Shut up. I thought I was the only Aussie with a falafel contraption. Twinsies.
Taleya@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Nah, that’s a classic breville jaffle maker.
We do have a quisadilla press tho

It’s…
Beautiful 🥹
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
For a little guess what, what do you think this is for and what’s it called? No googling!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
olive dish
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
It is for olives, you clever women but it has a name. Fun fact: it was given to me as a birthday present. I had no clue what it was until the giver told me.
Baku@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Wrong answer: M&M “shot” tuber! Load your M&M’s in, then down it as fast as possible!
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Never thought of that! Maltesers would go a treat in there! Thank you.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Baguette server? For slices of garlic bread.
Or a shoe horn.CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
No.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Do tell us the answer (in a spoiler please)
Catfish@aussie.zone 11 months ago
It looks like a shoehorn, but that would be absurd. For deseeding something specific?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Ok. This thing is for olives and is called an olive boat and I was as stumped as you were when I received it. There you go.

Cheers hot bods 🍺
Ps. I did the best I could. Not happy with my Asian utensils being with my beaters, it’ll do for now but there will be more evictions.

Impressed. Mine take up at least 2 drawers, and the least use stuff in a separate box in a cupboard.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Oh there’s still a small box of shit to go through. I gave up. Tossed it in the box for another time.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I have kitchen drawer envy right now.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Hahaha. I was too embarrassed to do a before pic.

Has anyone else walked through 101 Collins Street before? I swear you could set a Kubrick inspired horror movie in that foyer alone
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Yep. Know it well. For a while, the State Revenue Office had it’s customer service centre there (alas no longer extant). Went there a lot. Personally, I’d choose this spot to bury a few pharoahs for future reference.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 11 months ago
One thing I noticed today is the pillars don’t actually connect to the ceiling. They go most of the way up then just stop. Purely ornamental
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Yes, I used to do corporate catering for Macquarie Bank, many moons ago now. The foyer a massive cavernous space with marble from arsehole to breakfast time as I recall.
dumblederp@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I think the start of Hercules Returns is shot there.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 11 months ago
That looks like it. They could have just set up a boardroom table next to the lifts
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 11 months ago
In my dreams I got a half leg tattoo. A portrait of Stephen King surrounded by his most famous literary characters.
On my arm, I got a rosary beads encircling some indiscernible text or logo. I remember feeling quite pleased with the work.
I spent the remainder of my dream being hunted down by Nazis.
Catfish@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I had a post apocalyptic thing that included grinding people into mince with some of wand appliance. It made a very unpleasant sound.

Squishy wand of dread
Eagle@aussie.zone 11 months ago
The owner maybe?!
just_kitten@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I haven’t had any vivid dreams for a while, I envy yours

Feeling dreadful. Have called in sick
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Welcome to the DT sick club. I hope you will be a member for as short a time as possible.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Hope you feel better soon. Maybe do a RAT just to be sure if you haven’t already.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Not that kind of ick. I’ve et something that hasn’t agreed with me
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Cats and birds seem to like me lately.
The maggies started following me today, not in a hostile way but because I wiggled my fingers in a wave and they thought I might be throwing food. (I no longer feed them, only did it a few times initially so they would learn not to swoop me. I now only give them water.) They were single mindedly waddling and hopping along after me on foot, and then flying between telephone lines and trees to keep tabs on me. Thought I was going to get mugged. And a ginger cat came out meowing for attention, smooching and doing roly polys. (I showered and washed clothes as soon as I got home in case of any cat illnesses spreading to my own sick elderly girl and also so she wouldn’t smell them.) It’s good, I can use a boost. Melbcat is a little less enthusiastic about being loved on right now because I’m making her take her antibiotics but she’s a good sport and still snuggling and spooning with me (and only taking occasional revenge).
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 11 months ago
You might be entering your Disney Princess Era. Look out for mice sewing ballgowns.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
and it’s not easy
the birds now want to come into my home to sit on me
if they see me in the streets they will fly to me
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I was more hoping for forest hag. 🤔

my mum is a neat freak and I am a mess but not as messy as I would be if I didn't have a mother who very much likes neat and tidy

