Well done! I know how hard it can be to get things sorted out. You should be really proud of yourself đ
Thank you đ I appreciate this a lot đđ
Alrighty. Off to an interview as âSimonâ. Here we go.
Good luck Simon
Simple as Simon can be, he does well in interviews lol
Butty booiiii ugh so handsome want to skritch. Wish his humans were nicer
How has Butters been?
đHe is beautiful!
It went ok I think. They didnât react negatively to âSimonâ. But weâll see how it plays out.
Was good practice anyway!
Good work! did you bring up last nights massive revelation on âfarmer wants a rootâ to sell it? I assume there was a massive revelation anyway.
I may have stretched my Aussie accent out a bit further than normal. Only slightly though.
Onya Simmo!
Maaaaaate đ
Fantastic! Seriously should be proud of yourself! đ Make sure to treat yourself as well, you deserve it!
Iâm about to enjoy my afternoon Nanna nap and playing with Gibson. Perfect combo lol
Took a pretty heavy call from a friend this afternoon that is going through a rough time. She had an altercation with some friends in our group which I think set her off into a spiral. I had no idea about any of this. It takes a lot of courage to reach out to someone.
I used to get affected by the same friends too, but then learned to stop putting disappointing people on a pedestal, thinking they do the same, and rely on them for emotional support and wellbeing which was always one way. I made some new friends. I discovered that healthy adult friendships actually exist and instead of being upset about certain behaviours from those people, I learned to pity that behaviour. I hope she learns this too.
Iâm learning that lesson myself. Itâs tough, but good to know thereâs light at the end of the tunnel.
so many many hugs
it was a very sad day for me when I realised my family of origin would never be a support . I went non contact because of abuse, and my husbandâs family? I will do nothing for them anymore other than grunt oh noes when they tell sad tales. I am lucky to have a few people in my life I can rely on and I think thatâs what itâs like. In life we only get a few people.
I used to get affected by the same friends too, but then learned to stop putting disappointing people on a pedestal, thinking they do the same, and rely on them for emotional support and wellbeing which was always one way.
Big hugs. Relate to that so very painfully. I still feel pangs of sadness over the loss of an entire friend circle over covid; I shared lots of values and experiences with them and we had lots of great times, but I couldâve kicked myself for being so reliant on them for that support/wellbeing when it turns out that they were supremely unwilling/unable to show up in the ways that mattered most when the chips were down.
It was impossible to have an honest conversation because they would beat themselves up in a show of contrition and shame but not actually acknowledge any issues and work on them (or anticipate them better). I know a lot of that is a trauma response from them but after a certain point it just wasnât healthy to be around any more and I couldnât handle continuing to be the only one willing to forgive and accommodate.
Iâm still in the phase of not really having made any new friends on that level, though I certainly have strengthened my friendship with a couple of other rock-solid people in my life and itâs made me so much more grateful for them.
Hard relate. Iâve learned to try and be happy in my own company rather than deal with that, but humans are a social animal and those behaviours are so pervasive
Still feeling wrecked. Am kind of wondering whether itâs related to (an unpleasant road related incident)
an accident yesterday. I was riding home and had to u-turn as there had been accident involving a motorcyclist just several minutes before. I didnât see anything, but I saw the bobbing of a head and I knew they were desperately doing CPR. A witness said theyâd been trying for 5 mins and didnât know when the ambulance would arrive. They were on the way when I was riding back in the opposite direction. The news reported that he died at the scene. Iâm trying not to think about it, but itâs hard since I ride there almost weekly. I mean, I know that it can happen anywhere, but most people on the weekends are sort of chill. It is a winding 60km that increases to 80km, but most people on the weekends take it pretty easy. Hell, I rode Black Spur yesterday and one of the drivers was literally driving half the speed limit. sigh Just that constant reminder of lifeâŚ
Sorry, just needed to offload it.
Itâs hard to witness, your feelings are valid. Make sure you take care of yourself, self-care. Sending you good vibes
Thanks, StudSpud. I guess I didnât really realise how it might have affected me. I had a pretty bad sleep last night and didnât put two and two together.
Mate, being so close to the scene like that would absolutely have residual effects on your nervous system. Definitely take it easy, it can be a lot to process
Thanks, JK. It looks like that in formatting and works on desktop, but I only noticed it wasnât working on Memmy. I tried to fix it, but to no avail.
Appreciate your words, thanks.
What a frickin dumpster fire. The EBU fâed up hard. Also so much for not politicising Eurovision, Israel got over 300 points with one of the worst songs of the night! in the same 24 hours it warns of inceasing its bombing campaign in Rafa. I justâŚâŚ I donât even have words here. What the f is going on in the world.
Ah but Eurovision isnât political. Those bombings? Not our problem. Oh, people are upset at Israel? WeâRe NoT pOlItIcAl REEEEEEE!
Ah but Eurovision isnât political. Those bombings? Not our problem. Oh, people are upset at Israel? WeâRe NoT pOlItIcAl REEEEEEE!
