Got my flu shot yesterday and feeling a bit meh today. Generally I have little to no side effects, but this one has managed to kick my arse slightly.

Iâm not allowed. Eating chicken makes me sneeze.
Youâre meant to remove the feathers first! /j
Iâve only ever had 1 flu shot which was during COVID times
Snap, got mine yesterday too. Iâve been fine though.
As far as I know Iâve never had influenza and Iâd like to keep it that way.
Youâll probably be fine. I was sick a fair bit last year, so I figure my immune system isnât as good as it once was.
OCD chillo sorting achieved.
I am very interested in the small mid right ones. The cultivar is old, no longer common, sweet and fucknâ hawt:
Gawd Iâm starting to sound crazy.
I like that the chopping board and the colander tone in with all the glorious red. It all looks amazing.
those are birds eye arenât they?
My new passport arrived today. Pretty impressive turnaround, I only put the application in on Friday. Definitely a huge improvement on the post-Covid backlog days.
Ugh I feel like I heard somebody walking around on the deck at the front door. Iâm not home alone, but the roommate is asleep. Itâs probably just possums on the roof, but it definitely felt like somebody on the verandah. I know that itâs probably nothing and to put my mind at rest I should flick the light on and have a peek out the window, but I really donât want to. The conundrums of being an independent mini human :/
It was probably just your friendly neighbourhood Slenderman, nothing to worry about
Sometimes just flicking the light in is enough. I hope youâre okay!
Is it possible to get a stick on Ring camera? I seem to remember a rental friendly option but then again I think you have to pay a subscription
Iâve actually been considering a ring for a while. Unfortunately it would be a little bit difficult as we probably wouldnât be allowed to hardwire it. Also since thereâll be a few other people living here soon, everybody would want access to it which has some security implications as well
Out walking the dog, with a beer, thinking a burger would be nice right nowâŠWhatever happened to food trucks at parks of an autumn evening?
Miss Meow says it is definitely dinner time right now and is claiming my explanation about changing clocks to be an unfounded conspiracy theory.
My phone screen contrast is low due to being in night mode and MissMeow looks rather creepy and eyeless⊠truly like staring into the void.
Enjoy.
The good madamâs tummy timer is never wrong.
Tonight tackling the pile.
Seed collection, making flakes/dust, fermenting and trying not to rub eyes or no no bits
Only fermenting the really little ones as theyâre unique for some reason and I need to see what happens.
But⊠planning on collecting a lot of the seeds, so if anyone wants any, lemmy know if you Want it (they last for years).
Which brings us to todayâs rave choon:
gloves
đ»
I didnât know capsicums and chillies could ferment
Ugh, fkn clothes moths. uGH UGH
Noooo
Not you too
Buy space bags and pheromone traps and launder everything cloth đ°
Bill and Ted are such lazy arses that they are getting moths. đŹ
Iâm not kidding.
They sit down and little moths fly up from their fur. Iâm brushing them but obviously not enough.
Canât wait for some spiders to move in and take care of the buffet.
I need 10 hours sleep from now on. 8 isnât enough. So tiredâŠ
Is it Hot Take Thursday? I think it is. Anyway my hot take is: Milo is not that great. Itâs ok on ice cream or the occasional hot drink but itâs pretty bland.
Youâve just gotta put 10 tablespoons in and then layer it on top of the milk so itâs all crunchy.
I think NestlĂ© deliberately made Milo Hydrophobic so youâre compelled to add more thus buying more.
That everyone as well as kids <5 need ankle bracelets that deliver an electric current when theyâre not walking on the left of footpaths.
Nothing crazy⊠maybe 220,000 volts or so.
I think if you have a toddler, you and the kid should be implanted with a magnet and it automatically activates in carparks.
Most children under 5 should be leashed
Mine were, lol⊠both were pretty keen on doing a runner as soon as they were released from the confines of a stroller/car/parent, and I had foot issues after the 2nd pregnancy (plantar fasciitis for example) so i didnât fancy my chances of hobbling after them. My chase-hobbling looked like a John Cleese silly walk on speed so the cuddly toy baby leash backpack was employed. When my mum passed away and I was clearing out the cupboards I found a 70s baby leash with parental wrist strap⊠looks like the apple didnât run far from the tree đ
hehâŠ
Actually saw that recently at the shops and wasnât quite sure how to feel about it.
Depends how much Milo is used. Needs half a cup of Milo powder to get any taste. I donât buy it any more. Too $$$$$$
I prefer not to have to chew my drink.
I tried the aldi one and found it pretty gross. My mum used to âmakeâ her own with sugar and cocoa powder. Honestly I rate that.
Lord of the Rings: kinda boring and a serious lack of Tom Cruiseđ„
What role, exactly, do you envision Tom Cruise in? Because Iâm imagining him as Gandalf and I canât stop laughing
I think Tom would make a great Alfrid Lickspittle. Would be nice to see him in a supporting role and not the hero for once.
I hate Macs
Fast food, overcoats, Scottish people??
I agree with your hot take, although I guess that makes it a cold take
It used to be better. Now itâs so expensive for what it is.
Bring back the original Milo bars I say.
Get a message from mygov âlink your digital id!â

