MissGod has completed the work experience week at the police station and courthouse. None of it super exciting but has made quite a few acquaintances with the local constabulary.

That’s probably the single most useful thing anyone can do on work experience. That is, learning that cops are people too (off duty). Police stations and courthouses is where the rubber meets the road in terms of peopleology too.

Couldn’t have said it better myself

Miss Meow decided to check if I was awake with a claw to the nose. There was blood.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I’m glad Gibson just decided to randomly lay on my feet lol
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I wake up to paws dabs of face or two cat faces staring into mine from a very close distance
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Normally I get a gentle paw touch to the face, followed by sitting on me and purring loudly into my ear. Not sure why a claw came out today but I was not impressed.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Well, first week is over.
Pretty tired but not in a bad way necessarily. Will be nice to have some time to just relax tonight and not be on a timer.
Have a few errands to run then it’s home sweet home.
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
How did it all go at work?
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
So far so good. Exhausted. Just staying awake long enough to eat dinner pretty much.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I am now feeding a total of 7 cats.
I don’t know how to feel lol
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
like a feeder of 7 cats 🫥
my biggest number was 11 cats but a lot of those were kittens
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
That is a loooooot of kittens. So much chaos and mischief lol
I have become a cat gentleman it seems. So be it. As long as they’re fed I’m happy :)
SituationCake@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Any luck finding a rescue organisation that could rehome them? The 11 could turn into 50 very quickly if the cats are not desexed. Cats can become pregnant very young.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Only 1 bothered to respond to my query. They said to try again in 2 weeks.
Another responded and said call the council.
No way. They’ll euthanise them. Better they stay strays than that.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Bit rough out there.
So jumping in soon for the sunset swim. I believe this might be the arse end of the weather system / swell that hit the east coast a few days ago. Sometimes goes over that wall but like that not often.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
That’s so cool and totally different to where I am. There’s a coral reef off the beach and rocks here and the water is always very calm.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Be careful! (Sorry, couldn’t help it)

As beach pictures are popular here I thought I should share a photo from my once-in-a-decade trip to the ocean the other day.

My biggest client decided to call for a Friday late afternoon pow-wow which has properly fried my brain. Ready to check out mentally for the weekend. This week was a lot for some reason.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
the little back yard is full of bird nests
I suppose that helps explain why there are so many birds around 🙂

Can you put moisture sensors in the soil that can talk to a tap timer?
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Yea with this controller you can. Can also get it to talk to a weather station and the BoM. But sometimes you have to take a step back and think hrmm… ‘will I fuck that up’ and for me the answer is ‘most likely’.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 year ago

I imagine there won’t be many people in the office today.
Guys that’s handing over created a confluence page with all the info I need. Turns out we pretty much have 1 week to handover.
The CEO and my line manager came and apologised to me about the situation and said he basically blind sided them with his resignation as he was supposed to move departments.
I appreciated that. They’ve also been completely transparent with their financials, which I’ve never experienced before.
Let’s see how things play out.
Enjoy your day everyone :)

the difference between a good place and a bad place is so obvious once you experience it
this is really good , you need this and you got this 🙂

TW pain
Physical pain is taking over my life. I’m spending nearly every day running out the hot water in the shower to the point of mildly scalding myself and stacking paracetamol with ibuprofen just to try and get some relief. I’m starting to strongly suspect endometriosis or adenomyosis on top of everything else because I’m in agony weeks before my period even starts. Also two of my sisters are diagnosed now
just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 year ago
What a perfect little day. My uni meeting got cancelled and the ground floor unit had really loud renovations; I just had to get out of there…
today's jaunt
…so first I drove to Carlton North, picked up some lovely pastries, and took them to the office on my day off to share with the few people around for morning tea. This was incredibly well-received. Then made impromptu plans to go to the Yayoi Kusama exhibition with a friend who left work early. Got in at 1:45pm. It was better than I thought (I didn’t think much of her pop art and I hate queues and hype but the crowd was not too bad; honestly I preferred her older stuff and I definitely liked that I could see the evolution towards her current style. I appreciate it a lot more now). Then we went to Yamamoto Udon near Paramount Food Court - exquisitely chilled-out and relaxing between 4-5pm - I had a prawn curry bisque udon and a very yummy Sino-Japanese style squid side dish. My friend got sliced scallops (?) with garlic shoots. All very delicious and the hot and hearty udon was just what I needed on a cold day. Image Image And then we decided on the spot to go watch The Cats of Gokogu Shrine at Kino where, just my luck, it was happy hour. One $6 glass of Shiraz and a super relaxing/healing movie later, I am on the tram home. My cup is nice and full. ☺️
… Good thing I have absolutely nothing planned for the weekend, guess now that I’ve had such a beautiful day I’ll have enough in the tank to crack on with a bit of uni desktop work and chores.

I just finished the first High School Musical movie. I don’t know why the franchise became one of my obsessions as a kid, but there we go.

Am in possession of News ™ of the unpleasant kind. Attending somebody else’s event on my birthday just got a whole bunch more complicated. Drunk and rocking in the corner it is.

Woke up in the middle of the night last night and wasn’t asleep after 15 minutes due to thoughts, so I put on an audiobook. Two hours later, I was asleep again but brain did not work. I collected worksheets from a couple of students and then two minutes later, I went over to them again asking for their worksheets. Boo

Mount Dishmore is getting impressive again… it’s all “soaking”.
I just remembered something though. You can’t use normal dishwashing liquid in a dishwasher (especially a mini one) because excessive foam can damage the machine. But somewhere recommended putting baking soda in the dispenser with 2 drops of dish soap. Maybe I could get away with using one.
I also know that vinegar reduces foaming (with a risk of damaging rubber pipes or seals if it sits).
It’s worth a shot. I already know I’m not getting a refund and the work of trying to manually scrub and rinse the strong soap off everything afterwards means it’s sitting unused.

Mystery pakidge… details went to my work email, but had attempted delivery at home… very strange. Waiting for it to land at the post office so I can collect. Also waiting on delivery of new keyboard which will make life easier as this one is playing some wonderful tricks while dying.
