass 💀 I’m so tired
The cat was curled up inside my oodie on the couch, and I just said to my partner “don’t sit there, Mickey is under there”. As soon as I said that, Mickey was all “ma-eo”, promptly exited said oodie.
The apes cannot be right in this household, only the feline is correct - Mickey, probably
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Hmm, contents insurance is due and the premium is up 20%. Ran it through their online calculator for the same details and it’s only up 10%. Absolutely shameless.
Annoyingly my policy expires 4 days before my planned moving date.

Round 4 paint stripper. Wheee!
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Is this the first puffer jacket day ?? I do need to venture to the outside
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Fashion advice : banana print oodie, striped pj pants and ugg boots. Just because you recognize the existence of the outside, that does not mean that you necessarily endorse it.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Good advice indeed. Unfortunately I have now showered and washed that tangle on my head (turns out there was hair in there) and so I shall pretend for a few hours to be a member of society (have my floppy comfy jeans on though)

The quiz you’ve all been waiting for
25/50 Prince Phillip - who knew?
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
TIL I had the same cot style as Prince Phillip when I was a baby. I’m practically royalty 🤣

Hsp on the way!
My diet for the last year has been:
Oats and fruit plus decaf for breakfast
2 protein shakes for lunch
Bowl of veggies for snack
Chicken of some variety for dinner
(with occasional pizza)
Fruit for snack before bed.
I need grease. A lot of grease lol
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
that’s a great diet
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Cheers!
I know it’s very boring, but I actually don’t mind eating the same thing all the time. I still go out to dinner and get takeout sometimes but I just feel better (mentally as well) when I’m eating fairly clean.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I got an Amazon parcel today with my name and address, but I did not place the order. It had a $20 Shrek picture storybook in it. I’m going to assume it’s a joke birthday present from one of my silly friends, but a tiny part of me wonders if it’s someone from my past trying to call me an ogre.

It’s evenly matched but, they also snuggle together occasionally

White sox needs to learn if you’re gonna give a left jab then you need to protect the face with the right. Black sox could give a couple of hooks and upper cuts and white sox would be down on the canvas.