Palestine isnât a participant. So I guess in a sense ânot their problemâ? but booting out the DutchâŚ? Maaaaan.
Thereâs also the CNN article on the Israeli whistleblowers. Massive trigger warnings for detainment and torture if you look that up. Cripes.
And yet still in the Un. Still invited to Eurovision. Netanyahu Could behead a baby on national tv and so long as he says it was a âterroristâ Biden would still suck his dick.
Mimi is such a brave little kitty.
Yesterday, wifey noticed that Mimi seemed to be winking a lot. After some further inspection, she noticed that one of Mimiâs eyelids was swollen.
So today, Mimi went on a big trip to the vets to see Dr Paul.
Dr Paul took a look at her eye, and thankfully thereâs no scratches on her eyeball.
Because itâs one eye that was swollen, itâs unlikely to be an allergic reaction, and our babies are all indoor cats.
Most likely, it was that some individual â who may or may not be named Spunky or Snowy â got a little rough while playing with Mimi overnight.
After an anti-inflammatory injection and some eyedrops, Miss Mimi was sent home.
Sheâs now happily playing in a box.
I told you there would be fisticuffs over that box.
@CEOofmyhouse56 @ajsadauskas@lemmy.ml You were correct.
Poor Mimi đż
Sweet Mimi, such a good puss. đ Wishing her a healthy recovery đđ
hugs,
She is a good puss.
@Seagoon_ @ajsadauskas@lemmy.ml Thank you đ
The good news is that she got home and had dinner and a bit of a play. Hopefully, after a couple of days of eye drops, she makes a full recovery đ¸
Currently trying to organise a redundancy reference. Canât risk getting to the last stage and having someone drop out.
To whom it may concern:
Simon is good. Please hire him.
Yours sincerely,
Melbourne DT
In answer to your enquiry, Sir, I am happy to see that youâve had the good sense to hire Mr Fluffybutt. He is and will be an excellent employee.
I endorse this message
Does Gibson know you as Simon yet?
That actually made me laugh out loud. Thank you!
This reminds me of a friend from long ago who had a coal black kelpie - not a white hair on him. Named Spot, as in spot the dog ⌠preferably before you tripped over him.
Got some pretty cool shots of the aurora on Saturday night, hand held with my phone, standing in my partners backyard in Reservoir!!! What a crazy experience :)
it was a surprise to see it from the suburbs, but I nearly died of shock when my dogshit iphone managed a pretty decent pic. the poor thing doesnt even have a night mode or long exposure, it was a hell of an ask for âautoâ mode.
yay, I got lactose free milk and have been able to have coffee without effects , it was a bad week ⌠lol
Oat milk goes great with coffee if you can have it.
TinyCat was a model patient. Bloods, worming, vaccines and we will see what we see. Still weighs the same, still eating and going to the litter box ok so they are not sure but not super worried.
TinyCat is off to the vet. He chucked again this morning, that makes it 4 times in a week. Heâs also alternates between velcro-kitty and antagonist way more than usual. Suspect something is going on with him.
First 40 minutes of work today really soured my tone for the week. Had a chat with my boss and he felt the same.
Reason - we have some team members who are getting a bit too big for their britches, and causing a bit of friction. One particular person cannot stop themselves from interrupting others when talking. Happens daily, they have been reprimanded and it still happens. I think weâre getting close to an HR chat or a director telling them to pull their heads in.
Crud has spiralled into feeling Actually Awful.
Iâve held it together for long enough to go to the supermarket and call in sick for work tomorrow, but now Iâm going to bed
My head is so sore from last night. Those damn smoke alarms. I am pretty sure the ones we have are loud enough to cause hearing damage. I guess it have the neighbour with the car alarm a taste of his own medicine though, so thereâs that
Have awoken to a kitchen covered in stir fry. Unwisely thought the lid would be enough to stop FishyCat getting into it. Hopefully he doesnât end up peeing rocks from that snack.
For fucks sake. Our fire alarms randomly went off. I was on the dunny half asleep. Nothingâs on fire. There are cobewebs around the fire alarm thatâs going off, so my guess is that somethingâs moved in to it and is triggering the sensor. This actually happened at my last place, although at a much more reasonable hour.
Our alarms are a lot worse than regular alarms in regular houses. Theyâre all wired in series, so once one goes off, they all go off. It is controlled by a commercial style Pannell, but the best that can do for us is making it shut up for 8 minutes. After that it can be retriggered. We canât just take it off the roof, A because weâd be in a fair bit of shit, but B because itâs bolted onto the roof and has several wires feeding into it anyways.
We can call the fire alarm company to replace it, but they wonât get here for several hours. Several hours while weâre meant to be asleepâŚ
@Seagoon_ Feeling really annoyed at an acting middle manager at our workplace right now.
He's terrible at communicating. He refuses to listen to people. He makes decisions and orders people to do stuff without asking anyone if the thing he wants to do is even possible.
There's a whole string of bad decisions as a result, and everyone else is left to clean up his mess afterwards.
For example, there's an event that was scheduled on a particular date. An email was sent out to the people (outside the organisation) who are likely to attend.