TinyBreak@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Ah good another ocular migraine. Love this!!!
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Ew. Migraines can suck a dick, especially the ‘fancier’ types- I occasionally get vestibular or hemiplegic. So much worse than the common-or-garden variety, and those are quite bad enough.
I hope you get some relief soon.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I’m very lucky that I don’t seem to get it as bad as other folks, my only symptoms (so far) are only ocular. Still, wouldn’t rate the experince.
Baku@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Crikey, I don’t know what it is about today, but I’m so much sweater than yesterday. I almost turned on the air con, but the temp is finally dropping a bit now so the windows will very slowly cool it down a bit
StudChud@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Yep. I’ve been a sweaty mess all damn day. Like just dripping. I have a cool wet towel to dab it up and have been guzzling water like a hydro-slut. Maybe it’s the humidity?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I won gin rummy. 5 to 2. Second complementary cuppa in the morning coming to me.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Ah man, I think I need to stop commenting on anything divisive on the internet.
I’ll post something that’s intended to be a fun fact or a conversational tidbit (or a smartarse little joke to get a laugh) and someone will take it really seriously. Like they think it’s an endorsement or a challenge or something.
It really isn’t. I’ve definitely got my own views on things but I’m mostly just interested in hanging out and chiming in with something vaguely related
Baku@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Ditto
I find it much worse on Reddit, but even here there’s a fair few people who like to be intentionally obtuse
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I get so excited to share a cool fact that I don’t realise how it comes across

5090 GPUs almost here… New gaming rig time?
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Anyone got any kitchen/cabinetry people they’ve worked with in the past and liked? All the edging on my cabinets is stained yellow and some of its starting to come unglued. Between that, some very minor water issues and a bit of rust in the oven i’m pondering if its worth a small touch up, or if I need to start saving up to gut it and start over.
Dont think I can keep chipping away and these minor issues 1 by 1.
Catfish@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Avoid Kaboodle. I’ll ask Boyo for the name of the good mob.
stevied71@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I tried to pop into Troika Bar yesterday, but it was closed. I’ve been away for the last month and I’m hoping that it’s closed just for the Xmas break, but through the window I noticed that all the silver mylar/foil was torn down.
Anyone know what the deal is?

tombruzzo@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I watched a video on this modern pc that runs Windows 98, but it’s like 500 Euros.
Then I looked up how to install windows 98 on an old thinclient. But it’s complicated and you could lose Bluetooth, WiFi, and USB ports.
If you want a computer for authentic retro gaming you could put WINE on a cheap thin client since WINE runs old programs better than windows
Pilk@aussie.zone 11 months ago
All I’ll say is if you run a Bluesky account for an entomological society and your posts aren’t 90% awesome macro shots of cool insects then you are very much doing it wrong.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
While Miss Seagoon was here on holiday she did a lot of reading. One book was of the lovely edition of The Hobbit i got her. She really liked it but she had questions about Tauriel, Kili and Legolas . It was very fraught. 😬
“It’s world building”
“It’s a prequel to the lotr movies”
“To round out the characters and to also demonstrate the prejudices around relationships between dwarves and elves”

My melatonin is coming from South Korea this time. That’s interesting. Usually it comes from California. This time it came from Incheon, SK, and they’ve flown it over to Perris CA, US, just to fly it to Australia. Seems like it would’ve been more efficient to just make it go Vroom Vroom from SK to AU
I also ordered something from JB which is coming through “Australia Post Metro Services”, which I’ve never heard of. Looks like it’s basically just express post but they deliver on Saturdays and they pick it up from the sender rather than the sender dropping it off. JB reckons it will arrive tomorrow. Auspost reckons Monday. It’s currently in Somerton, after having been posted from Thomastown. Bets are now open: will it arrive tomorrow, or Monday?
