Missing my old Macintosh 512K from 1984 with second external disk drive, in perfect working condition. That I now want to tinker with bad, especially now that there are great storage/communications options that can be built for them.

My dad bought a certain brand of keyboard for music, and heâs accumulated many different ones now. I cannot remember the brand/model, but he sold it before I was born and kicks himself for it because 1) itâs worth a lot now, and 2) he said it made the best sound and his current ones donât come close.

70s/80s audio electronics were so much better, completely agree.
I luckily DO have my dadâs old hifi setup, the sound is just -chefâs kiss-
On the upside, emulators exist any I still can play Dark Castle and Fools Errand.
As fun as retro computing and gaming is, Iâve found emulation to fulfill that itch for a more reasonable price.
I use Qemu/KVM with virt-manager, Iâm currently playing with Windows XP and trying to get games like AOE2, Warcraft3, etc running on it. Eventually I may get an old white LCD 4:3 monitor.
Retro handhelds like the Miyoo Mini Plus, Anbernic RG35XX-H & Trimui Smart Pro are cheap and fun portable retro game handhelds, they are becoming very popular and the firmware mods are getting better.
Yeah Iâm also well into emulation. VICE for commodore stuff, and omg how good is exodos! WinUAE for Amiga. I still long for the actual hardware though, Iâve got an old DOS machine and love it, though even that is still a bit too ânewâ (itâs a PII)
My husband had an IBM Original 286 that he still reminisces about to this day.
Friend of mine had an Amstrad, I remember it being wiiiiide. Nice machine though!
Iâm really tired of the enshitification of clothes. You used to be able to wear, wash, even tumble dry a tshirt for years before it wore out. Now they go out of shape after a single wash. I would happily pay for good quality if it existed, but the extra $ for expensive brands is paying only for the logo, not quality. Iâve had a comedic realisation this is what it will be for the rest of my life, I donât see clothes quality going back to how it was. RIP my wardrobe forever. Welcome to the future - no world peace, flying cars or spaceships. Just shitty tshirts.

I order my Tâs from a yankee shop called âpro clubâ. They last me about 2 years or so for me, but then start to develop little holes. Probably easily fixed with a sewing kit. Theyâre pricey though. The shirts look cheap cause itâs in USD, but they really arenât. And however much you spend, thatâs also basically the price of shipping. i.e if you order $100 of T-Shirts, youâll pay another $100 in shipping = $200. Now double that, and thatâs your total cost in Aussie dollarydoos after tax.
For shirts, socks, and undies, I go with Kmart special. I get a few of the $10-$20 Kmart chinko shorts once a year, similar story with undies. My socks (thick workwear ones), have actually lasted me about 3 years at this point and havenât even worn through. The older ones feel a bit more compressed, but theyâre still completely fine. In a further twist, instead of our friend giving COVID to Mr P, it may have actually been the other way around. An acquaintance of his wanted to come over and he told them they couldnât because COVID. Apparently they said (imagine flippant ditzy voice) âOh Iâve had that food weeks! Canât seem to get rid of it!â And then proceeded to regale him with anecdotes about people theyâve seen in recent weeks, including people weâve regularly been in contact with! đ Some people are just jerks.

My much-used travel mug developed a minor leak which caused it to drip on me every time I drank from it. I ordered a replacement yesterday (the exact same model) and thanks to the wonders of Amazon it was delivered today. The wonders of the modern age.
I did an ultimate lazy move today. I finished shopping at aldi, realised I needed things from Coles, grabbed them, realised I needed stuff form the fruit and veg shop, grabbed those, then realised I forgot to grab an ice cream so went back into aldi, then realised I needed oil so had to go into aldi yet another time, then I realised as I was unpacking into the car I forgot pepper. I said âfuck off Iâm not going back in there for another fortnightâ and looked at Amazon. Amazon sell SAXA pepper, so I ordered it, and now some poor, underpaid, exploited soul will come deliver me my 3.50 jar of pepper tomorrow :D
(I didnât take a shopping list because I had to turf a lot of food that may have been tampered with and this is my first proper shop since getting home. It was easier to make a list of what I do have, than what I donât, hence the spice list I posted earlier)
Kids these days. Back when I was a girl we didnât have that fancy internet thing and people delivering groceries to our door. At your age I walked to the supermarket, half an hour each way with a backpack every week. If I needed something I forgot I just had to do without.
I think the closest you got to food delivery in those days was a Christmas hamper. Or maybe pizza delivery, I think that started when I was still in school.

Took most of the day off and spent it out in the city, lunch and ACMI with visiting relatives. The free exhibition of the history of film and visual media is pretty neat and fun but a bit overstimulating for me. After all that walking around and interaction I am POOPED. Friend offered to catch up but pushed that to tomorrow because right now I canât wait to go home and sleeeeep.
Also finally tried Ceylon Wok and was duly impressed - especially at that price, what the hell? $12 for a decent feed with vegetables? Not bad at all

I want to go on a solo trip to Sydney or the Great Barrier Reef as a graduation present to myself.
My mum said, âNo way in hell are you going by yourself, do you not have friends?â
And then starts blaming me for not going on holidays as a child because I didnât want to leave my bed or was scared of unfamiliarity and missing school (which I wish I had missed because upper primary school was shit). Apparently they used to go on holidays every year or two years before I came into the picture.
However, a) my parents value saving money and have instilled in me the âYou donât need that rubbishâ mindset, b) Iâm sure I wouldâve been on board with going if I had known what to expect instead of writing off the idea entirely because I was apprehensive and c) if she wanted to, she would find a way.

Iâm so annoyed. There were recipes I wanted to pass down but I havenât made them in so long that Iâve forgotten stuff. (Had written it down but the paper is lost to the ether.)
I had shredded cardboard boxes and put more by the door to do when the recycling bin got emptied⊠but getting pakiges of necessary items just created more boxes. Theyâre breeding.
Iâm trying to pull myself up and get all the niggling annoying stuff sorted but Iâm just so lacking in energy.
I had a chat with a recruiter about a job at an interesting place yesterday. Itâs a tyre company she described as a âchristianâ business. I know the brethren are a weird christianity offshoot and like to run their own businesses in safe industries.
A tyre place back home is owned by the brethren, so maybe itâs the same deal with this place. I wouldnât work there, but Iâd almost prefer the transparency of going to work at a place where youâre expected to act proper around your weird bosses instead of the modern places insisting everyone be friends and not being sure where the boundaries are.
Help? Boyo has gotten a pile of fines (some before I met him) and is in a very bad doom spiral. I caât fix this ad heâs refusing to even query what they are. Should I just shut up and let him bankrupt himself?â Danger words have been said.
Think Iâm going to be cheeky today while Iâm working between sites and stop off at the supermarket to do some shopping so I donât have to do it after work today.

Toe update - doesnât seem like Iâve broken it. My god is it sore though, feels like Iâve overstretched all the muscles in my toe, foot, and shin. Still getting that weird pain every now and then, and Iâm sure if I knock it on something birds will be disturbed 2 streets away.
Baby girl has been picky even being fed the fancy little tins of cat food in crab flavour⊠I was starting to worry about her health. But I mixed in some of the new insanely expensive food (bought to be easier on her kidneys) and sheâs eating it with relish.