Before that email was sent, he decided to postpone it. Just he didn't let anyone know until after the emails were sent.
Another example. One of my colleagues was told she had to drop everything to find leads for a new product that he decided to launch in two weeks. He then blamed her for not coming up with enough leads.
He's decided the IT team needs to roll out a new automated reporting system right now. The IT department has already said it's not adding any features to that system because they're getting rid of it in the next year or so. They don't answer to him, and will just refuse to do it. So there's a whole series of meetings now planned because he's insisting that it has to happen.
There's also a whole marketing campaign that the marketing team thinks is a stupid idea that won't work, because they tried it last year and it didn't work. He's insisting they do it anyway.
And there's a whole string of decisions like this.
The thing is, I'm not sure he's aware at just how demotivating his unique management style is to those around him.
Spent more time in bed than usual this morning and the app says I slept well⌠Annnnd I still feel like a sack of ripe old. I feel soooo tired.
Dragged myself out of the cave upon realising there was gorgeous sunshine to be had and in 15 mins it was gone! Melbourne weather, aye.
Love getting into work and thereâs a mystery bottle of vodka waiting on my desk. Sign of the week to come?
Iâve woken up and come to work and forgot my ID pass, hopefully I donât get locked out of the building today.
Also my body is broken from the weekend furniture moving.
5 mins to have coffee and enjoy it before I have to be outside, argh!
Listening to Magic Pill and the author describes animal testing of effects of different foods on appetite. I canât help thinking of Ted Cat.
When Ted Cat came here I noticed he was quite short for a Nieb breed cat and he was ravenous. He would not stop eating. He would attack anyone who came near him. He only wanted packet food with gravy and would leave good food uneaten. He wanted to eat 3 times a day.
Over the months I slowly changed his diet. One packet food and some fresh food. He rejected good food and would get angry. I put out a huge bowl of crunchies to last for days, he ate it all in a day, his poor tummy was distended. He now eats fresh Fussy Cat meat and Fussy Cat kangaroo crunchies only. I now measure it all out carefully, I gave him a slow eating bowl so he wouldnât wolf it down then start on Billâs food. I fed him outdoors.
Then I got sick and husband fed the boys, they got unlimited food. Ted just went crazy and ate and ate, heâs now on a diet and itâs working.
The positive thing is that Ted Cat now eats healthier food , not packet food with gravy. I donât know if he would choose gravy if offered. Thatâs the thing, Ted Cat doesnât need will power, he doesnât have the ability to make choices between foods, for him itâs eat or have nothing
I am listening to Magic Pill for the second time ( book about ozempic weight loss drug )
hereâs what I think after listening one time, itâs a great drug that actually works and itâs best used short term as an aid to tackling the psychology of eating and resetting eating habits.
I would totes take it if it were available here but it being Australia drug companies canât be bothered and we have an over cautious government . I would even considering going to Canada to get it if possible.
Why is it good? It actually helps people regain health and reduces risks of age and weight related illnesses. This is proven .
One of the scary things I learnt in the book is how fake nearly all manufactured food is.
eg, bought cheese cake is just emulsified milk products, added oils, sugars and thickeners and flavour. Home made I used ricotta and eggs and real lemons or cherries. Real pastry base too.
One is fake food with practically no positive nutritional value, the other is real food that has some nutrition but should still be eaten sparingly as itâs high in calories.
The other sad thing is that the authorâs parents worked so hard they were too tired to cook healthy meals. They ate premade meals zapped in the microwave. I will not fault the parents, that fault is in the work that tired them out and the food they bought being misrepresented as being healthy .
Itâs too late, the snot has me now

Woke at 05:57 & whacked on the clock-radio to catch the start of PK on RN. Then remembered it's Monday, so it'll be SS. But, say what, instead it's FK! Whoa. I am so pleased. I've been trying for years, & there's just been continuous failures, but finally i've succeeded. My Time-Machine works, yay! đ
@Seagoon_ #whimsy #nonsense đ¤Ş
For historical reasons unimportant here, i have a large number of cheap cotton face-washers in various colours. Prior to today, eight of these were sky-blue coloured. Today however, there's only five that i can find [of that colour]. I am getting so fed up with that blasted backyard #bunyip coming in at night whilst i sleep & helping herself to my linen cupboard. She's only got one warning left now, after which i feed her to the #yowie. I might even give her a bit of light fanging myself on the way thru, just to be going on with. Honestly, tis just beyond the pale; you'd think we mythical creatures would stick together, ffs! What is she, channelling her inner #bowerbird or something? đ¤ˇââď¸
remembering i have a puffer jacket but it is bright blue and thatâs not very melbourne

Ad? Or AAD? Remember for bonus points call it âextra idâ these days. Throw in a reference to conditional access policies. If that donât give the security guys a semi nothing will.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Thatâs fucking hilarious 𤣠but youâre absolutely spot on. They want basic AD knowledge which is pretty straightforward. Just brushing up.
I actually did work on IAM and conditional access at my last job, but only as a project manager.
