I can add some uninteresting facts.

Seem to have hit the post-dinner slowdown. Come on you fellow spammers of the echo chamber, whatâs happening this evening?
I ate 3 tacos because I only made two at work before realising that was a stupid idea, then I had a bowl of leek and tuna pasta. And now Iâm chilling out to Boz Scaggs to lift my mood a bit this evening.
Iâm also so grateful for my reverse cycle splitty. Found out my cousin in the sticks has had to turn down the central heating thermostat to 16C because their power bill is too high and my poor uncle from the tropics is wearing four layers indoors. Thatâs new builds for you, with the giant house footprints and warm air leaking everywhereâŠ
Baku@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I reckon we will
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Itâs early. Iâm waiting for fence builders. What I can tell you is, when getting the quotes, the dude who turned up with thongs on did not get the job.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Lol we got fence quotes a couple of years ago and one of the dudes who turned up was pissed as a newt, reeked of it. Then the neighbour lost his job so we couldnât get it done anyway.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
đ oh fuck!
The guy turned up to remove the old fence. Itâs been laying in the neighbours waist high grass for the last 6 months so there was most likely weeds growing through it.
Also the neighbour sleeps outside like a hobo so heâs probably awake now.

Such a floofy boy!
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I looooove hard rubbish days. We had one here in Thornbury just recently. My haul this year included a really nice persian carpet approx 2 metres by 1.5 metres. Someone threw it out because theyâd just replaced it with âsomething that suits the decorâ. Itâs in perfect condition - just a little grubby. No stains, no pet smells. Itâs going off to the rug washer tomorrow for a thorough tubbing. Cost will be approx $150 for a really nice rug that suits me just fine. You couldnât buy a nice wool persian carpet for that.
I also scarfed some very nice wire trellis that will fit the fence around my back courtyard too. Come springtime I will install this and plant a grape vine on it. My nice italian next door neighbour has given me a potted shoot from his grapevine that his family brought over when they came to Australia - which makes the most amazing grappa so I am anxious to give this a go when the vine is fruiting. Lovely big reddish green grapes that are so so sweeeet.
Catfish@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I miss Hard Rubbish! One booked pickup a year here, and you supposedly need permission of the property manager. Presumably so the landlord can gazzump you.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Aldi shop is done. Will hit up one of the Oligopolies for the couple of things on the list they didnât have. Time to cook dinner, go to gym, and redeem myself.
danwritesbooks@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I miss AldiâŠ
Catfish@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Dammit! Shoe leaked, now Iâm going to squelch all day.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
What happened to the rain? Seems like it mostly fell while we were all asleep.
I had some Spirited Away-esque dreams where there were all these fantastical characters and a huge restaurant with many inner workings and lowly staff being turned into turtles and retro computers for being slow or seeing the wrong thing. It was kind of heart-breaking, reallyâŠ
Cendana@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Itâs still raining here from Carlton through to Essendon, light rain.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ok, Iâve finally ordered an electric throw, so this spell of freezing weather will finish up in time it takes to arrive.
thatKamGuy@sh.itjust.works âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
We thank you for your sacrifice.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I take back everything I said about the rain because lo, the moisture hath intensified. Needed to postpone one site visit to tomorrow. Absolutely horrible commute on the way back (even with it being school holidays). I think next Wednesday is a definite WFH day again. Itâs such a shit route.
Todayâs been yuck enough that I just want to delete my brain and reset it for tomorrow. I suppose this is why people drink

Fuck me intune/endpoint/shitty previous MSP are making this a bloody tough arvo. Spreadsheets, reports and duplicate values kind of situation.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
MSPâs in general, from my experience, are usually pretty shitty. Thereâs one in particular, rhymes with âRataFromâ that is by far, the absolute worst MSP Iâve ever had to deal with. (I hope thatâs not the one you work for).
TinyBreak@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
haha not sure im familiar with that one. Nah Iâm internal now thank f. Havnt done msp work for years now and do NOT miss it. This was the MSP before the last MSP who were supporting my current employers environment back in the day leaving their shit around.

I watched Argylle the other day. A really stupidly funny movie. Sam Rockwell is just the best.

As a big Ritchie fan, I couldnât make it through. Iâll try again but it was lacking the usual charm.
The cast was great, but the writingâŠbit slow

Itâs hardly possible to parody the absurdity that is spy action movies but they did. The bon mots were better than Bond movies too.

Woke up, very ready for breakfast and the kitchen sink isnât draining. Guess one of the housemates clogged it last night. Woooooooooooooooooo coffee for breakfast
Recently frustrated with one of them. Theyâre usually all good. Iâve tried to complain about one issue and got brushed off. Might need to be more assertive.

