Uvalde police department wasn’t meant to prevent shootings. (Or deal with ongoing ones either, in their opinion)
Watching videos of people screaming "shooter on the roof" at law enforcement

Also noone can know how many people didn’t even try to shoot trump or any (former) president for that matter, because the Secret Service was there with them.

I love people who think two seconds after someone yells gun a sniper is going to shoot someone. uvalde went on for hours.
Liz@midwest.social 3 months ago
Independent of Uvalde, it’s generally a bad idea as a sniper to just take someone else’s wors that the target you’re looking at is hostile. Kinda wanna confirm for yourself before you pull the trigger.
DandomRude@lemmy.world 3 months ago
The NRA and the like will probably use this again as an opportunity to demand even more and even bigger weapons for the police, the Secret Service and everyone else. Not that it will do any good, but they’ll try anyway, I suppose.
Zron@lemmy.world 3 months ago
You see, the problem wasn’t that the agents didn’t follow through on tips from the public, or have a marksman on the highest available rooftop for surveillance and counter sniping. No, the issue was that the agents could not simply shoot through the building to get the shooter.
That’s why they need recoiless rifles for the agents
DandomRude@lemmy.world 3 months ago
Yup, would have been easy to just nuke the guy as well.
zarathustrad@lemmy.world 3 months ago
Why not arm everyone in the crown. Good guy with a gun and all. Or, just call it democracy via bullet, that’s what they want anyway. Just let the mob shoot it out at every rally.
HawlSera@lemm.ee 3 months ago
The RNC responded to this by banning Tennis Balls, but saying guns are okay. I’m not joking.
DandomRude@lemmy.world 3 months ago
Damn, you are indeed not joking. I had to double-check because it’s so ridiculous.

is it credible to operate a rifle with a violin bow?
samus12345@lemmy.world 3 months ago
It’s generally considered a bad idea because you might miss and clip their ear instead.
booly@sh.itjust.works 3 months ago
I think in some jurisdictions it’s considered a bump stock.

The best part is there was a police officer who climbed the roof and saw the shooter, who threatened him with the gun, so he turned around. Trump got shot because of scaredy-cop.

Sauce is AP News. Police officer likely saved Trump’s life by making gunman rush for his shots.
The one time I wish they were pussies and they can’t even get that right.

Trump was incredibly lucky. Shooter guy was also lucky and fairly skilled, but mostly exploited the incompetence or the security. Few cm-s to the right and he would have made history. Though I as an EU citizen would have preferred if he just stayed home. If Trump died, there would already be a civil war, and now he’ll “just” win the election, which is also not great regarding the future support of Ukraine and security of Europe.
MrShankles@reddthat.com 3 months ago
Any source for that?

Is this real? I hadn’t heard that part yet
blanketswithsmallpox@lemmy.world 3 months ago
This. I provided sauce from AP News on reddit.
blanketswithsmallpox@lemmy.world 3 months ago
Glad to help. And yeah, remember that Lemmy has far fewer checks and balances on manipulation than reddit does. Providing sauce during current world events is just good etiquette.

buddascrayon@lemmy.world 3 months ago
Secret service ignored him cause he was supposed to be there. The false flag operation was already set in motion.
UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 3 months ago
On a more serious note, he had minutes between being spotted and taking his shot.
The Uvalde shooter had hours.
The fact that he was a right-wing YouTuber does raise some big red flags, though.
Woht24@lemmy.world 3 months ago
Especially after he started yelling ‘like and subscribe’ from the rooftop
HawlSera@lemm.ee 3 months ago
The Secret Service doesn’t let Presidents mug for the camera if a REAL threat is present.

I don’t like the extrapolation that Trump is the analog of innocent school children.

I don’t like the extrapolation that the person that was killed wasn’t an innocent victim because they were at a Trump rally.