If youâve got the energy, make an account on www.phish.report and start a takedown. It automatically find out who the domain registrar is (in my experience usually namesilo) and the domain host (usually Alibaba cloud) is and gives you a little button you can use to report it to them. Usually gets taken down within 24 hours
If you donât have the energy for all that, DM me the domain page and Iâll do it
Online friend group drama has gone full batshit and is affecting my own mental health. Time to log off and just try and take a break from there. :/
so many hugs, listen to nice music instead đ€đ
Please guys remember to post your meals on !foodaustralia@aussie.zone. I just had someone from Spain post which is pretty cool. Special thanks to @bull@aussie.zone and @PeelerSheila@aussie.zone for their regular contributions.
Oh thatâs excellent. I always feel like who wants to see boring âmeat and vegâ type meals all the time so I donât really post frequently.
Weâve had Americans, Kiwis etc post. They love what we eat. The more the merrier.
Same here, then when I cook something exciting I forget to take a pic
Clouds are clearing in Gippsland, this is good as I didnât want to inspect a car in the rain. Please let this be a decent one, I hate car shopping so much.
I hear you re car shopping. Iâm going to have to do that soon, too. Good luck! đ€đ»
Ooops! Overslept and hour and a half and was late for work today.
Hope the day goes quickly today.
My hope for no rain today?
Iâm going to get my roast veg in the oven, and then Iâm going to have a luxurious hot shower followed by cozy jim jams
Got my new shoes, got my haircut and saw my doctor. Time to go home and relax.
Fairly productive day all things considered.
I have about an hour of work left, and zero (0) fucks left
Haircut in the arvo and some new running shoes. Life is good.
Enjoy your day everyone â€ïž
Oy.
Who wants tomorrows thread - friday April 12, 2024?
Iâm dusty and frazzled from my unexpectedly hyper extended trip thanks to trespassers on the track and my overall confusion around inspecting a car and trying to decide what can slide and whatâs risky. I get different answers from different people about how important documented logbook servicing is.
Folks with a working class background tell me itâs not everything if it clears a pre purchase inspection and drives ok, and wonât impact resale value that much, plenty of people just get their mates to do the servicing and itâs turned out fine. Everyone else is like no way⊠rather even take a similar car with some aesthetic panel damage if itâs got a solid logbook.
My bin doesnât make clink clink clinkity clink any more. I miss saying âthatâs my binâ when the truck goes past.
ffs, I forgot to put the sweet taters in the oven
Second tea of the day
Lunch is imminent
Gatecreeper tonight at the Prince Bandroom. weâll see how the kids go falling asleep tonight and maybe Iâll go
Woke up early naturally⊠what a strange feeling! Taking the right dose of melatonin - 0.3g now that I actually have it in that dose - seems to be a huge difference compared to 1g.
Gonna be taking a long v/line ride to go look at a car today. It better be worth it!

Sometimes, in a split second I get this kind of sadness when I see something.
I saw a guy with his son and he was showing him how to fill the car with petrol.
Nothing special. Unless youâve never really had a father. Then you think about all the other stuff you had to learn by yourself; like shaving, driving, finding your first job and hundreds of other small things you donât normally think about.
I suppose thereâs pride in having navigated from age 14 till 41 by yourself. But itâs a poor 2nd place prize.
Sorry for the downer.

I feel this so, so hard. I can usually ignore things in real life, but I donât watch family movies or shows very much because they make me feel the same way, and if I ever do something or have an experience that feels like my idea of normalcy I end up in a euphoric like state for a few hours before crashing really hard and ending up really sad for the next few days
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš6â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I think you deserve all the hugs in the world for having to feel that way đ« Thatâs heartbreaking. I know you canât do anything about how it all is and youâre unbelievably bright and level-headed and observant for all youâve been through, but I hope so much you do find your own family when you become independent and get some of those happy family vibes in your real life. The physical feeling of belonging and security is absolutely unmatched. May you get to experience that for real with good people who will be there for you :D
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš6â© âšmonthsâ© ago
so many super hugs
I get that feeling from ânormalcyâ too, then I see the dysfunctional fam and have to tone down my normal.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš6â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâm the same with any family related media. It just hurts. I know about that euphoric state youâre talking about. For me, they happen when I succeed at something Iâve been working hard at. I feel really good for a while, then the thoughts of âwish I had a family (thatâs average) to celebrate withâ.
All my victories are silent.
I lie to people when ask me about my family. I made up a story about how they are all overseas. Stops the weird vibe that happens when you tell the truth.
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš6â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I felt this with some of the dads at my old workplace. Hearing them having to leave on time to go watch a game or going to a 9 day fortnight so they could spend more time with their kids. I kinda teared up for a bit thinking about how my dad never bothered. If he picked me up he was often late and I once spent 90 minutes waiting on the kerb (in the day before mobiles). The only time he ever came for an accomplishment of mine - the highest one I ever had - he made it all about himself and was a total embarrassment.
It must hit a lot harder as a man. Hugs
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš6â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâm sorry you went through that. I really am.
I saw a lot of that when I worked in manual labour. These guys were rough around the edges but they genuinely cared about their families and would do anything to make sure they were safe, happy and secure.
The way they talked about their kids, you could tell deep down they loved them. Even if they had this tough guy exterior.
Sometimes I tear up when I see families in public having fun and just being happy together. Lucky I always wear sunnies outside.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš6â© âšmonthsâ© ago
so many many hugs. Yes, your achievements are yours.
Iâm a little older than you and am still finding out all the things I should know but donât, things that an interested parent would have taught.
But I did get taught a whole load of shitty baggage.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš6â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Thank you â€ïž
Yeah that last part I know all too well. Iâm so fucking grateful that Iâm nothing like my father. I learned early that he was bad.
