I mean, back when, it wasnt uncommon to be marrying young. Cinderella came out in 1950, a time where women didnt go to college, and it wasnt uncommon to be married right after high school to someone who could provide for you, would could easily be 22. Thats for everyday people. I imagine being royalty, where you didnt really have to go to high school or college, shakes those ages up even more
I wouldnt go as far as to call it a conspiracy theory because that wasnt out of the ordinary at the time

I hate the, “make an appointment online!” Button that basically just turns into them calling you instead of you calling them. If I wanted to talk on the phone, I would have called you at my convenience. You calling me is way less convenient. Don’t put that I can make an appointment online if I can’t

Im sure youre right. My point is thats not even a niche topic. A quick Google estimates there are 21 million viewers PER GAME every week. There are literally hundreds of millions of fans of the nfl, but even a subject so popular can’t maintain a healthy community on lemmy, how are these niche topics supposed to stand a chance at survival?
- Comment on Stop whining. Do it yourself. 1 month ago:
I look at the nfl community here. It really only gets a handful of posts on Sunday and that’s it. It blows my mind that there isn’t more engagement

In your example tho, you want those numbers to stand out. The reason the affair was busy, was because of the numbers. You want the numbers to jump out, because that’s the important detail.

Why exactly? The whole line is about how you can like each someone regardless of their background or interest.

I don’t have a ton to add to this, but the Playstation controllers even pair with mobile devices with basically no setup. It’s impressive

- Comment on Tech CEOs are backtracking on RTO mandates—now, just 3% want workers in the office full-time 4 months ago:
There’s some of that. I know companies in my city were given tax breaks for hosting their office building there. The theory is, the business brings more people into the area who will be spending money on lunch/happy hour/gas/etc. The tax income of that is more than the tax benefit they offer the company.
Well, people stop coming to the office, and their tax benefit of the employees being in the city dries up. The city was threatening the companies tax benefit if the people didn’t come back, and thus, RTO (in my city, anyway).
- Comment on Engineers vs Physicists 4 months ago:
When I was a coop (intern), and I’d run out of work assigned to me, I’d head down to the floor or a lab and just talked to people. In 6 months, I knew more about the process than people who had been there years
- Comment on Engineers vs Physicists 4 months ago:
Thats just the difference between a good engineer and a bad engineer. A good engineer designs things around how others are going to use them, and the design with tolerance. They would have known you use 50kg bags, and realized that’s what you’re going to do.
In my field, we know people are gonna put things together with a hammer if it’s too tight, so if it’s intentionally a tight fit, we make it so there’s no room to swing a hammer
