  Opinions wanted.

  I’m looking to live right by the seaside but it’s hard to get a place.

  Is it better to get a bit of a shitty place in a wonderful location ( the place I’m in now is a disgrace so it’s not like I would be going from a good place to a dump, I’m already in a dump )

  or a better place in a worse location?

  I reckon I can fix up a place to be more comfortable but I can’t actually move a house to a better location.

    Assuming it’s not going to be a big or expensive problem I’d prefer a slightly crummy place than a bad area. You can fix up a bad place but there’s not a lot you can do about the area and a bad one will wear on you.

    Also if you resold someone would likely want that area regardless of the house’s condition.

    I also reckon go for a preferred location, as long as the house repairs would be manageable. It would be a nicer environment to live in and also better resale value in case you decide to move

  Knackered after a 7am start and lots of driving but at least I was up where the air is fresh and the views are scenic. I feel kind of bleah coming back to the city after all that. Oh well. At least I got to escape too much tedious talk in the office before coming home.

  Gonna make a mushroom and pea curry tonight thickened with blitzed, soaked cashews… and use all the implements I need, for I do not need to hand wash most of them💃 yayayayay

    Must have been a gift … I think it’s a cheese ball platter thingie. Verra verra kitsch. Almost worth keeping to put on the table for your kid’s 21st. Could raise a bit of $$ on ebay though - kitsch of this order is a thing.

    If Aldi ‘brands’ look like the well-known brands, then there’s a massive chance they are actually made by the same company. So Aldi ‘shorps’ should be ‘shapes’ regardless. :)

    Any dim sim is worth consuming! From the frozen supermarket ones, to the fish & chip ones that make ya fart!

      I’m going to be buying frozen ones but i’ll need to restock after I go through what I have my freezer for the next few days, I guess I was more curious than anything.

      Guess I’ll find out about the shapes, if they’re the same then I think the seasoning will be slim pickings.

  My mum sent me a video where they described a study that found that ADHD symptoms improved when parents stopped giving their kids food with red food dye in it. I consulted the literature and couldn’t find the aforementioned study, but some studies say there is a link, but still lots of unknowns.

  I wish she didn’t take health advice from random people on the internet. The psychiatrist they mentioned in the study is known to be a bit of a snake oil physician.

    Also, ‘red food colouring’ differs between countries/jurisdictions. What counts as ‘red food colouring’ in the USA and South America for example, is banned in Europe and Australia as being mildly carcinogenic. This happened back in the 1980s. Here we use a different compound for the purpose - eg annatto. So where and when was the original study done? Essential to know exactly WHICH red food colouring is the potential culprit. Also yellow food dye is similar situation. Was that in the original study???
    Actually I think I know that study - it’s fairly famous for being deeply flawed in it’s methodology and interpretation of results. It also pre-dates the numerical code for additives that we see on labels nowadays. So it’s hard to actually compare to modern products however processed in this country.

    Oh man, what a blast from the past. My cousins got banned from red food dye back in the 80s and early 90s. One of them makes a point to down a bottle of red cordial when his mum visits just to rub it in her face lol.

  Sigh. The zucchinis never did go wild like I hoped. So far I got 4 fruits from 4 plants which I gave to a friend. I wish there had been more to donate to the community pantry.

  The issue of course is limited money and space which meant planting them in salvaged pots that were too small, and limited energy/ability leading to not enough fertiliser applications.

  I’m still going on that string bag but can’t seem to concentrate enough to get into an automatic groove.

  Poor Melbcat cringed sideways into an avoidant curl and stayed frozen like that when she saw the meds coming. Even for a good minute when I got back up to get the food chaser I’d forgotten.

  It’s both funny and sad. I wish I could explain why I was doing this. And that the meds cocktail is getting so large because I can’t be sure she’ll eat medicated food. If she doesn’t reliably eat the wet food even the tasteless stuff has to be added to the oral syringe

    chat to your vet, we found the best way for Punky was to soak his thyroid meds in sour cream or tuna juice. Mix it up and they’re yomping it off the spoon, no stress and a delicious treat.

    I did become a ninja at the vit B shots though

      It’s hard because she’s a bit queasy from antibiotics and the blood pressure meds.

      I use a lot of yummy toppings to try and get her to eat (nutritional yeast, baby food, cracker crumbs, plain natural Greek yogurt etc) but it all comes down to whether she’s feeling up to wet food.

      She’s still steadily eating the dry food though so at least she’s eating.

      Yeah the B12… I’ve awkwardly given one shot under vet supervision but it’s hard with my hands

  Okay, I bought a $30 rotary tool from ebay (including among other things a few drill bits and a cutting disc) and then a 60L outdoor bin with lid from the big green shed.

  I wanted a proper drill but to be honest I won’t be able to tackle jobs big enough to need one. This little battery operated tool will probably be more than enough for anything I get up to.

  My physical health is still not great so I don’t know if I can handle maintaining a compost bin but let’s see? I want to tidy up my yard but a green bin would likely be vandalised or stolen. Worst case scenario I could just list the compost bin on Gumtree with or without the contents.

    The really important bit about compost is to add at least as much dry carbon matter (autumn leaves, hay, dried lawn clippings, shredded cardboard, shredded newspaper) as wet vegetable scraps. Tea bags/coffee grounds are sorta in between. There are whole tomes of info on doing compost but it’s pretty foolproof if you keep the dry/wet ratios about equal with the dry predominating. I would also recommend getting a bag of worms to put in the compost cos they do wonders to keep the compost non-smelly. And a longish stick/fork to stir up the layers occasionally to keep it properly aerated and cooking away. I use a very old 3 prong hoe with a shortish handle to do this in mine. Once a compost bin/heap is cooking away merrily, it can cope with almost anything that was once alive. Including all the stuff that they say you can’t put in it such as citrus peel and meat bones and avocado stones and eggshells. I once put an old pair of jeans in my heap, and there wasn’t anything left of them except the buttons & rivets a year later.

      Oh there will be plenty of dry leaves and shredded paper, also dried or fresh grass clippings. I actually won’t have many wet vegie scraps or fresh stuff which might be an issue.

      Worms sound good but I’m afraid to kill them through neglect by letting them dry out. And not enough edible vegie stuff.

      I have a garden fork if that works?

      Also is there a way to keep it warm enough over winter that it keeps cooking?

    Just a heads up with exetel. Their billing system has bugs. They’re chasing me for bills I actually paid. Going to have to put the ombudsman onto them. Their billing team is very hostile. Aussie broadband is more expensive but has better support.

  Gentleman thief manipulates a woman who thinks she’s smarter than that but isn’t to fall in love with him

  camera work and editing is just beautiful, I would say to show the differing states of mind of the two main characters

  fast paced and multifaceted contrasted with slow and mushy