On the topic of Tolkien, this morning I was going through some old books that were still in boxes from moving house last year. Found a copy of The Adventures of Tom Bombadill which Iâve had for decades, I remember my grandmother used to read it to me when I was a kid in the 70âs. Well, it turns out that this little hardback is a first edition print from 1962 (UK release) and some are selling online for $700+, one seller had a copy up for $1100!
No plans to sell it, but I should probably take a bit more care with it :)
StudChud@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
It always makes me cry so damn hard when he gets to go to Valinor. Like, can you imagine him seeing Frodo again after all that time? đ
And the scene when Gandalf, Galadriel, and Celeborn are boarding the shop at the Grey Havens, and then Frodo turns around⊠God it just kills me.
Annie Lennoxâs voice is so damn ethereal as well

I recently discovered Sushi place on corner of Lonsdale and Swanston, most rolls $2.50 each.
Baku@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I misunderstood that last part and thought you meant 10 rolls for 4 bucks and I was going to ask you if you travelled to early 20th century Japan or something

Canât sleep.
Repair rambles
I canât seem to find a matching yarn for the jumper repair (to be fair the colour, texture and thinness are very specific). I looked to see if there were any embroidery flosses that kind of tone but there were only bundles that didnât have great matches. So I may either try eBay for a single skein or do a temporary job with doubled thread just to hold the hole together and stop it unraveling larger. This is kind of a favourite jumper.

Channel 9âs online streaming website is the absolute worst out of all the free to air channels.
Always stop working and hangs and actually locks up my browser with the ability to wreck other free to air streaming sites requiring a total reboot of the browser.
I hate channel 9!

Oooooooo a dome that can fit two spires? Yes please!
The space elevator and the mohole are so dang exxy, my Martians will have to wait for those. I hope to see up some rare metal exports very soon, I only have $12b left đ
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ok gang, letâs send this thread over the edge. What sport did you play during high school? What sport did you like, what sport did hate?
For me I played soccer, table tennis. I hated gymnastics.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
At high school? I was a fat kid, so was condemned to the outer darkness as far as sport was concerned. Was forced to participate in basketball, hockey and swimming. Successfully avoided tennis, squash and softball/baseball, cricket and anything even remotely resembling gymnastics. As I have no depth perception above the horizon, anything that required me to catch or hit a ball overhead was doomed to failure. Also very small and badly engineered feet, so running sports were off the table too. Hockey was OK - I was the goalie (most of the time) as no one else wanted to do that bit. Had quite a lot of fun whacking peopleâs shins with my stick (named Excalibur). Revenge is sweet. Did OK out of school at ice skating. As my Dad was ex-navy, all of my siblings and me learned to sail small boats and race them in the school holidays. Which was OK, but not really my bag long term. Also got thrown out of ballet classes due to complete lack of talent. But I do love to dance - just not ballet.
The real irony came in my mid thirties, when due to unrelated circumstances, I did a reflex speed test. And tested out at the top 3% of the population. If only theyâd offered jet fighter pilot training as a sport at my high school ⊠I could have been a real star at that.
As things turned out, I ended up as a professional equestrian for over 20 years. The reflexes came in real handy for that. And on the back of a horse I didnât need to use my feet much so that was good too.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Wow. Thatâs some impressive sports rĂ©sumĂ©.
Catfish@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Nothing like a good revenge hockey stick to the shin. You may keep your horses though shudder
bacon@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
i ran
Catfish@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
So far away
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ice skating.
I made particular efforts to avoid all forms of team sports. I also sucked so badly at swimming I managed to fail a Girl Guide swimming badge.
Baku@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Still in high school (kind of), donât play any sports, never really have. Iâve tried a few, I donât mind tennis, I think I might enjoy golf, at least at first, basketball isnât my vibe but is the sort of thing I enjoy watching (not professional basketball, but I wonât fall asleep watching a friend play it). Hate football, fall asleep watching it, and just generally get annoyed by it (or more accurately the type of people who are obsessed with it)
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
You havenât missed much. I think most people will remember the super embarrassing sports uniforms more than the actual sport itself.
tone212_@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
None! I was not a sporty kid at all. I ditched PE as soon as I could, I think year 10 was the last year it was mandated. Early high school I played tennis but I started to not like it once I had to play in competitions.
It seems now that kids doing a sport all through high school is the norm? My parents never forced me.
Now I play a team sport to make up for my sports-less adolescence.
Duenan@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Mostly tennis, some volleyball due to lack of choice.
Absolutely hated swimming though, also hated gymnastics but that was due to the teacher taking it.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I played tennis too and softball
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I didnât play any sport in high school; I hated it (and still not really keen on it either). Maybe a bit of lousy badminton with friends. I did play netball in primary school till my immune system got whacked and I was never the same afterwards
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I was fat until year 9 term 1 holidays. I grew a lot taller in what seemed like a short time.
Also got fitter magically. Good old testosterone lol
I played hockey and volleyball.
I also played smoking and drinking at lunchtime on the oval with my mates which was also fun, but not great in hindsightâŠ
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Hahahaha. Theyâre my adult sports. I play every Friday night. As well as dancing and singing. Iâm fucking good at it too.
Catfish@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Mostly soccer. Some softball, hockey, and Touch. Useless at most, especially gym. If this is because my Primary school didnât teach them so I was delayed, or just a general klutz remains debatable.
calhoon2005@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Soccer⊠Rugby. Athletics. Tennis
Loved soccer. Hated rubgy. Others were meh.
StudChud@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I played soccer and footy at school.
Netball as an extracurricular I enjoyed.
Hated volleyball and the beep test đ
