The second round of Weather has coincided with the thankful resolution of 2 hours of panicking over losing my phone and retracing my steps a billion times.
Fittingly, it turns out my phone was lodged in my umbrella… I must’ve dropped it in there when I left it loosely open and upside down while going to the bathroom or something.
that was a very stressful 2 hours though fuck me.

And there’s a Wattle Festival on in Hurstbridge today. We’re planning on that being our morning thing so I better make sure the family are stocked up onantihistamines
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I read that as Waffle festival and was very excited for a moment. I definitely need to have breakfast.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Honestly, why isn’t there a waffle festival? You can do so much with them
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Good morning

A big thank you to @dumblederp@aussie.zone for hooking me up with an optiplex. It started without a problem and I’ve got it running how I want it to now.
Time to check out some of the selfhosting communities and see what I can do with this thing
dumblederp@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Glad to see it getting some use.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Oh bloody hello the one time I am away for work and I miss all the spring storm excitement. Got lots of cool C emergency notifications though
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I had roast pork for dinner and it was amazing. There is just something special about a good roast.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
So worth the effort. :)
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Japanese curry complete. Food time!
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Looks like the cbd and the inner east copped it. Only minor here in Thornbury. Rain yes, no hail and not much thunder.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I think the dramatic purple section passed a bit to the south of me (outer east). There was lots of dramatic flashes and ominus rumbling but nothing too bad. Maybe getting out the emergency torch etc. warded it off.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
It was good times from my apartment

Hoping this storm is an epic one! On a related topic, what happens to Pokemon when theyre inside Pokeballs? Was it ever addressed cannonically? Are they stuck in there like a tiny prison cell, unable to move around or find comfort? Are they put to sleep or induced coma or something? Id like to know
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Can vegans play Pokemon??
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I hadn’t thought of that before. Wow.
just_kitten@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
No lie, my mother actually tried to ban me from playing/watching Pokemon when I was growing up as she thought it was animal cruelty, on the basis of getting them to fight but also trapping them in little balls
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago

Skies are dark but I’m getting no action yet. A red blob on the radar is making a bee line for my suburb but we’ll see.

5 hours on PT today to see a doctor.
I’m getting myself a cheap car in a few months if everything goes well. Been so fucking long since I’ve driven. Might need some lessons I think.
Cendana@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Or a small motorcycle/scooter if you don’t go anywhere far.
Before covid, did daily round trips CBD-Camberwell. Fuel, insurance, maintenance all up is about the same as a monthly Myki pass.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Hmm. Maybe a postie bike spray painted black would do…
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
It’s started steadily raining now. No sign of thunders yet. I’ll keep youse updated.
Duenan@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Eep. That’s a lot of colour on the radar.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I’m waiting for the rain so I can go for a walk. Fucking love walking in the rain
Cendana@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Another protest in the city.
But the one thing that caught my eye is the number of Toyota Klugers in the police fleet lined up on the street. And then there’s us having to wait months maybe years for a delivery lol.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
What was the protest for?
Cendana@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Israel and Palestine war. Didn’t pay attention to which side it was though, wife and I both starving so we moved quickly.
Aradina@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
Free Palestine rally

Think they’ll bail when the rain comes?

I have made a 2nd instant coffee!
Pray for me!
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I drink too much coffee and have done for years. But I also drink a shit tonne of green and other teas in the probably misguided belief that I’m balancing it out health wise. You get used to it after a while. When I was a barista people used to ask how many coffees I had per day and I had no idea lol.
Duenan@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I do drink a lot of coffee normally. Up to 3 or 4 instants on a work day.
On a weekend it’s one brewed moka pot in a large mug. Sometimes two.
Today it’s just 2 instants and fairly early so I should be ok.
Thankfully I don’t suffer from withdrawals.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Market shop great success. I have veg for the week, salami, meat for the week, raspberry tea (love you Polish Shop), dumplings, tortellini and fresh library books.
The guy who runs the Wesh van must really like me. He gave me free mint tea with my lunch
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
"… dumplings, tortellini… "
In English it’s incorrect to list these two like that. Tortellini falls into a subset of ‘dumplings’, so either don’t include it, or specify which other types of dumplings you got as well as the tortellini.CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Ask your new co-workers tomorrow what they think of this. Report back.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Mmmm, pedantry. 😁
Veal tortellini and chicken and shiitake dumplings, listed separately because my ramen’s going to be very weird if I mix them up

Movie Review. Man with the Golden Gun. 1974 Bond Movie.
So boring I feel insulted. Not even Saruman could save this movie.
Sometimes the only reason to pay some attention to these movies is to see what was the fad at the time, in that movie it was king fu, and the gadgets, which at that time would have been really whiz bang and ahead of their time.
lol, in Live and Let Die 1973, bond had a digital watch, it had a red LED display , a few years before the general public had even heard of digital watches
2 hobbits because fiji is pretty
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
The Hamilton Pulsar P2 2900. Very cool watch but also unusual, in that, Bond traditionally wears Omega or Rolex.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I is observant if anything. 👍
Aradina@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
The old bond movies mostly suck. And that’s ignoring the really awful stuff in them like the yellow face in Dr. No or the sexual assault in… Well a lot of them.
I enjoy the Timothy Dalton ones though.
